When we built I opted for the 80/20 sink (with a garbage disposal in the 20) and I love it. I have a dishwasher but now that we are empty nesters I rarely use it (maybe once a month when we have a big family meal with all of the kids).
I like washing in the 80 side and rinse quickly in the 20 side and then into the drainer to dry. Again - it is just the two of us so very few dishes to do.
I also like defrosting meat or rinsing/drying berries in the 20 side which leaves the 80 side open for washing hands etc

Not one bit. I’m bummed to be moving into a house with two sinks! (Rental so I can’t change it).

This is unexpectedly an interesting thread. I don't think one person has shrugged and said whatever, everyone has had a strong opinion. I’ll be the first. I’ve had single, 50/50 double, 80/20 double, and it just doesn’t really matter to me. We never leave dishes in the sink and are huge dishwasher users and wash as we go dinner preparers. Any of them work. I feel strange not having a strong opinion after reading this thread!

we got a faucet with a sensor, so we can set it so you just wave your hand in front and it turns on!!! great with messy hands. As strongly as I feel about having a double sink, I will give that up before I give up my tap on/off faucet. I LOVE that thing with all my heart!!

Not at all. I love my single sink. Most of the time when I am washing dishes, it is for bigger items, so the bigger sink comes in handy. If I am doing a bunch of smaller dishes, one of them is usually something I make into my bowl of hot soapy water and go from there.

I went from double to single when we had a new counter put in last summer. I love it. It’s deep and the left side I wider than the right so it’s not quite a rectangle. I have a small dish drain that fits in the smaller side and I can still wash a large pain in the left. Love my sink!

We've had a couple of these threads, and I seem to be the only person who loves a double sink and would never change to one big sink! I am with you. Mine is split 1/2 and 1/2. My moms is 3/4 and 1/4 and that gets annoying. I like being able to split up my items to dishwasher and hand wash.

I also like defrosting meat or rinsing/drying berries in the 20 side 🤯 I legit never thought of that. Any of it. I did recently get a tiny drainer that fits in there and keeps my counter clear. I’m super happy with it. Otherwise I would be taking a lesson or two from you.

My preference is one large deep sink.
