Why is DeJoy still postmaster? Can’t he be fired for the disgrace the mail service has become? I mean the mail delivery was fine before DeJoy and now it’s a freaking disaster.
5 days for a 45 minute trip is crazy

Call me crazy but it would seem that new vehicles are the least of their problems. Not being a reliable delivery service should be priority #1. It's late February and under his pathetic leadership and vision, Christmas deliveries are not all accounted for. When exactly is it that we need to mail 2021 holiday cards? Let alone gifts. All I hear is that we need to learn to accept much slower service times and learn to cheerfully pay more for that privilege. I nearly burst out laughing just asking when we need to have things be postmarked by. If I had to go by my experience this year, cards need to be in the system by the end of September. Nothing against the delivery drivers or other employees. They are not the issue. No, they are not the issue, it’s the changes made at the top. Anything I’ve tracked is ping ponging back & forth all over the place cause delays. I can’t see how it’s cost effective to drive stuff around twice as long and twice as far just to go the same distance.

I only got a few minutes of his hearing. He is appointed by a Board of Governors, they are the only ones who can fire him. However Biden will be filling 3 positions, fortunately left vacant by twice impeached person. The new appointments are good. One was temporarily in charge before Dejoy. The other two will also help to remove him...
Remember USPS is not a government agency?

I was just refunded $20+ today because something I shipped guaranteed 1-day delivery took 8 days to arrive. And the postmaster said I was the fourth refund he'd had to give today. Great work, DeJoy!

This is hurting businesses. Small businesses will not be able to manage dealing with postal issues for long, as they won’t be able to withstand the financial losses. These apparently “lost” packages are being refunded/replaced only to have the customer receive both shipments. Leaves businesses to eat the cost of the duplicate or the return postage. It’s shameful what has been perpetrated on the USPS and, in turn, the rest of us.

The new mail trucks look like Cory Carson toy cars. Dejoy is so smug I want to kick him in the throat.

I mean the mail delivery was fine before DeJoy and now it’s a freaking disaster. I am a huge supporter of USPS. But mail delivery has been f'ed up for a long time! I know it is worse now, but there have been some pretty major issues long before this latest fiasco. The whole pre-funding of the pension plan has been a major detriment to the PO and things have been on a downhill slide since then (2006). I used to be able to send local mail and have it delivered the next day. In some instances - the SAME day. Now it doesn't even get postmarked at my local post office. It has to take a trip around the state at least once before it comes back. I used to be able to drop a letter in the slot. The postal employee picked it up and put it either in the locals PO box, or in the local route carriers sort pile. Now I put a letter in the drop box, that goes to a local address. A mail contracter comes and empties that box late in the afternoon. It goes halfway across the state to Des Moines (if I mail it at the little town the other direction from my house it goes to Sioux City). It sits in Des Moines at least a day. AT LEAST a day. Then it gets sorted, goes back either on a mail semi to another sorting facility in a different town or to a mail contracter and back to my local PO and then on to the recipient. I have mailed something to someone local here and it takes up to 5 days for them to get it. This didn't just start happening. This has been going on for years. How in the hell does this save money? This is what is wrong with our government! Who the hell figures this stuff out? For a while, about a year ago, I was getting mail frequently that the stamps had not even been cancelled. These were mail pieces with regular stamps on them, and no cancellation on the stamps. I could have used those stamps again if I wanted to .

Last year I used UPS a lot. Great arrival times. This year both DD and I paid over $20 for 2-Day Air. Neither arrived in less than 5 days. And it was not weather related. The post office is working great for me this year.
But Louis DeJoy remains an arrogant obnoxious incompetent. Just like all of 45s sycophants.

My friend mailed Christmas cards in early December. I still haven't gotten mine and we only live 40 minutes away.

About time says the mother of a Postal worker. My daughter will hopefully be driving in a vehicle that will have heat and air conditioning and not breaking down constantly. The Postal Service has been having issues for years many years.

I ordered some pencils off amazon in early November. The first package was lost. The company sent me another and that too ended up lost. He then sent a third which miraculously arrived. About two weeks after the package arrived the one that was originally the replacement arrived. Two days ago I received the original package.

Well, there were some issues when they switch from mostly full time mail carriers to 3 part time carriers per route here but it was mostly mail being mis delivered with my neighbor - which I can fix if it’s not the asshole neighbor. And because it’s a part time gig there has been more turnover But Last year something changed and it’s bat crap crazy. Mail is not delivered to the post office then suddenly there’s too much arriving at once according to one of my mail carriers the regular deliveries to the post office are not regular any more in timing nor volume. But yes they did away with in town mail when they went to part time carriers a few years ago but mail was usually still sorted over night so that mail mailed Tuesday would get across town by Friday at the latest but usually by Thursday

Yes that they changed with the switch to 3 part timers not sure why But my ‘local mail’ still went to either Teterboro or New Brunswick was sorted next day and delivered the day after. I never figured out when it went to which processing center because it seemed random. It wasn’t so bad for 50 cents But now, since spring 2020 mail mailed Tuesday to somewhere else in NJ will go to New Brunswick then Teterboro BOTH, ( or some other random processing center in NJ ). then it might make a stop in Philly or Somewhere else in PA before going back to either Teterboro or New Brunswick THEN back to my post office then out to be delivered. Makes no sense.

My car registration is due by the end of March. I realized the other day that I never received the renewal from from the MVC so I went on the website which said they mail them three months before the expiration which would have been in December during the height of this mess. I'm betting it will show up in May, if ever.
ETA: it showed up today, 2/27 - just two months late.

I just received a couple of Christmas cards from the swap. I checked the dates and they were mailed out in late November.

I think this is going to be a good change. Those new trucks look like they are designed much better for package delivery which is what consumes a huge portion of a mail carrier's day these days. I'm glad they will finally get some air conditioning too.
