We've had quite a few threads lately of purchases, regrets, purging, etc. I think we should all pull something "out of the box" (or just unused) tools, machines, etc.
I have a few things I am going to try this week that have sat unused or in the box. A few weeks ago, I pulled out my WRMK typewriter that was just used for decoration. I pulled up a YouTube video for it and realized there was one little thing that had kept me from using it a year ago. Once I realized I just had to pull out a wire, I was good to go. Kind of kicked myself for how easy it was to fix my issue. I hadn't used it because I didn't want to take the time to look up the issue. Honestly, it was in the paperwork I found for my typewriter last week that hadn't been properly filed. Ugh.
So what are you going to pull out this week/weekend to try for the first time? Maybe if we commit to it, we'll do it.
Anyone?
2/14/21
I have a two year old Brother Scan N Cut. It has just sat there so nicely on the shelf. I watched a few videos the other day and wondered why it was going unused. I had a quick panic minute when I thought I had tossed the blade and its housing. Didn't realize there were some "super secret" areas for stashing the accessories. Once I got the blade loaded and the right mat loaded (it would not recognize the giant 2 foot mat) the rest was super simple. Now I need to find some of my favorite patterned paper that has fun images to cut out. I also pulled out my MISTI (always use TH platform) and used a monster stamp set to cut.
Yesterday I made a thank-you card using a corgi die set for my neighbor's granddaughter. She is five and there was a set of corgi valentine socks in my mailbox on Friday.
So I used a machine, platform, dies, and stamp set in my challenge.
Anyone else?

I like this idea. I will take out my Foil Quill and play around with it.

It's just a little thing, but I ordered a date stamper years ago. It has sat unused. Maybe this weekend I can do a LO and stamp a date on it!

I also found some date stamps that I often use. My early layouts didn't have date stamps very often. That was back when the date was on the pictures.

I know it sounds silly, but I think my issue is that I am sometimes scrapping photos that are older, but I am journaling now. So if I scrapping pics from 2005, do I date stamp 2005 (no way I'd know the actual date unless it was a birthday or something) or Feb 11th, 2020, as that is the date I am journaling? I just keep going around and around about it...

LOVE this idea - I will take a survey of my room Saturday morning and decide what I will dust off and unwrap. LOL -- I'm pretty sure it will be some stamps - and play around with my stamping tool that hasn't seen any action yet.

Fun challenge, 950nancy! I have tried my manual Foil Quill pens only once, jediannie. I think I need to pull those out, as well. To be true to the challenge, I can use one of the nibs I have not yet pulled out of the packaging. @kendramage, when I stamp a date on a page it is for the photos when the story actually took place. If I don't know the exact date, I will tape over the date on the stamp so it just reads month and year. I think in the future if people are looking at my album, they will want to know when this happened rather than when I wrote about it.

I would put the date the photos were taken - or the approximate date. When I'm doing older photos I'll sometimes just put the year if that's all I have. If I'm really guessing then I put circa and then best guess year (circa 1972 for example).

I'm generally pretty good at using things before I put them into my stash but I know I have some stamp sets that have never seen ink, so I'll try to use one (or more) of those.

I am going to 2 days of a retreat this weekend so what I will take out of the box is paper I ordered. I have sorted it along with the photos I will use and always enjoy using new paper that I haven't even seen since I bought it.

Thank goodness not for iPhones (and others) that you can scroll back and find the exact date.

I've had my laptop for a while and have not put my SCAL program on it yet. I use it with my Cricut Expression. I'll challenge myself to do some cut files. I'll use my kiwi lane templates too.

I just had to have all the Title Builder Sets from Elle’s Studio, but I have never used them. I think it’s because I get overwhelmed with what titles to create. I think this weekend I will get them out and brainstorm a bunch of different title ideas!

I have a tag die I haven’t used - I just pulled it out and cut some tags and reinforcers!
I also bought dust covers for my sewing machine and cricut, but they’ve been in their plastic for over a month. I finally pulled those out today and put them on my machines! Now that I’ve done that, I really should use my Cricut!

You reminded me that I have a multi-piece die I haven't used yet because the pieces still need to be cut apart. I want to use it for one of the 28-4-28 challenges too. I should make it a priority to separate the pieces tonight. ETA: I used it !

I should make it my goal to use that stamp set this week.

I usually do it to justify my purchases I did use a stamp set over the weekend that hasn't been used before, although shamefully I have to admit I'd forgotten I owned it.

I'll take a guestimate on the photo even if it's just the year. for example: photo: 1984 Journaling:2/18/2021

I'll join! I got a Cuttlebug for Christmas two years ago so I could start embossing and I don't think I've ever used it. I brought it with me to a Scrapbook Expo to learn how to work it, but didn't actually use it. I will use it on a page I'm planning for tomorrow.
