Congrats and way to go. I cannot imagine it was easy to be pregnant through this time in history. I hope you have as much support as you need and feel the good vibes from this board.

I wish I could respond to everyone individually but obviously a new first time mom doesn’t have the time or energy for that! Thank you all so very much, this baby has been long prayed for and longed for, it is surreal that he’s finally here with us.
It is the early morning hours and he’s just finished a feed and I’m enjoying a cuddle before I hand him off to dad to be swaddled and rocked back to sleep. As difficult the past few days have been I truly would not have been able to handle them without my husband, he has taken to fatherhood very well.
Thank you all again and I promise to take care of myself as best I can!

I'm so glad that your DH is really hands on and "into it" - not all are. I think the sooner dads can get comfortable bathing, rocking, comforting baby, the better for everyone, especially dad and child. I fell in love with my DH all over again, watching him be such a wonderful father. You have been through a physical ordeal. I had as well, when our first child was born. I did not feel the incredible love for my baby I had been led to believe was automatic. It took some time for my body to adjust and for those emotions to appear. Please be gentle with yourself if you're "not quite there yet" (nothing you wrote leads me to believe that is the case), and please accept all reasonable offers of help. Running errands? Bringing meals you want to eat? Awesome! Anything your fam or friends want to do for you that will give you and your DH more time to rest/spend with the baby are precious gifts, for you and for the givers. <3 |
