I'm still working on my Christmas blanket border...boring...but I want to finish. I placed a wool warehouse order for my yarn to start Whatchamacallit. And I want to have this done by the time it arrives. I'm already working on it this morning and likely will be all day. The double border is a patience tester! But that last joining row when the yarn ends disappear never to be seen again, yay. Hope you made progress yesterday. I've got my Folk Queen started, I'm doing the small traditional. I have 70 of 223 rows done. Watching the many colour changes is fun. After the last Queen which had 20ish repeats of 16 stitch pattern, the folk queen with only 9 repeats seems like cheating.

wellway I made good progress this weekend. I should have it done by the end of the week. And it cracks me up about the Queen you are working on. Did you do the adventurous last time? That looked like an insane amount of counting.

That's a wrap! Wool warehouse shipped my new yarn this morning. Can't wait to get started on Whatchamacallit. But for now Letitia's Christmas CAL is in the wash.

Your border is great, love the tri colour edging. To answer your question on my first Queen, I did the simple version. Adventurous seemed too big a leap for a technique I had not done before. If a repeat is a bit awkward I create a shorthand version on a piece of paper that I can see without stopping, I got fed up at the beginning having to stop and peer at the chart, work out where I was and generally get confused so I made a visual shorthand that works for me. That and a long ruler to highlight the row I'm on!

Your blanket looks like a valuable old tapestry, jeremysgirl. It’s regal. I love how you’ve dedicated yourself to this art.

It ties it together beautifully. I got a little Jamaican vibe when I looked at it with the colored rows at the edge of the border.

I'm kind of in a weird place. My monthly shawl club just shipped. So I'm waiting on it. My new blanket yarn is in transit too from the UK. So who knows when it will get here. And I am needing my friend to wind some yarn for me as I decided that the three purples I got for Waroo weren't enough contrast so I ordered two pinks to go with them. So I will drop off at her house today. I think I will take Waroo on my vacation with me in a couple of weeks.
So I pulled out my nature's walk pattern. I made that blanket a year and a half ago and I've just been making squares in all the random colors I have leftover. I will just keep making them until I have enough and then just join them all together.
It's funny because people always seem to want the blankets that are made from leftovers and with really random colors. People always comment on how much they like my dogs blanket. And I'm like...uh...its completely random with absolutely no plan about it.

I LOVE random color blankets! That’s why the temperature quilt appeals to me. I’m finally getting to work on it today. Finished fraychecking the back of the embroidery and need to clean up the puzzle I have still sitting completed on the sewing table, I mean pool table. Lol
At some point today I’ll get out in the sun and pull weeds but it’s only 8:30 here and it’s still a little chilly out.

I mentioned a while ago about the Great Pottery Throw Down, a U.K. show along the lines of Bake Off. I think it was Rainy_Day_Woman I said it to. I heard today (from a friend who is friends with the father of one of this years’ contestants and mentioned it by the by . ) that the show is being broadcast in the US tomorrow on HBO. Hopefully that will mean something to some of you and some will get to enjoy it!

I just got to spend a couple of days with my brother in San Diego. It was so fun to see all of his purse makes and all the ideas he has.
He showed me a grab bag that he had picked up at a thrift store that was full of skeins of yarn in that twisty skein way. I recognized from you guys that the skeins like that are typically the fancier yarns so I asked him if I could open it up and peak about. Holy crapoly you guys! The grab bag was $4. It contained 17 skeins of yarn. No two were the same colour, but all coordinated and all were new. 13 skeins were cashmere, that turned out to be over $80 per skein. The other 4 were mohair at $55 a skein. He was so freaking excited! He weaves cloth, so buys up the grab bags for weaving. He immediately began making weaving plans and designing a sort of poncho/cardigan. I can't wait to see what he makes.

Wow! malibou that is awesome! What I wouldn't give for a grab bag like that. lainey I just got an email from Wool Warehouse and they are advertising a new fabric line by Dashwood called Hobbies. It looks like it would be right up your alley. You may want to check it out and see what you think.

jeremysgirl it took all I had to fess up to what was in that bag! 😉 And I don't do any yarn crafts. As I was fondling the yarn I had dreams of making sweaters and shawls.
