I just went through my dies this morning and added some white cardstock to most of them as a backing sheet. I added some magnetic bits to some to hold the dies in place, others were already on magnetic sheets so I didn't bother, and a few just got cardstock. It does stiffen up the envelopes and feels like it will keep the plastic in better shape, and looks nice. It bugged me to use nice cardstock - turned out I didn't have any junk white - and the sizes were so inefficient from letter sized paper, so I'm not keen to do my stamps unless I can find some discount cs. Anyway, it was good to go through all of my dies and get a reminder about the ones I hardly ever use, and I was able to consolidate some into groupings, like the 3 gift card related dies from MFT - I put those together into one large envelope since they're all designed to be used together. I just wrote the style numbers on the back in case I need that info for some reason. Anyway, thanks for the inspiration. A little organizing can give me motivation and ideas for actually using my supplies, shows me where I have gaps, and reminds me not to get more of certain things. And I just remembered I can claim some challenge points so double-yay! You are winning on all fronts then! LOL. I forgot about the points thing, too. Moving made my stamps meant I needed to reorganize my Clip It Up - which now had room for some of my embellishments to be put in small bags and clipped. Everything is looking great and I was reminded of a lot of things that I haven't used in a while. I have a really nice get rid of pile right now, too.

I need to go thru and put some sort of mark on the front if I have the matching die. I recently stamped out a sheet of images and cut them all out with my Scan-n-Cut only to notice as I was putting the stamps away, that I had the matching dies in back. Oops! I tend to not buy matching dies since I bought my Scan-n-Cut, so I forgot to check. I have gone through 3 rolls with my label maker labeling things. LOL. Hopefully I covered everything.

I’m mostly a stamper and don’t really scrap currently so I have a lot of stamps and dies. I will say that when I decided to unmount my wooden stamps, it was a lot but NO REGRETS! 😬 It really got me back in to papercrafting and excited about what I forgot I had. Of course, the free space I gained from getting rid of those blocks was amazing. I decided to split up sets and organize by categories (flowers, animals, etc.) because that’s how I think when I’m stamping. I want to see all my flowers at once. It definitely needs to be done for the way you think when you create. In the process I also learned I liked certain categories more than I realized and had gaps in other areas. I enjoyed doing it because it reignited my passion for it. Also, I just took off the plastic packaging for my newer clear sets and popped those in the plastic envelopes. I put any matching dies behind them and put a big “D” on a sticker on front. I used the open containers to “flip” through the envelopes. I could add a lot more info to my process if you are interested. But I say go for it! I'd love to hear about your process.

One thing I did was pull some things in categories and give them their own bins. In my case this was holidays to put away until needed, geometrics, alphabets, things more for mixed media, and “basics” stuff I use all the time. It’s resulted in less searching. It’s an effort & bit of a mess, but so worth it! I am planning on doing categories. My thought now is how to label them so I can see them easier. What did you do with ones that were in more than one category? I’ve been reorganizing my stamps. I have a lot more stamps than most crafters, and it’s been a huge task. I started stamping decades ago. I had a lot of wood mounted stamps that I unmounted prior to moving 4 years ago. Not only did it cut down on weight, but I find them so much easier to use and to store. I took them down to the rubber and painted Aleene’s Tack-it-over-and-over on the back of the stamp. I had my stamps well organized, but over time and with additional purchases, I needed to do it again. I definitely have stamps that could fall into more than one category. I just pick the category that I am most likely to use that particular stamp for. As hard as it is to organize stamps, since I have so many, it’s necessary to have them organized. It’s definitely worth the time and effort. I don’t love the organizing, but I do love the end result.

I just started doing this! I LOVE organizing, I think I've done more organizing than crafting this month. I bought $10 envelopes and magnetic sheets (more expensive sadly) from Amazon and I happily spent a couple days cutting and labeling. (Seriously, I think I have a problem 😂) Then I ran out of envelopes. So I redid my ink swatches into little rings of swatches (thanks to the binder rings I found at a thrift shop last week).
I'm pretty sure I just heard a package arrive that hopefully has my next order of plastic sleeves in it. I started demounting my wooden stamps yesterday and in so excited to have my entire stamp/die stash lined up nearly in my dollar store bins.
Then maybe I'll finish my Canada book. 😂
