Yep. Say what you will about Bush as a President, he is a good man. He cares about this country and its people. Obama is nothing but class, but the sensible already knew that.

George Bush has shown himself to be a good person. He puts the country above politics. I disagree with his politics but he is a good person. I think the same can be said about most of the recent Presidents... Trump being a glaring exception!! As much as I wasn't a fan of Biden, I think he will restore humanity to the white house.

That last paragraph made me cry. I voted for Bush, and it was hurtful to hear the ugliness spewed about a man that I knew to be a good man. That kind of hateful speech became 10X worse when Obama was elected, and it was even more hurtful to see him spoken about that way because regardless of his politics, I knew him to be a good and honorable man.
I have wondered a lot over the past 4 years if that level of hyper-criticism and hatred have made it easier for people to discount the (incredibly well-deserved) things that have been said about a president who has proven himself over and over to be nothing more than a pile of excrement in an ill-fitting suit.

I’ve said this a couple of times now. I may not have agreed with Bush’s policies but it was pretty clear to me he is a good man and wanted what he thought best for the country. He has honor and class. Hopefully Biden returns honor to the WH.

For awhile, I have been thinking about the Bidens arriving at the White House after the Inauguration next week and how nice it would be if they were met by all the former presidents since Trump broke with tradition and threw a months long hissy fit.

I hope that Joe Biden brings back the class and heart of what it means to be President. Yes, he has a MESS to clean up, but I think he has a lot of good people helping him and he & VP Harris can do it if they utilize the people that they are nominating/appointing.

Always hard to tell, but to me Barack Obama has a “Golly gee. Quick, pinch me!” look on his face.
I’ve thought more than once about the letter that the outgoing president traditionally leaves for the new one. I’m sure it was very difficult for President Obama to write, but I’m also sure he was able to figure out a way to write something hopeful, helpful and encouraging.
My guess is that tradition will be broken.
Wait. I was googling how long-standing the tradition is and actually found the letter.

as soon as Trump picks out the right Crayon color, i'm sure his pudgy fingers will get busy writing his letter to Biden.

It's too bad that this transition isn't being handled with grace, dignity and optimism. Instead, it's just a great big clusterf*ck. Our coutry's highest office is a mockery to the entire world. I'm disgusted.

Listening to Biden speak right now - and he isn’t talking all about himself. It’s such a relief to hear someone talk about real plans, to be so calm and sound rational and intelligent.

You know, I just realized that Biden *knows* how it should all be done--the transition, all of it, and hopefully he'll be able to restore some of the dignity and tradition back to the presidency/White House/all of it.

Wow, thanks for sharing those letters, AmeliaBloomer. With his letter, President Obama showed once again that he is ALL CLASS. that man. I do feel sorry that Joe Biden won't be getting a lovely letter as his predecessors have. But then again, who would want a letter from that hideous beast trump. Maybe Barack can write one to his old mate instead.

Actually, I'm pretty sure Biden will be getting a letter, though I'm VERY sure it will not have been written by Trump. Sure, it'll be signed with his stupid Sharpie, but too much has been written about Trump not writing this letter for someone in his circle not to make sure Biden gets something.
Reagan wrote a few short sentences. Certainly someone still wandering around the White House can come up with a handful of kinda sorta nice-ish sounding sentences, if only to pwn the libtards who are *so sure* the letter won't be there for Biden.

I Liked your post, but on reflection, I think Trump would balk at even just signing a welcome letter of any sort for Biden. He's been wishy washy the past couple days, hasn't he. "We understand, we love you," then "Behave, no more violence."
I'm sure he doesn't want to sign a letter, but perhaps he'll be talked into signing something because it's going to be a Very Important Historical Document like all the letters AmeliaBloomer posted. He could be just like all those other Very Important Presidents if he signed the same letters they wrote/signed.
I bet the staff has had to play these games with him for four years. "Well, Mr. President, President Lincoln did suchandsuch, so if you'd... " Gawd, they must be so ready to be shot of him.
