When I has having trouble with pop ups, the IT guy from the Geek Squad had me switch to FireFox from Windows Edge, and then cleaned up all the sites I usually frequent, so I can use FireFox to access the Peas. And most sites it claims are "unsafe", it simply gives me an option to over ride the blocking, but that option is not available for Shimelle's site. I think this is simply due to Shimelle not enabling/not having the environment to support the https protocol for her website. Since people pay through Paypal (so, the password goes through Paypal directly, not actually shimelle.com, and Paypal redirects you to her website after completing the purchase), this isn't a major security issue. I have no unsafe warnings through my web browser (Opera) when visiting her website and forum if that's any consolation. Hope this eases your mind!

Can't wait to see everyone's layouts and hear what the Peas think of the class! ETA, I just added #shimellehalfandhalf to my Instagram feed, and there are already so many great layouts on there

Is there a schedule of when she will post the class videos?

Is there a schedule of when she will post the class videos? She said on yesterday's video, "See you tomorrow". Not up yet, but I am thinking about the same time as yesterday, so some time this morning?

Is there a schedule of when she will post the class videos? I have been stalking. And the video just dropped into the class thread!

Thanks grammadee!
In case anyone hasn't received their email, I just got it and it said the schedule is roughly Monday-Wednesday-Friday

At the end of today's video, she says the next one will be "in a few days", so Friday fits. I think she's wary of promising too specifically because of all the potential for disruptions, like if one of WB's classmates tests positive for CoViD and he's back home again for a few days. It's happened at least once this past school term. She probably doesn't want to jinx herself, besides not wanting to let people down!

What did you all think of the first class?
I like her style of teaching (this is the first class I've taken from her), but wasn't too crazy about the ton of layers she used. I do think I can learn a lot from this class though and can tailor it to my style.

I love that it's easy to go heavy handed (or not) depending on your preferences. I enjoy watching her thought process as she works through her design. Things she considers and either uses or discards. I'm all in for whatever she has to share. I'm definitely someone who watches her videos and talks at her while she's auditioning where things go on her layout ("no, not there!", etc.)

I do think I can learn a lot from this class though and can tailor it to my style. Shimelle's value is really in the all the detailed information she gives rather than a guiding hand for the exact aesthetic she goes for as far as I'm concerned. I'm on the opposite side of the spectrum: muted tones most of the times, minimalism, clean look, few layers. But I've learned more from watching Shimelle explain how she does her scrapbooking than from anyone else. It's absolutely fascinating to me that someone so far removed from my style continues to teach and inspire me. I'm looking forward to multiple photo dynamics. I like how Shimelle plays around to find the right placement when using more than one photo on her page.

Every little piece on her layout is there for a reason and exactly where she wants it. She’s not just sticking random stuff down. She explains it so well. I can’t wait to watch the second class tomorrow! (And hopefully work on my layout for the first class lol)

I really enjoyed the first video and have already made a layout from it. I always feel like Shimelle puts too many layers and colours and patterns for my style but as sleepingbooty said the value is in the principles she teaches rather than straight up copying her pages. Despite the fact that I will never mix colour and pattern the way she does, I find her classes incredibly inspiring and educational, and I think I've learnt more from her than any other online class I've taken. While I'm ok with being pushed out of my comfort zone occasionally I definitely tweak things to better fit my style. Here's my first page:

Chinagirl828 Gorgeous layout! sleepingbooty 100% agree. I'm way more minimal in my scrapping style but hearing her thought process in such detail is fascinating and I've learned more from her than any other teacher. I'm loving the class. I'm curious to try out a layout with more layers just for the fun of it. And if I don't like it, as Shimelle says, it's just paper. They make more.

I liked the first lesson with her tips on lining up all of the layers. I made a page that was out of my comfort range after watching the video. It was hard to pick out the layers, but in the end I like how it turned out.
The second lesson was better for some of her process tips (colors and more lining up tips). The 4 photos across is more of what I do (rarely do I use only one photo) so I hope to try out the ideas this weekend.

Chinagirl828 beautiful layout! I’m definitely more of a minimalist scrapper, but I’m enjoying her approach. I’ve been in a bit of a creative slump so I think this is going to help. Looking forward to watching the second video- using a block of photos is more my typical page.

Here’s my LO based on her first video. I’ve had the monopoly vellum forever! A bit out of my comfort zone with the eclectic layers and patterns but I like the hopeful, cheerful vibe it brings.

I didn’t think I’d love this class with all of the backgrounds being very similar, but so far they have been great! I’ll post my LO’s here shortly.
I hope you’ll all do the same!

I think it really shows what a difference paper and photo choices make to a layout. Looking at the lesson threads on Shimelle's forum, it is hard to believe all the layouts came from the same prompt.

Here are my layouts for the first 2 lessons. I am using photos from 4 different vacations and from my granddaughter’s first 2 years, so that I get some variety in the papers I’m using. Lesson 1: my very connected baby girl! Lesson 2: Anthropology Museum in Mexico City. No title, as there will be another page to the left of this which will have the title but no journaling.

I signed up for the class Saturday morning. I haven't received and email yet, but I know we are more than few hours apart in time zones and she doesn't work on Sundays.
Loving all of the Pea layouts!

I loved her first layout and plan on scraplifting it later today. I don’t know if I will use as many layers as Shimelle but I do loved the layered look!

I loved the classes and have printed off the pdf's for the first two classes. In the middle of making cards that need to go out this week, but hoping to get to some more pages over the next few days. Not sure if I am feeling more inspired or overwhelmed. Her pages are SOOO GOOOOD....
Hoping you get signed on soon, 950nancy. Check your junk mail folder. Looking forward to seeing your pages, KikiPea and craftymom101 . Left love for Chinagirl828 and schroema on Flickr. sueg , your pages are great! Love that pic of that connected little girl! And all the colours and embellishments to go with it! And I love that you replaced Shimelle's 4 small pic's with two larger ones for the second page. Those papers go really well with the zoo theme.

I double checked my PayPal account a purchased the class on Friday. Just sent her an email with my info just in case I did something amiss. It wouldn't be the first time.

Maybe it's just me, but I'm fascinated by how even though each piece of paper is the same size, one side always looks bigger to me. It's a strange optical illusion.

sueg I love how the GG looks with that cute photo of your DGD, and the super cool sunnies piece is perfect embellishment. I adore the paper combo on your second page, it's so soft and muted with that little pop of the bright green.
