Please correct me if I’m wrong beachgurl , but I believe she posted that idea with tongue firmly in cheek. She very well may have. I didn't even recall reading the OP, just the quoted version. My tongue is not so firm. Everyone comes here for different things. What is irritating to one, is exactly what the other is looking for. I don't see a need to single out any particular topic, but probably better would be to have an entire rainbow of labels. Easier for everyone to find exactly the colors they want and exclude the non-desirable, to them. Setting some standard where we all agree which category each post should fall into would be the tricky thing, since the more interesting threads are multi-color, and explore all sorts of topics and influences. Yes, it was tongue in cheek. I don’t think we should be labeling any posts. We’re all adults here.

Are we? Even the ones who label Godiva threads as political?

I think the OP should mark it as political. I don't think others should be able to. The only other option is to trust the OP to put political in the title.

Please keep the red warning. If you have any point of view that isn’t liberal Democrat ,you know not to bother reading it. They are all posted one sided with no other opinions allowed. The evil Republicans can easily just ignore them. If you just look at the post and just read the last 10 posts, it’s all Donald all day. I hope in 2021 , we can have some unity. There can’t be civil dialogue when only your point of view is the only one allowed to be expressed. I do miss the olden days of 2 peas, when we just shared our thoughts and a random troll started trouble but now we fight against ourselves. So very sad. So please let me keep my ablity to skip them and hope they slowly fade away because their President is in office. I believe, now that DT is out, that civility will begin to crawl, ever so slowly and weakly, out of the dark hole it was shoved into five years ago -- when a man who belittled the weak and the infirm, championed winning over truth and honor, believed the end he desired justified any means, and who didn't know the meaning of truth -- trampled our national honor and turned friend against friend. But until then, let's keep the political label so those who are still in denial can avoid the light of truth. Thank you! You said exactly what I was thinking. For many of us “politics” was also a moral issue.

Even though I am very much democrat and a liberal, my Dh is not. He is a republican. He did not vote for Trump though. I've been told, on here, that if he's a republican he's racist. I've been told how can you even be married to someone like that? and other not very nice things. So I get it. At the risk of turning this into a true political thread, I don't believe that's true. People weren't saying Republican = racist. People were saying trump voter / trump supporter = racist, or at the very least, are okay with racism. If your husband did not vote for trump then I don't believe anybody would say the things you're claiming were said. There are plenty of Republicans on this board who are anti Trump and did not vote for trump. Nobody is calling them racist because they identify or are registered as Republican.

My impression was the political label was needed so that posts that don’t seem political from the title could be marked so people didn’t innocently wander in.
My opinion is that the OP should be the only one to mark a post political.
Having said that, if the OP can’t title a thread clearly enough to let you know it’s a political thread then they also are not going to label it political, rendering the label useless unless other people can mark it. But if other people can mark it posts about the Godiva store are going to be labeled political. It’s a viscous circle. 😊
Now, if we’re just talking about wishes for the board, I have one for whoever posts a new thread for those!

My problem with the label is that random posters can apply/remove/re-apply it at any point during the life of the thread.
A thread can have a completely non-political title and the first two pages are about something not at all political. Then on page 3, a poster refers to a politician or political party or whatever, and someone slaps the Political label on the thread. Then we're left wondering why a thread titled, "No-sho or ankle length; which socks do you prefer?" ended up with the Political label.
I like the idea of only the OP being able to apply the label, though I have no idea if that's possible. Sure, it makes the OP responsible for keeping the label up to date if the thread goes off track -- but then again, perhaps not. If the thread goes into the wilds of politics, rather than change the label, those who aren't interested in following politics can simply stop following the thread.
