Thanks to our Norwegian peas for sharing their country's history. I was not at all aware that there were camps in Norway. I know there's always too much to teach, but I felt like I missed a ton of the collaboration that occurred in occupied countries during WW2. I also didn't really understand at all the role US anti-Semitism had in both "dealing" with Germany as well as refusing to allow Jewish refugees sanctuary. I had the opportunity to visit the museum in Munich that showed so much of the Nazi propaganda and Hitler's rise. It was powerful.

Why do you think there are Holocaust deniers?
Of people who try to diminish the atrocity that the Holocaust was?
I read something that said the reason why the Confederate Flag isn’t banned but the Nazi flag is, is because America is proud.

That's sad - it was such a pivotal moment in our history.
I lived in Germany in my early 20's. My landlord was a Dachu camp survivor. He and his wife took me to Dachu before I moved back to the US. It was so emotional to walk the camp with him. I was so gratefulhe shared that with me. I know it was very difficult for him to return there.

I can name at least 4. I read a book in 5th grade, and I wish I could remember the title but it was set in Holland I want to say. The Room Upstairs? The end, when the girls were liberated and they were walking 'funny' because they hadn't been able to walk for so long, I just cried. At that time I didn't fully understand the Holocaust, really, I knew Hitler was a terrible person but it wasn't until I was 12 and read Diary of Anne Frank that I understood.
I haven't been able to visit the Holocaust Museum because I'm a coward, plain and simple. I've made sure my DDs understand the history as well.
I recommend a movie called The Devil's Arithmetic with Kirstin Dunst.

I recommend a movie called The Devil's Arithmetic with Kirstin Dunst. I read the book years ago, but I didn’t realize there’s a movie. Thanks! Will look for it.

The 5th slide is where it’s at.
That’s why you take issue with me posting. If I make you aware, then you’d have to do something, only you don’t want to. So now you are mad because I won’t stop and now ignoring the killings doesn’t compute with you being good and white. How many Black people have to die?

I wasn’t aware either, although I knew that there was Dutch resistance. Not too long ago I read about some young Dutch resistance fighters who were executed by the Nazis.
