IC4.; it is amazing and was recommended here several times. I love it and it is so stinking quiet.
It was more expensive (but not Peloton expensive), but I truly believe you get what you pay for with things like this and it is worth it to me because I actually use it.

That one looks lovely. And when I show myself that it will be used longterm, will think on that one Skellinton! But for now, I need to stick to a lower budget. I do think I have heard this one talked about before though.

There are a few options I’ve stumbled across while researching the same thing. I just recently joined a few Facebook groups and two are aimed at using the Peloton app with alternative bikes. If you have Facebook, look for the Peleton App Users group and the Pechelon group. The Pechelon group is based off of a spin-off bike called the Echelon, available at Costco and often on sale. The monthly cost for the digital app only is $12.99/month.

The Ic4 looks nice SkellintonI still have my Schwinn Aerodyne from 20-30 years ago and it's in great shape. No bells and whistles but I do like that the fan "wheels" cool as you go. Besides bells and whistles only work if you do. I need to get back at it. Unfortunately I haven't used it since I've moved, after breaking clavicle and ankle injury. Arm is still giving me some pain but I should get my butt back on it at least using only legs as ankle is good. I'm afraid between that and covid blahs I've lost my ambition. Just do it! right? naby64 I hope you find one you like, enjoy and use.

I read while riding so I don't use then handle bars often. Hope you feel like riding again soon. The fan gets very cold in the winter, I love it though.

I have an Echelon Connect Sport which is exclusive to Walmart. I'm about 70 rides in and it's been excellent. No complaints or failures at all. It's a tough, strong, user friendly bike. Most people on the Facebook Pechelon group have a connect Sport. You can use the Echelon app in Freestyle mode with free Youtube videos or pay for the Peloton app.
There is a new app for Echelon users which interfaces with Peloton better. Provides a better experience. I haven't downloaded it yet but I'm going to this weekend.
I'm 55 yrs old so similar to you and my level of fitness has dramatically increased. I was literally hyperventilating within 2 minutes of my first ride LOL. Thought I was going to die. This is typical. Keep going at your own pace! I've lost 8 pounds using only IF. No diet changes.

I do think I have heard this one talked about before though. Just so you don’t think I am sort of fancy pants lady with that much money to toss around, I used our first stimulus check to buy mine. I hope you find one you like! I haven’t lost any weight (that would require me giving up chocolate) but I enjoy riding and I feel better, so there is that!

Join the FB group "Broke Ass Bitches of Peloton." I think the majority of the group rides Echelons. A few Sunny ones, but mostly Echelon.

IMO there's a level of build quality that's necessary to find spinning enjoyable and that starts at about the $800 price point. A bike that's not well-built and super solid will not feel adequately stable and supportive when putting it through the paces of a rigorous spin class. And if you don't feel confident on the equipment, you're not going to enjoy the workout, and you're not going to use it. Below around $800 bikes just feel flimsier and would be fine for gentle seated rides, but not for spin-style rides with speed intervals, out of the saddle work, etc. But I don't think you can evaluate if you'll stick with spinning by trying out a super budget bike. It's just not the same experience at all.
From ~$800 to Peloton, there's a ton of range. Materials get even better, ergonomics get better, electronics get more sophisticated. Displays are integrated on higher-end bikes, while the $800ish ones require using a tablet or phone for your screen. Resistance adjustments get more precise. Metrics recorded get more robust (Peloton REALLY shines there).
I personally use a Schwinn IC4 and as I've said many times here, am totally happy with it.

Thanks ladies. For now, I went with the 2nd link in my OP. The Schwinn is nice but I would have to prove to myself that that baby would get used. I've got knee and back issues so I am hoping to not aggravate those. I like the Echelon and honestly, the one I ordered on Amazon, looks comparable.
So I am going to be honest with myself and getting my home gym set up and go with what I know I will use and can afford. If I start tearing up the "trails" and see that another, more advanced one is needed, then Echelon will be mine.

With my house being a single income household, I am just trying to be smart. Using part of my Christmas bonus to grab this and the rowing machine already esconced in the house. Don't get me started on the stimulus check. My household is not getting one. I suppose someone is happy DH is still alive. He just barely escaped when I found out why. I won't lose any weight unless I start eating clean again. My body is just one of those that stores up fat. Also with my AI issues, clean eating is just better. I am hoping those combinations will help do something. One of these days maybe I'll have that stimulus check in hand...

I am more of a trail, flat rider for now.

As an Echelon Connect Sport user who paid $599 on sale (in Canada, less in the US), the bike is solid. It doesn't move and I'm not light. I've taken classes in studio and I'm very pleased with this purchase. I'm out of the saddle doing hill climbs, jumps, freezes, sprints etc. It is solid, stable and very quiet. I didn't want a screen with my bike, I cast from my ipad to the big screen tv.

There was a wait then, which is why I didn't go with one.

There are lots of great reviews on Youtube that you can watch prior to purchasing a bike. Pretty much every model and make.

I just got the IC4 last Saturday. On Monday morning I took the seat to a bike shop. As soon as I walked in, the lady says “I know what you’re here for and here it is!” 😂 I got my bigger seat that is made for a woman and all is good now. Was only $30 ish. I’ve been using the Peloton app, the Apple a fitness app and Zwift to find which one I like best. So far so good.

When I asked everyone kept telling me I would get used to it and it just needed broken in. I gave it a week and decided it wasn't worth trying to make it work. I am glad you just got a new seat, I don't understand why everyone was so against getting a new seat. That seat was brutal!

When you put a padded seat on it, it can't change your ride. Too much potential to shift, sitting your higher than needed etc. I always recommend padded shorts first. After a few ride that "area" toughens up and I promise you could ride in your underwear and it won't bother you.

I got a Spinning-brand bike off Craig's List. It came with SPD pedals so I could clip in. It also had a monitor that shows RPM, Watts, mileage. I LOVE the Peloton app!

I had been reading up on bikes. I was mainly looking for something that I can use during weather where I can't run. I live at my cabin during the summer months and I just didn't want to get something really expensive since I will have long stretches where i won't even touch it. I went with the Schwinn IC3. If I were looking to use the Pelaton app, I probably would have sucked it up and ordered the IC4. I use the Les Mills app and absolutely love it. Seriously, their workouts are so much fun. They have a lot of spin classes and I've previewed several and that moved me from the thinking about getting a bike to actually buying one.
My bike cost $599. I had birthday & Christmas money and applied some Amazon gift cards. I read reviews and got some advice from SockMonkey who has this bike. I really feel like it is going to suit my needs. I'm so excited! If the time ever comes where I wish that I would have bought a more expensive bike, I'll give this one to one of my daughters or sell it.
