Good morning. Right now ods is finishing up grad school essays and I hope he'll get applications out this weekend. I'm his proofreader and editor. In between essay proofing and app stuff I will be working on my puzzle and resting. Dinner is a big question mark. I'm stumped. I might see if dh wants pork loin and brown sage rice w/veggie.
Just read the end of yesterday's thread. Marina, I'm sort of giggling. I enjoy Stanley Tucci. Currently, I'm picturing his character from The Devil Wears Prada marrying your friend.
What's on your menu?
Have a great day everyone. Do something for yourselves that brings you happiness today.

I received some sad news this afternoon - one of the other volunteer carers at my Familly Centre suffered a fatal heart attack earlier this month. She was a lovely, older German lady, who started as a carer when her grandson was a toddler and she was looking after him for her daughter. She kept on even after he went on to ‘real’ kinder and school - I believe he is now in his late teens. When I first started, she was so kind to me, and always gently corrected my German mistakes - she herself spoke absolutely no English, so I had to do my best. I haven’t seen her for ages, as she finally stopped volunteering last year due to Covid.
It has been another cold, snowy day here today. I decided against a walk as yesterday was just above zero, and then we had a freeze overnight, so all the paths were really slippery. Hopefully I’ll get out tomorrow.
Dinner tonight is going to be takeout pizza from the pizzeria on the corner. I’ll call and order when DH tells me he’s on his way home, and he can pick them up on his way.

Good Morning everyone! I think Stanley Tucci is adorable. I'm off to see the remainder of yesterdays reference to him. Quiet-ish day here. I have a Stretch Appointment in an hour. There has been some meeting shuffling going on. Two cancelled. one added, one moved from 10 am to 1pm. I hope I keep it all straight. Thank goodness for outlook calendar reminders. :-) Dinner is beef of DH's choice. I told him to defrost something and I'll figure out what to do with it. I also have a little broccoli and some baby potatos that will be added in if possible. sueg- I'm so sorry to hear of your co-workers death. Wishing everyone an awesome day filled with exactly what you want it to be.

Hi scrapmaven! Essays? Fun fun for both of you. I hope you have a wonderful day. This morning I'm moving slow. Is anyone surprised? Nope. There's been a lot of wandering around my house aimlessly and one line of a crochet blanket done. My goal for today is to wash the walls and baseboards in my living room so I can paint tomorrow. My tapestry came in the mail late yesterday and we were able to pick just the right shade of paint for the living room. I will make a trip to home depot today to pick up my paint and supplies for the project. I am glad I waited because although the tapestry is beautiful, I clearly did not see the colors completely correctly. However, it was a pleasant surprise. I am curious for dinner tribe opinions though. My wall color is a soft buttery yellow. Almost a gold, but a very gentle color. The new softa is a deep chocolate brown. Which is also in the tapestry. There are two other dominate colors. One is a blue. The other is an olive green. I want to buy drapes and rug and paint the inside of my closet a contrasting color. Do you think the blue or the olive would be better? I'll add a picture of the tapestry. But again, it looked very teal and it is not. It is a medium blue. For dinner tonight will be beef quesadillas. Quick and easy is the name of the game tonight.

Good morning! I braved a crazy windstorm this morning to walk the puppy early as my friend had an early class - now of course it's beautiful out! I'm going to make a giant batch of baked ziti to share with my friend who's recovering from surgery. I'm sure her girls are tired of cooking!

I love redecorating a room. It's so much fun. I don't even mind the painting. I find it methodical and kind of therapeutic.

sueg I'm so sorry for the passing of your friend and co-worker. She sounds like she was a sweet woman.
scrapmaven sending your ODS good essay writing vibes. I love writing papers and doing research, but hate writing about myself. I'm not good at 'selling" myself. jeremysgirl great tapestry. I LOVE green it is my favorite color, but personally I don't like it with yellow, so I would probably try to pull the blue for the curtains. Plus blue will provide a good balance with the brown c ouch. I'm getting ready to do a mini bedroom makeover this spring sometime. Doesn't it feel good to freshen up a room?!?!
Marina I love Stanley Tucci, he's one of my top 5 fave male actors. Your dream is too funny. Tonight is carryout Greek. Taking it over to my parents for some hangout time. I was able to get my mom booked for a vaccine appt tommorw so I've got some paperwork to take to her.

sueg, so sorry to hear about your co-worker. jeremysgirl, I like the blue/teal in the tapestry. I'd look for a drape with that color, brown, and cream pattern that wasn't too busy. scrapmaven, your dinner sounds delicious! I have bbq pork ribs in the crock pot. I'll also serve mashed potatoes and corn with them. dd and her boyfriend picked up her processed venison. I finally bought a new freezer and hopefully the appliance guy delivers it today but doubtful. The meat can stay out in my porch. The temps are dropping. I should've been on the ball more. I didn't want to spend the money after the old one clunked out after my basement flooded four years ago. It will be nice but I hope we don't buy too many things to fill it unnecessarily. I did just purchase five frozen pizzas from my nephew through a school fundraiser. At least this way the guy will also remove the old one from the basement for 25.00. my dh is not helpful with those things like my first dh was, but he has other shining qualities. lol! We are getting rain now and once the temps drop, a blizzard warning into effect until tomorrow 6am. I need to be to work by 0645 so I'm nervous I'll be able to make my 45 mile commute. I e-mailed a lady that lives in town where the hospital I work at is located, to switch shifts. I'm hoping she works my 12 days and I can switch into her 12 hr. nights. That would be a huge relief. Otherwise I won't be sleeping tonight, too worried.

