We're aware that our New Haven (CT) store parking lot is being promoted as a meeting location for a MAGA event this Saturday (1/16/2021). We ask those who plan to gather at IKEA New Haven to understand they are not authorized to use the property as a meeting location. We're working in close partnership with local law enforcement to ensure we provide a safe environment for our customers and co-workers. IKEA has no political affiliation.

Not surprising. It’s next to the highway and has a huge parking lot.
If I were IKEA I would have marked their cars and had them towed as soon as the buses left.

They have provided a warning, they can what they need to do.
Problem is, the after effects from maga people toward Ikea and their customers.

So this is my state. The MAGA are planning a "Drag the Capitol" (they don't get the ironic pun) and they chose a private parking lot as one of the meeting spots. The other one is a park and ride commuter lot, so they're okay there.
It's just so ridiculous. It's Saturday. The governor is not there he's working from home. No one will be there.
This is the reason our commissioner is having everyone work from home on Wednesday. I work for the Dept. of Public Health and she is concerned for our safety.

Not surprising. It’s next to the highway and has a huge parking lot. If I were IKEA I would have marked their cars and had them towed as soon as the buses left. They're not taking buses, they are caravanning to the State Capitol (a full 45 minutes from Ikea) to protest. Basically just creating traffic, plus it's supposed to be pouring tomorrow. |

I don't live where this Ikea is but I'm glad they put up that notice. I hope they do tow the cars that park their illegally on Saturday.
I live in Annapolis, MD and live a 14 minute drive away from out State House on State Circle. I am staying inside my house tomorrow although I will have to go out to the post office and the library on Tuesday. I should go to the post office tomorrow but it's too close to downtown (near State Circle) and I don't want to risk it (or get stick in tons of traffic).

This is local to me as well, so I tried to find an article about it, but there's nothing on the any of the area tv stations or the city newspaper that I've found. I'll be checking in tomorrow. I hope it'll be a whole lot of nothing.

Sorry, read this as the 6th not the 16th. Maybe we should all caravan to IKEA before they get there and take up every parking space. Or round up all the shopping carts and make circles around their cars. I’d be willing to not put my cart away for this. And I know how pea livid the peas get about rogue shopping carts! Lol I hope we get like hurricane force winds and a monsoon tomorrow. |

Well, it's past noon here, so they should have come and gone by now. The only news stories are about the threat of possible unrest in Hartford, where there are 100 Nat'l Guard waiting for them, but nothing has happened yet.
I'm guessing the contingent is either very small and ineffective or they got distracted and stayed to shop for Raskog carts and Alex drawers instead.

Is this supposed to be an evening event? Or was it cancelled?
There's nothing to do in Hartford anyway. Maybe they got bored and went home like everyone else does the rest of the year.

This is me exactly. I love watching the Office. It makes me laugh so much! I decided to restart schitts creek. “I’m loving this journey for me”! The Office and Schitts Creek are my two escape sitcoms. It's embarrassing how many times I've gone through all the seasons, especially The Office as it's older and has more seasons.  |
