What categories do you have for your stamps? My categories are very broad. I don't break up any sets. My "collection" is logged into EN so it's easy to find if I'm looking for something particular. Everything is in alpha order within each category, by manufacturer and stamp name.
Stamp Sets - 4x6 sets includes most of my stamps. Background Stencils Christmas/Winter - Includes dies, sentiments, embossing folders and 6x6 paper pads Other Holidays - Includes dies, sentiments, embossing folders and 6x6 paper pads Embossing Folders Shape Dies - I will put multiple sets in the same pocket, like all tags together, no matter the manufacturer Sentiments - Sentiments only sets Word Dies - I will put words from same manufacturer in the same pocket. Alphas/Numbers O/S - for those 6x8 sets that don't fit with my 4x6 sets (Altenew, Gina K Background dies Specialty dies - reveal wheel, pull tabs, sliders, etc. Wood Delete - these are sets that have been culled from the rest and that I'm contemplating getting rid of. They are in a cardboard box in the closet.

For my SC & AE Stamps (and a handful of other brands that are similar): --6x8s and Fonts (because half of my 6x8s are fonts and the other half doesn't fit in my other bins) --Food --Travel (travel, adventure, outdoorsy, etc.) --States & countries are separate --Pattern Makers --Words (formerly known as PL stamps, but I don't do PL) --Themes (sports, music, etc.) --Seasonal & holidays --Cmas ones are kept with December Daily supplies --Card sentiments --Story Stamps (because it's easier to keep them together as a group) --SBTM stamps (they are still in the bags with the rest of the kits...some day I hope to organize all of it better).
My Stampin' Up sets are kept in separate bins, but are not organized because I don't have that many.

My "categories" are holiday (stored in a different place), sentiments/word art (when that's all the stamp has), alphas, and everything else, with the biggest ones at the back. I only have one basket of stamps (excluding Xmas) so there's not much organizing there!
I might've hit the point where I should do better, but I'm not sure I need more categories. Might have a think on that.

Sentiments (I don't have any alpha sets, so these are just sentiment stamps; Happy Birthday, Thinking of You, Thank you, etc) Outdoors (autos, flowers, bugs, spaceships, etc) Animals People/faces (I have a Cricut so I have many face stamps that go on the Critter cartridge images) Holiday (Christmas, fall, winter) Miscellaneous (background, coffee sets, monsters, random holidays and anything else that doesn't have a category)
All sets are unmounted and in Avery Elle pockets and I LOVE that.
My large 6x8 sets are in a basket up out of the way, which isn't good because I forget about them.

I store my dies in ArtBin die storage cases with the matching magnetic sheets. I store at least half of them by company. I have Heartfelt Creations in their own bin, Queen & Co, Karen Burniston, Lawn Fawn & My Favorite Things, Spellbinders, then the others based on similar types of dies (nature, houses/structures, embellishments).
I unmounted all of my wood mounted stamps about 5 years ago, although I have a few more to unmount that I have bought since.
I organize my stamps in pockets which are in zippered binders, with the exception of Queen & Co. sentiments, which I keep with their kits. I have my stamps/binders organized by:
Christmas/Winter Halloween/Fall Summer miscellaneous holidays sentiments/alphabets botanical/nature babies/children medieval/fantasy miscellaneous
I also have a binder for Graphic 45 stamps, and another for My Favorite Things & similar companies.
My Heartfelt Creations stamp sets are stored in Art Bin cases.
Close to My Heart stamps are in CTMH storage bins.
There may be a few other categories. Those are the ones that come to mind, but it’s been over a month since I worked on organizing them or spent any time in my craft room. I hope to get back to finishing my stamp organizing project once DH has recovered enough to be more independent.
I have far too many stamps, but I was a stamper at least 10 years before I became a scrapbooker, and I’ve been scrapbooking for a little over 24 years.

Right now, my “categories” are shoved in a bin and not really organized well. I need to purge and sort in a bad way.

My categories are by how I remember what I have. I have a Tim Holtz stamp cart with four drawers of stamps and the bottom is ink pads, blotters, embossing gun, embossing powder, etc. here’s the cart I have— www.scrapbook.com/store/ch-ch93863.html The drawers are Alphabet and word stamps Clear stamps Foam or rubber stamps Stamp sets with coordinating dies Within those drawers, they are sorted by size. I generally know what I have but occasionally I am surprised. It’s not the most organized system ever, but I usually know what I have and where to find it. Worst case is I know what I’m looking for and where to look to see if I have it! It works for me...for now. We’ll see what changes when I move into a larger craft room!

I only incorporate stamping into layouts (not cardmaking, art journaling, etc.) & prefer wood mounted rubber stamps, which are stored in a discontinued Pottery Barn Bedford 5-drawer cabinet. Small clear stamps are organized in trading card page protectors in an office binder, while all other clear stamp sets are housed in a fridge bin; both the binder & bin sit on top of the cabinet. All stamps - wood mounted rubber & clear - are organized into the same broad categories:
Alphanumeric Journaling Geometric School Sports Travel Holidays Seasons Misc.

I've been keeping my stamps together by manufacturer and I feel like I need to have a better organization system to use them more. Thanks for starting this thread, it's giving me some great ideas.

I use Evernote to manage my stamp inventory. I use a number system, and they’re stored in numerical order by size (small stamp sets, medium, large, etc.). I do use tags so that I can find what I’m looking for in, literally, seconds. It sounds complicated, but it’s really very easy to maintain and use. It’s saved me a lot of money because I have the app installed on my phone, and I don’t have to guess whether or not I have something before I buy it. I use Evernote for my dies and embossing folders too, and I’m probably going to add my stencils.

I store mine by manufacturer. I'd probably get more use out of them by pulling certain ones out and categorizing them, but I'm too chicken. I keep telling myself that I can do that once they all get labeled, but that shouldn't be stopping me because I keep the backer in with the stamp set. The ones that don't have them (like old school Studio Calico sets) are pretty easy to identify even without a label.
I wish I had an app that would allow me to categorize them. There is one out there for Diamond Paintings, but I'd really like an easy to use one that would allow me to snap a photo, add a brand, add a name and then choose tags. I don't know if evernote would do that for me and I don't remember if it's a subscription or a one and done platform. I definitely don't want a subscription app.

Note title (for me) is the Manufacturer and Name of the set, I add a photo of the set, and add tags. Tags for me is any designs or critters or icons, and all sayings or words. I have different "notebooks" (what I've listed in my OP) for each category or area in my room the set is stored. I'll see if I can take a screen shot and post a photo of a set.

Three of these four baskets have stamps. The other one has embossing folders and small alphabet dies. I have the baskets labeled with the themes on the front. Just have to pull out the basket and put it on my desk.

I have binders with flat embellishments sorted by theme. When I get a new set, I either stamp or make copies of the set and put it in one or more categories. Like naughty or nice; Christmas, children, or all occasion.
The stamps themselves are organized by words, alphabets, planner, and season/holidays. I don't have a great system, but they are stored in 6x8 and 6x6 envelopes.
