I linked my apple watch (well, actually the Apple Health app) to my WW account. Last night, I looked to see where I was for fit points earned and saw this: I don't understand! I walk approx 4.5 mi a day with a friend. So I understand why I have those points, but then it looks like I am getting an additional 13 points for the steps that I accrued throughout the day. Which includes my 4.5 walk! So, it looks like I earned 23 fit points yesterday. I don't earn points to eat, but you would think if I earned an additional 23 pts a day, I'd have this weight off in no time! WTH! Anyways, do I have a setting wrong? Why does it think I've earned these points?

That is correct! You get points both for the exercise activity and the steps.
So, if you happened to get 14,000 throughout your day, without a dedicated “walk” that you did non-stop for 76 minutes, you wouldn’t have gotten the “extra” walking points.
I never swap my FitPoints for food and I average 15-17 points per day. If I were to do that, I would gain weight. WW actually tells you that if using your FitPoints makes you stop losing, that you should stop using them.

Thank you elaine! I guess I thought my steps and my exercise was double dipping, but in theory, like you said, if I hadn't walked, then I wouldn't have those amount of steps either.... It could be a really slippery slope tho! Edited to fix my typo in your name!

Thank you @elanie! I guess I thought my steps and my exercise was double dipping, but in theory, like you said, if I hadn't walked, then I wouldn't have those amount of steps either.... It could be a really slippery slope tho! On a trip to Walter Reed, I can easily rack up close to 10,000 steps going from one part of the medical complex to the other for various appointments. But each “walk” is probably only 10-15 minutes, which isn’t the same on the cardio system as dedicated exercise for 1 hour 15 minutes straight. So, I don’t get extra “walking” points, because I’m not walking for an extended period of time and I don’t push my cardiovascular system into exercise mode. I get more points on the days I get 10,000 steps and run for 2 miles and then walk the dogs for 1 mile twice, because I am exercising. 5,000 steps running 2 miles IS worth more fitness points than walking 5,000 steps around Costco shopping. You deserve those extra points for walking for 76 minutes straight without a break. 😀

elaine - thank you! that makes a LOT of sense. I don't usually pay attention to my activity pts, but when I saw it sync'd to my watch thru the apple health app, I was curious what it gave me vs me calculating what I would give myself. I guess I always seconded guessed my level of effort bc I have NEVER given myself 10 points. So when I looked and saw I was at 76 points on WEDNESDAY of my week, I was like "WTH? This thing is jacked up!"
