I have Samsung so I don't have this issue, but everybody else has airpods.
Dh would like a pair. Are airpods really worth the extra $$$? He will use them on a plane and maybe while doing some yard work.
I have an anker set that work fine for me. But I've never had airpods

My dds absolutely love theirs. I have some and dislike them. They work great sound wise, but after about 15 minutes they just hurt my ears.

DH swears by his pair. In fact, he kept the first pair as a backup when he upgraded to the newest set. DD swears by hers as well. I am not a fan of ear pods of any brand, so don't see the fascination, but I have yet to hear of anyone who isn't happy with the Apple ear pods. If that's the brand that your DH wants, I don't see the issue. Since he is the one using them, the choice should be his.

Yes! I tried so many other ear buds, because I didn’t want to spend the money on the AirPods. The money I wasted would have covered the cost of AirPods. I use my AirPods everyday.

I like them. They aren’t super-comfy after I’ve had them in for a while, but I can still manage to wear them for three hour meetings no problem. I particularly love how they connect instantly to both my iPad and iPhone as soon as I either put them in or pick up one of my devices. I often wear a single one while I’m in bed so I can watch YouTube videos before I nod off without disturbing DH.

For those of us with trouble finding earbuds that fit our ears, try Raycon. They come with four (or five, I can't remember) different sized silicone ear pad things for you to find the best fit. You might even use different sized pads in each ear. Half the price of airpods and work perfectly, and waterproof. I have the middle priced style for running. And I love that they don't have that white stick looking thing hanging out of your ear.

My dh loves his jaybirds instead... they are better for being active while you wear them... still pricey... but he runs and doesn't worry about them falling out... also the sweat moisture doesnt damage them... he had airpods but they didn't work too run in

I love my AirPods Pro. I bought them on Black Friday but I’m just now getting around to using them. And I was pleasantly surprised when I was wearing them while working in the yard the other day and they read out a text to me from my phone!
That being said, I also have some Purity True Wireless Earbuds that were less than 20 bucks and they are super comfortable with great sound quality.

I had an older pair that has battery issues. They only last about 30 minutes. I ended buying a cheaper pair off of Amazon for about $30 called mpow solo. They work great. They fit nicely and pair instantly with my devices. I didn’t buy another Airpod because Apple is supposed to be coming out with a newer model this year. I want to wait for those but I needed something now.

I got a pair during a Black Friday sale last year. I love the convenience of them, especially when I’m sewing. I like to listen to audio books or podcasts and it’s so much easier to hear with the AirPods in my ear. My machine isn’t loud, but just loud enough I guess. I can also use the powder room and they stay connected. I find that nice if I’m listening to something on my iPad vs iphone. I haven’t tried them traveling yet, but will do so this week. I hope I don’t regret not bringing my big earphones. They’re noise canceling and comfortable, but so bulky!

I was gifted a pair of Airpods and I love the automatic connections and sound quality, but they are just so dang uncomfortable after an hour or so that I hardly use them.

My dd loves hers. Me, I'm afraid to buy them because I can never get earbuds to fit/stay in my ears and I'm afraid I'd lose the airpod ones. Too expensive to risk that. So I just bought myself a $25 set of bluetooth random-brand ones that have a little behind-the-ear thing to ensure they don't fall out. I like them just fine and they don't hurt my ears. The one thing they don't do that the airpods do is to disconnect when you take one out of your ear. I've been listening to audiobooks while walking and it's been a problem when I'm here in my neighborhood and I pass neighbors who want to talk. I have to pull out my phone and push pause, whereas dd can just take out one earbud. But still, that's not enough to make me risk losing one.

I got Anker ones because they were supposed to be great. Didn't love them and they didn't fit well in my ears. Returned them.
I bought JLab Go Air earbuds and LOVE them! I can wear them for hours on end with no issues. My ear canals are freakishly small and apparently hard to fit earbuds into.
My 9 year old has Jlab Go Air and Jlab Sport and uses the air ones more than the sport.
My 5 year old stole my JLab headphones when his corded ones broke.
I gotta say- my kids abuse their devices and these all still work great! I'm a JLab convert.

The ear buds that came with my phone never fit right but my AirPods are perfect. I never feel like I’m going to lost them. Also I use one at a time.

I love mine. I have tiny ear canals, so to me it was worth it to get the pro version for the multi-sized silicone tips. The smallest ones are perfect.
I actually got them last year when we started online learning and then online professional development. I needed something I could wear comfortably for several hours. These fit the bill.
I’m extremely careful with them, so unlikely to lose them.

I know you're asking about Airpods, but might I suggest Beats? I have Beats Pro earbuds and love them. They work well with Apple products because Apple bought Beats. I like that they fit around my ear; they feel more secure than Airpods. They have different silicone buds so he can find a nice fit. Plus they have volume control buttons and you can double-tap to FF or rewind. To me, the controls make them more useful than Airpods. (I have siri turned off and I'm not always near my ipod when I listen to podcasts, so Airpods weren't as practical for me.) @monklady they might work for you because they pause when you take one out.
TLDR: if he wants a nice pair of earbuds, go for it. But maybe it doesn't have to be Airpods? There are some good options out there.

If your dh has an iPhone, then the quick connect and switching features of AirPods might be worth it to him. I’ve had the regular AirPods and the AirPods Pro and have really loved both, especially since I also have a MacBook and iPad, so heavily in the Apple ecosystem.
The AirPods Pro are pricier, but have noise cancelling that works well, and they have a more traditional fit in the ear canal. The original AirPods are shaped like the EarPods that used to come with all iPhones. Not everyone likes the way they fit, so that might be a consideration.
My son has an iPhone but prefers the Jaybird wireless earbuds because he says they stay in his ears better for runs and working out, and are more sweat/water resistant. He had a charging issue with one of the earbuds but Jaybird CS was great and sent him out a replacement right away.
You have a 14 day return period with Apple products, so if your dh doesn’t like the way they fit you can return them….

I have tiny ears and the AirPod pros are amazing! They are worth the extra money over the regular air pods. If you do get them I recommend getting the Apple Card insurance. DD dropped hers in the dogs water about 2 months ago and the microphone stopped working. We expelled the water but it just wouldn’t work. Then the ear piece stopped working over the weekend. Took them to the Apple store today and got a refurbished pair for no additional cost.

DH has AirPods and loves them. I've never been interested because Apple earbuds always hurt my ears and I just don't use earbuds often enough to justify pricey ones. But I was given a pair of Sony earbuds (the WF-1000XM3) that are supposed to be comparable to Airpods and they are pretty awesome. The sound quality and noise cancellation are both amazing, and they fit my ears better than any Apple product ever did (and came with 6 pairs of adapters).

Are you sure there isn't a button of some sort on your earbuds? We have 3 different brands and all of them have at least one control button that you can press to pause/play What you are listening to.

Not a fan. They hurt my ears AND dont stay in well. I do love my Beats Pro though. Over the air fit means they never fall out and they have excellent sound.work very well with all my apple products

I love mine. Especially when I’m trying to work and hubby just can’t be quiet. Pop them in and I don’t hear anything else. It was so worth the cost to get them. It took a good year before I broke down and purchased them about two months ago.

OMG, Genius! hahahahahaha at me... I just mentioned your comment to dd and she opened the case to look at the earbuds... "Mom, it's right here!" lol... it's right in the middle of the earbud but to me it's not at all obvious... there's a tiny mark on the rubbery cover and the actual button is under that. I thought it was just a design. lol. Thanks!
