Walgreens is offering vaccinations to out of county (Los Angeles) frontline essential workers ahead of LA Co's March 1.
I have a stab on Saturday (about 25 miles away) with a second dose more local.

I hope that you don’t have much in the way of side effects. I am getting my first one today. Vox had an interesting explainer on side effects, which are the most likely(headache and fatigue) and pointing out that they are a sign that the vaccination is working.

Good luck!
I got my first dose this past Saturday and only had a sore arm and some fatigue. Dh and I feel like we won the lottery by getting a vaccine before actually contracting COVID.

We're still hunting for our first dose. DH is 73 and I'll be 73 in a few weeks. I keep hearing of other people getting vaccines ~ regular people with no underlying health problems and not having jobs that require early inoculations. It's so disheartening. The worse thing CA did was lower the age to 65 before older people got theirs. They put millions of people into the mix while still not having enough vaccines to make it easier to make appointments.

After always finding all the sites fully booked I happened to click on a link for a CVS near us. They must have JUST added the appointments because I was able to book both DH and me for tomorrow afternoon! Don't give up, you'll find one!

I have been stalking that website and there has been absolutely nothing open within a couple hundred miles. I just got home from the dentist and opened the website and they had tons of available areas. I was typing so fast I was shaking and got both of us in for tomorrow afternoon and our second scheduled in a few week. YAY! I feel like we won the lottery. I did not want to have to go to Disneyland or a stadium. Glad you were successful too. We can now get the hunt for the appointment out of our heads.

Yes, vaccinations seemed to have widely opened up at round here too now I’m kicking myself for getting my ship goes vaccine last week.
But here’s to hoping I can go next weekend my DD plans in stalking the websites until she gets me an appt
ETA - it makes sense though the timing of it. Biden put the defense act into play last month so it took time to get going, in addition the last 2 weeks there have been distribution issues with weather and a back log of rescheduling of cancelled appts.
I’m guessing the last of the rescheduling DS around here happened and that released a bunch of appts

I do the searching... My friend is trying to get appointments for her in-laws who are hounding her ...
They have been giving them at our local health dept. Glad I found one elsewhere because the health dept has never responded to me. I have lived in this town for 50 years.

They recommend two weeks after any vaccine other than Covid. My primary care physician suggested four weeks which was a non-issue for me because it was way after four weeks when I got my first Covid shot after getting my last shingles shot

The CDC says: In general, the CDC advises that no other vaccines be given within 14 days of getting the COVID-19 vaccine. However I’m not sure that means 14 days before and after so I’m waiting the 14 days so as not to screw up either one

Yeah, CA didn't do the best in the way of rolling out the vaccine. Tier 1B part 2 is opening up March 1, and this will add so many people into the mix.

I got my 1st vaccine this afternoon. I honestly didn't even feel it. I got it at CVS. They were highly organized and the appointments were scheduled so they were ready for me exactly at my appointment time, right when I walked in. They gave me an appointment for my second dose. I am so happy to be getting this done. I'd kill for a restaurant meal.

Good luck! I got my first dose last Saturday and it was the least painful injection I've ever had. My arm did get sore a few hours later, and almost exactly 24 hours after I got the shot I got chills and spiked a bit of a fever, but the following morning I felt totally fine. I do wonder how I'll react to the second dose but I'll take temporary discomfort over COVID any day.

I got my first dose this afternoon. Mine was booked through Kaiser Permanente. I had Kaiser as my health insurance through my employer for years and then used them for my supplemental when I turned 65. I was already on another waiting list, but received a text through Kaiser telling me I was approved for immunization. When I first tried to book an appointment, there were none available. I tried for almost a week. Then I logged on around dinnertime and there was an entire page full of openings. I had my appointment for last Wednesday. Unfortunately, I was not feeling well enough to shower and drive over to get the shot. My fatigue was super high as was my pain levels. I cancelled that appointment and waited until dinnertime that same day and again, a full page of openings for today popped up. I think Kaiser releases appointments at that time every day. When I went for the inoculation this afternoon, had to go through 3 different check-in stations. I offered my Kaiser card and my ID at all three stations, and all three said they didn't need it. That really surprised me. While I was in the final line, a woman called my name and said she couldn't find me on the list. She asked if I was a Kaiser patient. I said I was and offered my ID. She refused it and said that since there are so many appointments being made, it might not have gotten transferred to her list. I told her that all three of the stations at the entrance downstairs had my name on their lists. I said that I would pull it up on my phone. She said she had another area to check first. She came back a few seconds later, before I could even pull up the Kaiser website, she pulled me from the line and brought me into the room where the injections were given. I thought there was a problem because I was taken out of line. No problem at all. I was sat in a chair and within a minute, a guy came, took my paperwork and gave me a briefing on what to expect. He said I was to remain for 15 minutes to make sure I wasn't having a reaction and then I could leave. He taped a piece of tape with my release time onto my sleeve and said not to leave before that time. He said someone would be coming by to make the second injection appointment for me and not to leave before that appointment was booked. It was all so fast and well organized. I barely felt the injection, which is unusual for me. And I had forgotten to take a Vicodin prior to the appointment, which is something I typically do when I know I might be experiencing more pain than my time-released morphine can handle. But even without this booster of pain med, I barely felt the injection and told him so. He was so happy to hear that he did a great job. He said most people complain that it hurts. He said he gives approximately 150 injections a day right now, and I was the first person to tell him that he did a great job of it. So the entire time I was there, no one wanted to see either my Kaiser card or my driver's license. I was really surprised, especially since I read about the two women who were caught dressing in older styled clothing and grey wigs trying to get an injection. They were caught because the birth date on their ID did not match what they put on their paperwork. I don't know if they ended up being arrested or not, but I hope they did. They were in their late 30s, I think, and that is stealing a much-needed appointment from someone else who qualified. They just didn't want to wait their turn. I got the impression that anyone could book an appointment through Kaiser for these immunizations. I am going to quickly check their website and come back and let you know. Because if that is the case, they had plenty of appointments open, it was just a matter of knowing what time of day to check. **** I checked and anyone can get their immunization through Kaiser Permanente as long as they qualify. Here is a direct link for the screening questions. There were multiple available appointments just now, but no where near as many as there were earlier. This link is for the Southern California Kaiser facilities: healthy.kaiserpermanente.org/southern-california/health-wellness/coronavirus-information/covid-vaccine/non-member-screenIt looks like they are doing both 1A and 1B, which looks like teachers with paystubs from employers can get their vaccinations now. This is a paste from the qualifiers. ----------------------------------------------------------- Phase 1a: Appointments open as supply arrives Who's eligible? Health care workers Long-term care residents See California Department of Public Health guidelines for Phase 1a. Phase 1b: Appointments open as supply arrives Who’s eligible? Phase 1b includes people 65 and older, as well as people at increased risk of contracting COVID-19 due to their job. Kaiser Permanente is currently prioritizing: People 65 and older As we’re able to vaccinate more individuals in the highest-priority groups and we receive more supply, we’ll vaccinate those at risk of exposure at work in the following sectors: Agriculture and food Education and child careEmergency services

Thanks to pea help, I was able to get my underlying issues resolved and got my shot yesterday. No fatigue, but my arm hurts way more than I expected. I had to get an ice pack in the night as I couldn't sleep. I feel like I am pretty tough, so I'm surprised it aches so much. I wonder if it's because I went for my shot straight from a workout. I got the Pfizer.
