Waving hi to grammadee , lilacgal, jediannie, azcrafty, joblackford, AussieMeg , jeremysgirl , nylene , KikiPeaHas everyone got the 28-4-28 running shoes on? (I think I have my 28-4-28 winter boots on, not sure if they'll be as fast ) My MAIN goal for the next 2 weeks is to finish editing photos, format them (I create a lot of 2 3x4s on a single 4x6 print), and get them to Costco before Feb. 14! It's going to limit my early participation in 28-4-28, and I'm angry at Costco about that. But OTOH, this is at least lighting a fire under my derriere to finally get fresh photos printed!! Do you have any recent scrappy purchases to share? I bought a new lamp from amazon with birthday money. I was inspired by the Phive lamp that has been posted a couple of times on the board, but didn't want to spend quite that much, so I found a slightly less expensive version and I'm really happy with the extra brightness in my dungeon! I took a photo of my 28-4-28 layout under it tonight (because I, ahem, forgot to photograph it in the daylight!) and I think it looks quite reasonable. Looking forward to having your company this month!

Hey, hey, hey!
So excited to participate in creating challenges this month. I hope I do them justice, and give you all some inspiration. See y’all around!

I think I have blisters from my scrappy running shoes from January. And, as usual, when I am switching gears, I am taking a little longer to get started on the next step. And of course the photos I want to use are not yet printed... Think I will start with some page kits for the challenges and then sort my printed photos into them, or attach sticky notes for which pic's I will use when I get them. Started with a background grid for today's challenge. Need to collect the recipe items for tomorrow's. The first thing I will need to focus on is my own sample for Friday. Once I get going again, I think I can start running again. Looking forward to seeing all the challenges and inspiration. And more good news: after just four pages, I can start looking at new products again. I am always inspired by new stuff. Being frozen is not my usual state .

I was excited about the challenges. I don't do a lot of fancy scrapbooking but I love to scraplift the layouts. But I'm coming off a busy January! I cannot believe I scrapbooked 18 layouts. That was craziness for me. I'm not sure I'll put up the same kind of numbers for February. But I'm in to play.

I'm here! Last month was rough for my family but I have high hopes for this month. I've started the 100 day challenge (I'm doing watercolor practice every day so far) and I have some cards to make for a swap with some local friends so I definitely will be doing some craftiness this month.

I was inspired yesterday by the Day #2 challenge and I did it, but I ran out of adhesive. Guess I better get to JoAnn's today and get some more. The challenges are great so far.

I'm still splitting my time between decluttering all the stuff from my in law's place and doing my own crafty things, but I'm doing the 100 day project and hope to get lots of cards made to declutter my stash of papers so I can buy some new ones someday. I also haven't finished my digital JYC album, but I don't have much more to do, and I'm hoping to stay caught up with my year in review blurb - I have a list of stories to include for January so that's a good start! Today I listened to a video and worked on a notebook of Christmas ephemera I started last December, added some writing in between the stuff I had stuck down. It's a bit of a mess but less of a mess than a bag full of loose ephemera. ETA: doing crochet too. But wishing I could pay someone else to do the foundation chain and first row. I find that really fiddly and annoying for some reason, and I hate counting chain stitches. Wish I had another crocheter next to me to get me started, but I will have to rely on YT and half-assing it as usual.

Next to weaving in ends, it's my least favorite part of a project. I figure next time I have a huge blanket to do with a long foundation chain, I'm going to youtube how to do a foundation row with a stitch. I know it's possible. So you don't have to do a million chains and then crochet into them. Maybe you could look that up.

jeremysgirl, joblackford, and gramma, maybe if I had ever got PAST the foundation chain in my crocheting, I may have learned how to do it well enough to love it. But I never did. Have I told you how little patience I have? Fortunately there are other people in my life who do knitting and crocheting, so I can be toasty warm without having to do the work myself! I thought about starting the 100 days project, but didn't figure out anything. The only year I started it, my ambition fizzled after about a month. Some days I have lots of creativity and energy and other days not so much. I am competitive enough to feel like a failure if I miss a day, even when the only one who would know would be me. Posted my first LO of February this morning. Have another one ready to go for this evening. That will be two out of five 28-4-28 challenges done. A bit stymied by the "green" and the "summer" cues. Will have to look to see if I have some summery pic's to scrap for those two.

It sounds like we all need to hire a foundation chain person... I'm glad I'm not the only one who finds it terrible. I will definitely look up alternatives. I was making 2 small samples the other day to test stitches and for some reason I had the darnedest time with one of them. Maybe I did it differently from the other?
The rest of the crocheting is very relaxing and meditative, very good for impatient people - I crochet in all those situations where I need to hold my tongue and/or refrain from throttling someone. I get a lot done when I'm listening to my husband watching a tense or infuriating TV show.

Are any of you rooting for a particular player in Sunday's Super Bowl football game? My son was in an advanced English class with Stefan Wisniewski, so I am hoping to see him in the game and hoping he does well. He was with the Eagles when they won, and then with the Chiefs when they won.

This weekend is the #24in48 read-a-thon, so I won't be getting much crafting done unless I put on my audiobook and listen to this month's book group read while I make cards or catch up on my ephemera notebook. I can't do much scrapping while I listen - too many words on my pages - but I can chop and glue paper. It actually helps me keep working because I can't overthink.
The idea of the 24 in 48 is to read as much as possible, the goal being to read for 24 hours within the 48 hours of the challenge weekend. I sleep too much to ever come close to 24, but it's a good opportunity to read all those books you have piled up for "someday" and I'm hoping to read some serious stuff and tear through the latest Veronica Speedwell mystery. I think I managed 16 hours one year, which is much more than the hour or so I usually manage in a day.
I don't imagine I'll be checking in here much this weekend. In fact, if you see me here, tell me to close the laptop and get back to my book!

