If not, what do you do with all of the things like scissors, tape, pens and random crap? I do have a junk drawer, and I cannot keep it organized for the life of me. I try. I really do. I kind of want to not have one and use my junk drawer for something more useful, but then I don't know where to put all the stuff in my junk drawer. That is my random dumb question of the day!

I've always had a junk drawer - and it is always organized. My mom used to show it off to people. The secret is to pull out the stuff and organize it into groups, then buy organizers to fit those groups. I make a template of the drawer and lay out the organizers on that to get the most efficient use of space. Note those green things in the upper right corner - one of my 2Peas inspired purchases!

We don't have a junk drawer, we have a large cabinet with drawers (kind of like a card catalog but the drawers are bigger) and each drawer is labeled.
So there's a pen drawer, an office supplies (staples, sticky notes etc) drawer, a scissors drawer...and the pencil sharpener, stapler, and hole punch live on top. Of course, my 16-year-old decided she didn't like my labels or organization, and redid the whole thing, and now it doesn't work very well and I need to redo it. Summer project...

We have 3, maybe 4! Yes, a proud moment! 😂
We have one in the kitchen, a very small one in the office, one in my craft room. and I guess you can say a small one in the garage. It is all duplicate items, so we can probably minimize down to one, but then we would have to go to other rooms when we need tape, scissors, etc. Easier to just have duplicates in the different rooms that we use the items. They are all organized with plastic bins.

no, I don't.
I have shoebox sized plastic containers in the upstairs hall closet to organise extra desk supplies etc... Scissors are in every pen cup (my desk, the girls' desks, DH's desk, and the school bookcase)
Matches are in the medicine cabinet in the kitchen (a small upper cabinet with first aid supplies and medicines)
tools are either in the toolbox in the garage (the 'indoor' tools) or in DH's workshop. random screws etc...DH bought a box with lots of little containers and sorted them all into that.
Batteries are in an open basket in the garage
we don't save tie tags etc...

I do have a "junk" drawer in the kitchen, and a second in my deck. I have found that putting only the things i determined as junk when I set it up helps keep it from becoming overwhelming and it stays organized. Also, little plastic, cardboard, whatever bins for the different kinds of "junk" really helps!

I have a junk drawer that would be incredibly organized if I limited access to it. My family loves knowing where to find something and just hasn't grasped the fact that things needed to be place back in their spot to be found again next time they need it.

I don’t have a junk drawer.
I don’t really understand the concept.
To me, everything you mentioned in the OP is not random crap, it is specific stuff with a specific purpose. Therefore it has a home where it can be conveniently used for that purpose.
My kitchen scissors are with my kitchen knives. The school supply scissors are in the school supply caddy in the homeschool room. The sewing scissors are in my sewing basket.
I can’t think of anything random that I keep in my home that I would need a junk drawer for. There’s a place for everything and everything in its place.

We have a drawer. But it's organized, and I wouldn't call it junk. It's all there for a purpose, and has a use. My drawer has pens/sharpies/pencils, envelopes, batteries, and note pads of various sizes. Also any business cards that get collected go there.

We did at our last house. In our new house, drawer space in the kitchen is at a premium, so we don't have one. I have a small basket on an under the counter shelf (built in) that houses a pair of scissors, some pens and pencils, some paper clips, rubber bands etc... Other items that used to be in the drawer ie.. tape measure, small tools, flashlight, batteries etc... are now in labeled, clear containers, on a shelf in our laundry room, so we don't have to go out to the garage or shop should we need them in the house. It's convenient to have them in the house, especially in winter, when you don't want to tromp through the snow to get a tape measure. (We don't have a door that connects to the attached garage, so we have to go outside to access it).

I have an organized drawer of things that I use in the kitchen that are not food related. Pens, scissors, measuring tape, a couple tools, notepads, flower cutters... things like that. It's not junk, but it has earned a drawer in my kitchen.
Anything in my kitchen has to earn its space.

is the scissor draw the junk drawer? we have three drawers. the smallest is the scissor drawer that just holds scissors, markers, and clips. then there is the medium drawer for screwdrivers, measuring tape, hammer, command hooks, etc. then there is the largest drawer for misc. household stuff that should not go with the other two drawers. i'm kind of a freak about organizing so no "junk" drawer per se.

Like some of the others, I am wondering what a junk drawer would hold?
Pens, scissors, rubber bands, sticky tape etc all have their designated spaces/containers so to me, they are not junk. They are just household items living where they are supposed to live.
Perhaps you mean things like that, just thrown willy-nilly into a drawer? In thats case - no, we don’t have one. We do have a drawer in the kitchen with a cutlery insert (such as where you store your knives, spoons, forks) with pens, pencils, markers, scissors, a box cutters, rubber bands, safety pins, bandaids, etc in the various sections. And we have also some of those items in other parts of the house too, wherever they are likely to be needed.
I am a great believer in everything being stored where it is most likely to be used - apart from then being able to get it when you need it, it is easy to put away again after. And that’s the key!

Yes, but 100% organized. I’ve always used those modular white plastic Rubbermaid containers that fit together with the rims interlocking. My purse is a more traditional junk drawer. My junk drawer is as organized as I’d like my purse to be! 😂

I actually have 2 also. One is for office supplies and the other is for tools. I am very fortunate to be able to have enough space for both.

I have a very small catch all drawer in my kitchen. I don't really attempt to keep it organized per say, but when it gets too full then I do a purge and start over again.

No, but I have things that don't have a home Scissors, sellotape, rubber bands, all stationery things have homes but where do you keep things that if you don't see you'll forget them...like my vitamins, the post office receipt that I don't want to 'file' because I need to make sure I get my refund for what I've returned and the cuticle oil so I don't forget to use it a couple of times a day...

I have more junk drawers than I do other kinds of drawers. I have different kinds of junk and too much to fit in one drawer. One has pens, pencils, rubber bands, paper clips, glue, paint brushes.... A second drawer has stuff like batteries, misc gizmos and gadgets, birthday candles, sewing notions, true junk.
I have a drawer with tools, rolls of duct tape, garden gloves, misc screws, left over parts from assembled stuff... I have drawers with the most random stuff like old cameras, placemats, cords, plugs, old cell phones.....
Then there are the cabinets. So many cabinets filled with miscellany. One of these days I am just going to go on a tear and start tossing stuff right and left.

We have more than one I'm sure we could have everything in its place, but I'm not running downstairs and into my craft room if I want scissors or tape. I'm lazy and I know that about myself. So several junk drawers it is!

Oh yes. I clean it out periodically, but it always seems to be a mess. Lol, after reading this thread, I’m glad that the organized Peas can’t see my messy junk drawer.

We have a catch all basket in the kitchen (not enough drawers to use a drawer for that). It had all kinds of stuff that I always try to find a spot for but can never seem to kept it under control.