Hiya!
Today's a short school day since it's the end of term and tomorrow we're off. I've got a short break while the students are at "recess". We're following our same school schedule, just at home instead of at school so it's recess time.
Dinner is the pot roast and veggies I planned for last night--never got it into the crockpot so we just scrounged yesterday. LOL.
I love Stanley Tucci in The Devil Wears Prada and Undercover Blues. I think I feel a movie marathon coming on this weekend!

Do you think the blue or the olive would be better? Blue, blue, blue! I'm on Team Blue, especially as it looks like a lovely aqua shade would be perfect. Happy New Year! May the blessings of the new year be bountiful! Happy New Year! A friend usually has a pierogi making party to celebrate. Not this year. I'm sorry to her about your co-worker, sueg. I'm on standby from 8-12, waiting to participate in a court hearing this morning. Usually my cases get called within the first hour, so I settled in with my tea, book and phone to wait. It's been over two hours and I know the second I head to the bathroom, I'll get the call. The Southwest Sweet Potato saute from Trader Joe's was a hit with the family last night. Dinner tonight is Chicken Tortilla Soup.

sueg sorry for the loss of you friend and co-worker. We had cousins last night as daughter's cousin spent the night. Not really why it was cousins...just subs. So tonight will be chicken something! Potatoes somehow and veggies. We are to get snow tonight, 1-3 inches. I always look forward to new snow on the ground.

I've been so busy at work the last few days, I haven't even had the chance to check in. I have a bookeeper on maternity leave (she had a precious baby girl on Saturday named Jemma), and we are moving back into our newly remodeled office space, plus end of year purging and paperwork. It's been pretty crazy. But this week for dinner, we've had some good eats, so I'm proud of just cooking at home instead of all delivery. Braised brats, beef stew, corn chowder, and Chinese delivery (at the request of DS actually!) have been the choices this week. I think tonight there will be enough for leftovers.
I also love Stanely Tucci. Something about him is adorable.

Hi Everyone, scrapmaven I hope that you get through your DS’s essays and he gets to submit them. Enjoy your puzzle. sueg I am so sorry for the loss of your friend. jeremysgirl Even though green is my favorite color, I think the blue would look pretty. This morning, the dishwasher was fixed. YDS was stressed because he had a big test in AP World History. But he thinks he did okay. Some how, DH hurt his leg yesterday and it made it difficult for either of us to sleep last night. He is still in a lot of pain and having trouble walking. I told him to go to the doctor, but you know men. Tonight we are having tacos and salad.

sueg, I'm so sorry about the loss of your friend. May her memory be for a blessing to all who knew her. PolarGreen12, I always loved teachers who made you write a paper instead of a final. I love to write, as well. jeremysgirl, I would love to see you swatch a sample in teal and see how it looks in the room. You can have the store give you just enough to try a couple of colors.

If this helps. The yellow is the wall color. And I've just come from home depot. The three other colors match the tapestry. I took it with me.

jeremysgirl The blue and yellow reminds me of French country. There are so many pillows and decor items that go with that color combination. I actually have a green couch and cranberry/green/gold plaid rattan loveseat in my family room. Harder to find things in those colors. scrapmaven I’m glad I gave you a giggle. I loved him in The Devil Wears Prada. College essays are the worst. I remember reading my sons for undergrad. Yesterday he told me he has to get an interview on a topic and it’s due In 2 days on Friday. I suggested a museum for his topic and he called me thrilled today that he was able to talk to someone in a museums education department. Made me happy I could help. sueg I am so sorry for your loss. Tonight I think Salmon will be on the menu.

We've decided on the gray blue color. We absolutely don't want a french country look. That's just not our thing. We like things a bit funky and eclectic.

sueg that's sad news about your friend and co-worker. leannec please send some mushroom risotto my way. YUM! I love risotto, especially pumpkin or mushroom, but nobody else really likes it so I rarely make it. I haven't had mushroom risotto for years. Well we are home from the beach, boo! It was such a lovely break, and we were lucky with the weather. The previous week and next week are quite cool, definitely not beach weather. I am so glad that we went this week, as my first choice (it's a ballot) was the week before. For dinner we had sticky ginger chicken and jasmine rice. I had some chicken in the freezer that I had already chopped and marinated, so that made it easier.