I sleep too much to ever come close to 24, OMG, me too! The only time I read for extended periods is when we are camping. Love a beach and a book! \ I'm still working on photo processing. Remember - I was 2 YEARS behind on editting and printing. I lost a lot when my laptop died. I'm trying to get lots done so that I can join the online crop tonight!!! Who is watching the superbowl tomorrow? We used to have it on the TV, but we got rid of our cable 2 years ago and that's the sort of event that has slipped away. I actually know who is playing, only because of the online crops and some football loving peas

My favorite online crochet teacher has a video about using the foundation stitch instead of starting with a chain. I tried it out on my latest sample and it seems so much easier to me! Thank you for mentioning that such a thing was possible. I had no idea. youtu.be/hXh7MVcRpFw

Wow! reading 12 hours over two days? I think the electronic age--or maybe MY age--has taken away my ability to focus on reading for any length of time. Books would need to be super exciting to keep my attention for that challenge. I tend to read on my ipad, and after every few pages I find myself getting distracted, looking up sometng that was mentioned in the story, playing a game, checking in here, watching a short youtube video...
I spent the morning looking for stuff and sorting other stuff and putting it away. Good thing we can earn points for organizing. I think I should get double points because I hate doing so much! When I finished organizing supplies, I calculated and added up my February points.
But now I have two clear work spaces, a list of the pages I want to put together, and a stack of sets of photos to use on those pages. Also found a kit from 2020 that will work perfectly with some photos from 2012. So a good start for tomorrow. After all that left brain work, my right brain went AWOL and refuses to come out and play.

I read on the kindle mostly and have to stop myself for reaching for my phone - I'm trying to train myself to write down things I want to look up later. The kindle has a built-in dictionary so that helps a little. And for this challenge I spent most of the time with paper books, and reading in doses less than an hour, switching between books (non fic, mystery, an oral history of a TV show in tiny little interviews- short chapters make me think "I may as well read just a bit more"). Almost 6 hours was spent listening to an entire audiobook (over 2 days) while I crafted. I feel like you should get double points for organizing too! lol. The more you hate it the more points you should get. Hope you can get back into a crafty playtime mood quickly. I'm die cutting a bunch of hello sentiments today and feeling annoyed at how fiddly they can be to release from the die, even with wax paper assistance. It's a good thing they're really cool looking or I'd give up. I'm trying to finish a bunch of half-done cards for a senior card drive I posted in the donation thread.

We're excited over here in the PNW - we finally got some snow! I know all you northerners and easterners will be rolling your eyes, but we don't get much. Actually these are the first flakes we've had all winter, so it has barely even felt like winter. We could get anything from an inch to 15" or who even knows? Our weather is pretty unpredictable. Hopefully I'll be able to get some fun snow photos before we go back to gloomy endless rain early next week.

I'm glad I'm not the only person who finds their attention span has been destroyed by the modern world/tech. I so see a difference in myself in the past 8 years. I have a hard time sitting through a movie without having a distraction. I always hated talking on the phone, but now I hate it even MORE (although I usually have a game going on my phone to make it bearable!) When we get together with friends, we're often chatting but also looking at our devices... feeling annoyed at how fiddly they can be to release from the die YEAH. I have a new script "Happy Birthday" die and it's time consuming to get out of the die, plus I like to layer 3 of them for dimension on my card, so I have to get 3 of them out of the die! and then making layers of them? Ugh, so fiddly. But worth it in the end I guess. I have a team report: thanks to a team member on the OPPOSITE team who posted a challenge granting 1 point/photo printed, plus double your points if you are a diehard costco printing fan working overtime to get them printed this week, I just earned us 1369 x 2 points! I've never ever earned that many points in a month, although it was a heckuvalotta work and I almost feel I deserve them

Thanks to today's virtual crop, I have two LO's done this weekend. They are not brilliant, but they are done! Will photograph and share tomorrow. It was fun to chat while I fussed and printed and glued.
Don't know if this room can make it another week before the piles reach critical mass. Lost a piece of printed vellum today in here, and it didn't even turn up after I had reprinted it on another scrap of vellum I found, so things are getting away on me...

My husband took our 5 year old out for a bike ride and a park visit so I was able to get 13 cards made for the local swap I'm participating in! The design is the same but the patterned paper is all a little different. I dropped the ball on the 100 day project after day 5 but I'm hoping to pick it back up again. I'm doing watercolor techniques so nothing fancy, just learning strokes & such.

I sat myself down to do a couple of easy February digital pages yesterday. They're just "drafts" for my blurb book, nothing fancy, but February doesn't have much going for it unless we get snow, so 2 snow spreads and I'm done. This was the point last year where I got behind on drafting my blurb book pages. Of course I know why... thanks CoViD! But I have a plan to pull photos into folders month by month during the year, if not week by week, and get the pages started pretty soon after the events actually happen. I played with some colored inks and a stamp today too. Not for long, but a little playtime helps remind me of all the things I want to try with supplies I have and is a good distraction from all the things I want to BUY after watching YT videos. Glad to hear you got playtime this weekend too grammadee and jediannie

I am loving my newly reorganized scrap space. Just having more room is so comfortable, I find myself more drawn to craft. So that's a win for all my hard work! I can't imagine what my points total is going to be this month. I have photo points, organization points, crop-time points, layout points...alas, there is no spending challenge this month because after I finished my "50 layout challenge" (my goals were slightly different, but I met them) I bought shelves!

I'm sorry you guys, I haven't been the best team member this month. I feel like I've lost my scrappy mojo I had going on in January. Frankly, I've just lost my mojo period. I'm hoping this weekend I can find it and give everything one last push.
