I just looked thru last years since this one will go in the same album. I wanted to refresh my memory on how I did it and see what worked and what I’d like to change this year.
Last year I did a 2x8 title flap & then the ‘reason why’ page with a photo ( the dog & I because that’s all there was during shelter in place ) backed that page with the ‘right now’ download from the prep day, with details about me. That ‘format’ I’ll keep I guess but not really sure I have a reason why this year other than comparison.
Then I just did a 3x8 page protector with a title card & 3 3x4 pictures for that day. Then a 6x8 page protector with an informal timeline, not exactly hourly or anything, for that day ( on canva ) where the bullet points were 10 thumbnail photos 5 on the right & 5 on the left. On the back of the 6x8 I did one main story a day representing what we were going thru that week ( what I’m loving, the dogs anxiety attacks, working from home, crafting, breakfast routine, by Saturday & Sunday I petered out and just did the photos a title card & the time line & filled the 6x8 out with stamping.
I didn’t use any patterned paper last year at all, just stamping & background stamps & cutting out titles from the prep day on my silhouette. I’ll probably repeat that format. I’m going to use the ‘Year Round’ stamps from Kerri Bradford for my 3x4 daily title cards. I am prepping my 7 3x4 cards ahead of time. I had cream base last year because the epson presentation paper that I printed the timelines on is creamy ish. ( wish they had bright white but I haven’t seen that ) I’m fiddling around seeing if things print well on my solar white because I’m not living the cream of the presentation paper. I hope that won’t look stupid with last year cream & this year white. Any other color would look like just a change in color for this year but light cream to white might just make last year look dingy?
I will just do the same structure/format this year since the point was comparing how different last year was from any year ever ( covid ) so I’ll most likely keep the same format. The timelines should be where the differences will be really obvious since I’m not home everyday anymore. I am only contemplating whether I should do it the same week or not. I’ll have to check my work calendar to make sure there aren’t any issues or conflicts.

mom, thanks for posting the font. I love how they stacked the outline and the solid together. I’m now using it for my title pages for my WITL

Dang am I the only one who never does DITL or WITL projects? Sometimes I think I am, but that's ok. I love to see what others create though. Nope!! I don't even know what that is!! LOL

Shannan Manton did a simple WITL last year with 3 stories for each day: morning, afternoon and evening. Her blog post is here. I like the look but I am unsure. I just love her work. Always so clean and simple but classy!

Always so clean and simple but classy! I agree, I love her work too! Personally, I like just a little more embellishment on my pages. I would describe my style as somewhere between Ali Edwards and Cathy Zielske! Whenever I'm watching an Ali process video and she says something like 'I feel this page needs something more' I'm like, 'no, Ali, you don't need more!' My pages tend to have very little on them.

Looking through my 2020 journaling and at the end of the week I had everyone write out 5 things they are into right now. Not sure where this idea came from but I love it and will do it again this year.

Not sure where this idea came from but I love it and will do it again this year. For December Daily or the start of my PL I will have my family write down a set of favorites, but I somehow skipped it this year in DD and PL, so I'm going to add it to WITL instead. Thanks for the reminder! Also, I'm doing my WITL starting on May 1st. I wrote it down in the planner and on the calendar, so that's it, no more waffling.

I have an AE Journal Card that says "Last Season This Season" I want to use it on my Day One WITL. 2 prompts so far I have President: Dow Jones Close:
What else would be a good prompt? I'm trying to find gas price last April 2020. I'm trying to find Covid Cases/Deaths for the US April 2020, but that seems a bit messy to try and track through.

I have the COVID Timelines that Persnickety Prints e-mailed out for free (or you can go to their site to download) and their April 2020 timeline gives a lot of numbers, including on April 30th "3,090,445 Confirmed Cases Worldwide, Mental Health becoming an issue for many." Prior to that it has April 23 "John Hopkins University has reported over 200,000 deaths, 2.88 million cases, and 813,000 recoveries". There are a lot more dates if you wanted to use them: Persnickety Prints CV Timeline

Who's going to sign up for the prep party on May 8th? I am.
Do you use a design formula for your albums? I'm wondering if this will help me streamline the project more and not feel so overwhelmed by photos.
Has anyone ever been successful at limiting the amount of photos they take each day? How do you plan this? After working on my 2020 album over the weekend I think I take way to many photos, and it felt like a barrier to completing my album in a timely manner.

@citygirl - I am trying to do the same this year. I usually don't do a separate album, but I do use a formula. Last year I did 8.5x11 spreads, each day was a double sided spread with 2 4x6 photos and 4 3x4 photos. I inserted journaling on another page in between these pages with a tab to pull up. I usually insert an overflow photo page somewhere, last year I just did a contact photo sheet print with a bunch of small photos of extra stuff, it worked out nicely. This year, knowing which week it will be, I think I will be more heavy on the journaling, less photos. I was anticipating doing 6x8 because I did buy the kit pieces (no album), but I am thinking of just sticking with 8.5x11 and doing something similar to last year, and just using the journal cards on those spreads. I still need to sort it out. Anyone have any other good digi/printable resources? I am missing IACB. I saw a recommendation for this one Etsy shop that had some Schitt's Creek stuff: www.etsy.com/shop/nellyandclem?ref=simple-shop-header-name&listing_id=970808110I am looking for some more "real life" icons. I have enough words. Only so much I can do with hearts, stars, arrows, etc, even mugs are getting a bit overdone. Not sure what I am looking for, but anything pop culture is prob good? I may have to pick up some of Paper Person's digi/printables. I wish there was more of a à la carte way to get some of these, I don't need such a repetitive set. I want some variety. *sigh*

I am signing up, but not sure if I will participate that day or not. I used a design formula last year and it saved me. I figured out ahead of time how many photos I needed a day (I think it was only 3). I might have to take a photo and share how I did it.

I have assembled the photoshop templates for my daily pages for my blurb book. I’m really excited now for this. Daily I’m doing Landscape pic Word for the day and pic of the day on opening title page aM routine AM pics PM routine PM pics Meals for the day
I’m going to do one member of the family for each weekday with a focus on their routines. Including the cat. Weekend I’m just going to let it flow.
I’m missing the middle of the day. I need to come up with a plan for that. Maybe that’s my task for today. I may just do photo collages and keep it simple with a compilation of the days photos and some journaling.

I've had to change plans and do a bunch of DITL instead of WITL due to some scheduling conflicts. I'll put them together in one album though to get a glimpse at our lives on different days to look back on from this year. Tomorrow is the first one and I have another one scheduled for Tuesday for a Zoom School Day before everyone is back in person next school year.

So after 4 years of trying to prop my phone up with rocks, books, on garbage cans lol I finally broke down and bought a phone tripod. It has flexible legs that wrap around and a remote. It always takes me like 5 tries with the timer mode so hopefully this will be an improvement to my WITL picture taking.
