Oops....sorry. Was editing, and my laptop went crazy. I am THRILLED to report my broken rib doesn't hurt AT ALL anymore! But other medical crap has been hard this week. But more urgently---Meaty is sick / possibly having cognitive / dementia issues and it is scary and heartbreaking. At 2 am last night, he barked and howled in a weird way we have NEVER heard him do before, but what was scary is that his breathing was very labored. In bulldogs (or any brachycephalic ( flat-nosed ) breed), this is especially scary---they just aren't "built" to breathe well in the first place, but in emergencies, it's just horrible for them. My heart was racing as DH and I were trying to be calm, petting him, giving him ice cubes (he LOVES them!), etc. I cannot, just cannot lose our Meaty *yet* !!! Just not * yet * It's too soon after Sophie! We ALMOST took him to the ER, but he finally calmed down. We've been on the phone all morning with different vets, and yknow how it is when you're talking to a new employee who just doesn't know you, blah blah blah. Our vets are sooo pawsome, and SOOo busy, anddd it's Friday! UGH! So we're waiting for a phone call, etc. etc. IF we end up taking him to an ER, it's going to be scary because of the trauma of what happeend with Sophie!!! THiS is when Covid just pisses me OFF !!!!!!!!!! We cannot BE IN THE EXAM ROOM with them!!! They made a critical error with Sophie that contributed to her untimely death. I just cannot see my hubby's cute face go through this again, and I KNOW I won't be able to handle it. I hate to be soo negative, but I only say I won't be able to handle it because I'm STILL in such deep mourning over Sophie. . We KNOW Meaty is very elderly----but for him to die in distress in a cold emergency room alone is just NOT acccepta-bull !!!! It's times like these I TOTALLLY understand why some dear friends of mine just refuse to have any more dogs because of the heartbreak. Yup, I get it !!! But as hubbs and i always say----we can't imagine NOT having dog(s) in our life---even with the heartbreak, it's worth it. I am sending as many hugs as your arms will take in a day. I really hope Meaty was just having a dramatic episode in the night. We miss Nurse Sophie so very much.❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️💋

Got my appointment for my COVID shot on February 17th. I just had my 2nd shingles shot so I had to wait at least a month. Well I am headed to Florida on 2/2 so I had to wait till I got home on 2/14. I am so excited I can't stand it.
I qualify because I work in my niece's licensed Day Care from time to time

This link and the one I included upthread aren't working for me now. I did search the sesame beef tacos and it looks exactly like the recipe I use*. *because I rarely pull up a recipe once I've made something a few times, I just realized this doesn't have any fresh ginger in it. Well, in our house, it does. I add at least a TBSP** of fresh grated ginger and almost always a few julienned leaves of kale with the cabbage. ETA ** I'm doubling the original recipe for 4, so you may need less ginger.

I have done absolutely nothing today. I colored and I worked on my planner. It's the only way I can keep my mind bust without having to think about what's going on in the world and how I just can't understand some people. For dinner we had crab enchiladas. They were delicious but very filling. Thanks hop2 for sharing the recipe !

I tidied up a bit and folded laundry hating every single second of it. You look at me “seriously, dude, get over it” I have no motivation. The kitchen is clean because it was clean last night. That’s it.

Thanks, bc2ca - will buy those ingredients and some kale and fresh ginger in the grocery order tomorrow. I only have the ingredients for Korean Taco Bowl from Damn Delicious. Dh makes really, really good rice and he's excited to help hahahahaha - mostly he wants the rice tonight.

Arepas with pork carnitas. The recipe for the carnitas uses the Instant Pot and I literally read it three times looking for the required liquid- none. It came out perfectly though. Magic?

My dd has an anaphylactic allergy to sesame. So we can never have that here. What’s the next best oil?

Hi Everyone, scrapmaven cadoodlebug Love the meme! jeremysgirl Enjoy yourself! You will get your painting done before you go back to work. scrappintoee I pray that Meaty is okay. Today, I had my labs done for surgery. I set up my account and appointment for physical therapy and I also did laundry. Dinner was skirt steak with garlic, salt and pepper in EVOO. Along with broccoli. I made it early and got my kitchen cleaned up. It feels like a Saturday today.

Exactly! Sesame oil is pretty much the most important ingredient in Korean Beef. Maybe even more important than the beef haha! My dd has an anaphylactic allergy to sesame. So we can never have that here. What’s the next best oil? Oh darn it! The sesame oil in this particular recipe is only for flavour, not for cooking. So in your case with the allergies, you can just leave it out. There really isn't another oil that adds flavour like sesame oil. I have a number of different infused olive oils, so I would probably use one of those. Maybe chilli oil, or if you don't like too much heat, a garlic or ginger infused oil. Or nothing at all!

Thank you, everybully! Meaty is doing ok for now. They put some medicine in his ears that sort of hardens and lasts for 45 days. It has helped him a lot in the past--- *IF* the distress was even related to pain. (IF ONLY OUR PETS COULD **TELL** US, right? ) In the meantime, we do wonder if it was dementia-related stress. Can't get a full exam until next Thursday. I pray he won't get so distressed again where he needs supplemental oxygen...he came VERY close to it last night. The good thing is, his gums and tongue stayed pink, but, we were sooo close to running him to the emergency clinic. Unfortunately, the closest 24-hour emergency vet is about a half hour from us. If his tongue / gums started turning blue, we'd probably be too late. Similar thing happened years ago when he was stung by ? (never knew what damn insect it was). His face was swelling soo quickly, breathing was labored, and I realllly thought he was going to die before that half hour drive was up. Thank God for Benadryl, which saved him until the vet gave him an injection. WHYYY does this crap always happen in the middle of the night? destined2bmom ....You're having a knee replacement, right? Prayers and (( Hugs )) scrapmaven .....I hope your day got a little better! (( hugs )) You are SUCH a good Mom---taking your son when you've had such a baaad week. Did ya get a good nap, at least?

Thank you so much my wonderful tribe. Just to let you know, I want all of you to get the shot. lucyg , you should absolutely get the vaccine. If you can sign up right now then do so. I was just pouting that violent offenders are eligible before innocent people. I needed to vent and I did so. Thank you for listening. The school that we saw was private and really nice. Both ds and I were fans of the location and the scenery. However, the reason he's going to apply is that the education school is great. scrappintoee , Meaty is one of us. I'm worried about him. I love my two doggie nurses. My greatest doggie thoughts are w/Meaty, your dh and you. Come on Meaty. We love you. Feel better sweet bully. ((((HUGS)))). You'll enjoy this. On Tuesday I'm seeing a new nurse, because my nurse is busy. He called a while ago and asked if I had a dog. He isn't afraid or allergic. He loves the opportunity to meet new doggies wherever he goes. I am an instant fan of this guy! Thank you tribe. Don't hold off on getting your vaccines. If you can do so, then do so. The sooner we're all vaccinated the better. I want those of you who are healthy to stay healthy and those of you who fight illness to avoid COVID.

I would just be good and generous with the soy sauce, ginger, and garlic instead. teddyw ETA I just ate more of yesterday’s chicken sausage/cheese tortellini/spinach soup. It was even better tonight. Now I want to eat it every day for the rest of my life. LOL

scrappintoee “ In the meantime, we do wonder if it was dementia-related stress.” How distressing. I know my friend’s pet did a lot of vocalizing when the dementia progressed. I hope the medicine works well for him.
