gillyp I want to ask you about your ends on your Queen. Now that I'm getting to the end of my Christmas blanket I'm getting nervous about actually being able to simply crochet over the ends with the border. I'm just worried it's going to be too bulky under the stitches and I would be better served by just weaving them in the traditional way. Give me some advice please. I am currently working on my second Queen border. I have done the back side and I am about 1/3 the way of the front. When I am ready to stitch the two together, at that point I will trim my ends so they are almost the same height as the border. In keeping them the same height on the first Queen I've found the borders where the ends are (the sides) to be not noticeably bulkier than at the top and bottom. I don't think they would be particularly bulky if you'd cut them shorter. I say go for it! Maybe do a short length of border per the pattern and if you don't feel confident with it, unpick it and weave your ends in. I'm sure you will love the finished article, when I look at mine I smile that I have managed to make it! If you are a sew-er, imagine the border as being a bias binding finish for a raw edge of fabric; it's a similar idea. Have you watched Tinna's video specifically for the border? www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZWpdaAKCWIc I know they are different designers but this might put your mind at rest.

Ha! In the time it took me to write I see wellway has helped. We've not linked to the same video. Mine is a short, sample of the border. See what you think from both our replies jeremysgirl . I'm leaving for work now but can take a photo of my first border for you when I get back or tomorrow, if that helps.

Ooh the video was good. But long. But she creates a pocket for the ends. I can do that. This throws a bit of a kink into my border plan. But I can totally do this.

Still the same Sweet Caroline one from a year ago. I had a BIG argument with the next row and it went in the naughty corner. It's still there. This past year has been a bit of a wash-out for me, what with Covid overtime and not feeling well. There's no hurry for it though - it's intended to end up a lap blanket to go into the church pew, and the church are still closed. I can post the link to the pattern if you're interested, but it's a lot like yours is, isn't it? Except that yours is bigger and better! That is stunning. Please do post a link to the pattern. It will be a while before I'm brave enough to tackle something like that, but I love it.

Here it is: crystalsandcrochet.com/product/introducing-sweet-caroline-mini-cal/I just realised that JoP's Sacred Space is by the same designer - that would be why they're so similar! Check out the Octagonal one too. Gorgeous!

Well now I need crafty peas to weigh in on my Christmas blanket. I did not want to do the bell border. I think it's just too busy. Every photo I view on ravelry I like better without the bells. Jeremy is pro bell. And I've managed to find another skein of mustard. So it's fully possible. What are we thinking? Bells or no bells. Hit me with your opinion.

I feel they make the border too fussy and detract from the blanket.

Bells at the top and bottom, like an extension of the body with stripes, cream and mustard down the sides? Just an idea.

I feel they make the border too fussy and detract from the blanket. This is exactly my feeling. Especially given how bright and colorful and busy the blanket already is.

This is my hexagon scrap blanket so far, I've got 24 more to add. I didn't want to buy anymore of the SSDK so I've used different colours of what I had to join. It's going to be big enough for a lap blanket.
Hmmmm, I see “learn how to make hexagons” added to my to-do list. This is so pretty! ❤️

lainey - Are those all socks you made? I am drooling! gillyp and jeremysgirl - Thank you! malibou - googly eyes and whiskers! I started a market basket. No pattern/kit for this one - just making it up as I go, using supplies in my stash. We'll see how it goes...

lainey - Are those all socks you made? I am drooling! Most of them, yes. One pair is in the wash and another pair were gifted to my friend. Does anyone remember yesterday when I said (out loud) that I didn't want to buy any more of the SSDK? Yeah, well I just ordered the colour pack to make the Harmony blanket

I like to keep one blanket going on while I work on shawls and other projects. Now that I'm onto the border of my Christmas blanket, I'm starting to debate my next project. What surprised me is that you chose another granny square. You must really dig grannies. I think they are so beautiful but I just think of all those poor ends to weave and squares to sew together and my head just spins.

Till I made the Aria I'd never done a granny square blanket, I've always preferred to do something in one piece, I surprised myself by actually sticking at it. Lucy is very good and does join as you go which I really enjoyed once I got the hang of it
I'm sorting through a basket of mini books and found this and another book that I made to document some of the adventures we going to have in 2020 I was younger then and full of hope!

Have been through to take a look at the posts yet, but I bought a Silhouette Cameo over 5 years ago. It sat unopened in my craft room, made it through a move 4 years ago, and last week I finally opened it and did some tutorials. I finally used it!
I've also been rock painting (somewhat larger rocks) for a rock garden.

Are you using Studio? I use Sure Cuts ALot. For a beginner, Studio is more straightforward. I started using SCAL with my old Cricut personal and stuck with it when I got my Cameo.

That is a gorgeous blanket. What colors would you work it up in? It is a repeat project. The outer section repeats over and over. I posted in the group yesterday asking about the width in SSDK. And it is about 4" wide. So I figure 8 repeats plus the center will make it about 68" square. I'm thinking of doing a light/dark shade with a lot of white to set it off. A set of pinks, a set of greens, a set of blues and a set of purples repeated twice each. I hope that makes sense.
