Hi June Divas! Celebrating a new month, a new start, and 2 new challenge team players: @zingermack and MARIBETHR !!! Welcome to the very informal "team" "challenge" environment - a place for chit chat, encouragement, sharing, and zero pressure. I put team in quotes because I think half the time peas forget which team they are on...we're that cutthroat For the record, our team consists of: kellyr21, joblackford, MARIBETHR, nylene, natscraps, azcrafty, teacherlisa, Chinagirl828, grammadee, @zingermack, scrappyrabbitPlease feel free to ask questions about challenges and point scoring here. First task: dig deep and POST YOUR CHALLENGES! My advice is to pick 1. something you are GOOD AT/ENJOY/ARE WORKING ON and can thus rack up the points with or 2. pick something you WANT TO TRULY CHALLENGE YOURSELF TO TRY. One suggestion: when you post challenges, you are responsible for assigning points. If you post "use stars", the assumption is that you get 1 point/project that has any number of stars. If you post "use stars, 1 point/star" that will apply! YOU DECIDE. If a challenge feels hard to you, assign 5 points to it! However, last month in this thread we discussed how many peas found it to be discouraging when there were complicated scoring systems (ahem. I am guilty of this!) so consider simplicity in your points assignment! (example: one of my "bad" scroring systems "1 point if a product was over 2 years old, 2 points if it was over 5 years old, 5 points if it was over 10 years old...") There is always easy peasy scoring (20 points for a standard layout) if you prefer. Hoping everyone's mojo is flowing and June is a great month for all! To start us off, let's each post one of our favourite creations from the past 6 months or so we can get an idea of who each other are as a crafters (and can then heap lavish praise on each other even if we've posted them before because that's the idea of our teams ) Me? The busy clustered never-simple 12x12 layout scrapper. This feels like a standard example of what I like to make: layout the best jumper by kirstendrew, on Flickr

Hello, DIVA's! Thanks, kitbop, for explaining about setting the challenges and the points. New players, be sure to ask lots of questions if you need clarification. Lots of time what I write for rules seems very clear to ME, but not to others. The page you chose, kitbop, is beautiful from beginning to end, and I love how well designed your pages are. To answer your question about what type of scrapper I am, I think I answered somewhere else that my style is Ecclectic and MESSY. Just went through my photostream on Flickr to see if anything really stood out as representative, or a favourite. I decided to share this page b/c it has alot of my quirks (blues and browns, torn inked edges, lots of photos and some sloppy attempts at clusters). I also tend to work at either planned two pagers or coordinated looks for companion pages. This one has a partner which I shared on a different day. A&D Campground 1 by Gramma Dee, on Flickr Looking forward to seeing what everyone else chooses to share.

Yes, I loved this layout of yours grammadee! The title gives me such a chuckle. I would add to your scrappy description that you use themes well - like themed paper, themed embellies - and even use them well in unintended situations!!!

Well I don't know that one piece can really represent how I scrap as I am pretty much all over the board. My example it the largest project I am currently working on which is making a scapbook page for every County Courthouse in America. There are 3,144 of them. I use this same layout structure (with a few exceptions) for all the pages, changing the papers, border and embellishments a bit. I consider my style pretty simple overall. I also am making Julie Nutting doll art journal pages in a 6x8 format. I do greeting cards and ATC's as well.

MARIBETHR, I envy your focus. And I appreciate the clean and simple style of your courthouse pages. Yet I know that some of your smaller projects--cards and decor items and ATC's--have been very elaborate with delicate elements.

Here's one of my IG posta w/a page on it that's pretty me. I'm pretty minimal - just mostly paper and pictures and journaling. I'm also a weirdo about sharing pix online - so mine will usually have people redacted. But hoping that doesn't mean that the challenge response doesn't show. http://instagram.com/p/CLlCa2zA6Qo

Happy June Divas, I'm excited about the last weekend of this month. I'm going to virtual summer camp with Concord & 9th, this is my very first try at this and looking forward to play and get my box of goodies- already on its way and should arrive soon 💃. I'm a card maker and made a couple mini albums lately. I'm not sure what my style is, I love to use dies, especially flowers and sentiments, I tend to use softer colors and keep my cards more on the simple side. Like to try new techniques. I made some cards with leftover die cuts. Im still in love with the blue, pink and rosegold color combo. @teamspellbinders flower dies are the best ever! #teamspellbinders http://instagram.com/p/CN9LK2Dp4Of

I wish I would have known about this event I would have loved to attend. This is my kind of event. So many events began in 2020, and I am always looking for more of them. Have a wonderful time at Concord and 9th summer camp. Your cards are lovely, I really like all the colors and the soft feel of them.

nylene, I really do think that is a SPECTACULAR page. The die cut is so beautiful and you both manage to highlight it but also let it fade away behind the photo to perfection. Everything you chose on this page seems so perfect, I'm sure it took decision after decision to get it to come out like this! azcrafty - your cards are always stunning. I love that you always use background texture/layers plus overlying clusters. Your designs were my inspiration when I created my "mom" card with the rainbow triangles, because I took the extra step of embossing the background, and it was so much better after I did! Funny that you see them as on the "simpler side". That colour combination is just stunning; I think it's the depth of the blue contrasting with the pale pink that does it for me. MARIBETHR and azcrafty - I am trying my first ever virtual events this fall. I've purchased classes before but just with video/pdf content, not with a kit shipped to me. I'm excited. I think just maybe it's one small positive thing that has come out of covid - that classes that previously were limited to region/city or required travel can now be offered to all.

kitbop "classes that previously were limited to region/city or required travel can now be offered to all." And I hope they keep doing it too as I do not have the means to travel to these shows, and no one ever comes to New Mexico (LOL)

Your cards are beautiful, azcrafty. I love those delicate card front panels. Do you cut them on sticky back cs? I just use my bearly art glue super detailed top and I just add dots of glue with it here and there. It works out good. I think I'm just too cheap to use my double sided wide tape...

nylene I love that soft cutfile and pretty blue background paper to make that photo pop! kitbop your style is so beautiful and artistic. I love all your pages that you share! azcrafty I am sure your card recipients are so grateful for the little pop of beauty that lands in their mailboxes I don't think I really have a style... or maybe someone on here can help me define my style. I like pattern paper, but I don't tend to use too many layers on one page. I love a good embellishment cluster, though. I don't always use titles, and my journaling varies depending on how much room I have. I tend to use more than one photo, but I appreciate a one-photo layout that lets me be a little more artistic with the design. I also love making cards with my scraps! I am lucky enough that my mom scrapbooked when I was young, and now she is more into her Cricut and making things for people. Sometimes I can get her to make some embellishments for my layouts. Here is an older layout of mine from last Fall that I still love Alpaca photo shoot layouts by scrappy rabbit, on Flickr

Does it work now? It shows for me, so I can't tell if/when others can't see it. Yes, and it is beautiful. Great photographs of that fall foiage. Love the muted browns & golds to support the fall theme.
And scrappyrabbit, Those photos are gorgeous. I love your clusters. And how you matched that blue stripe on the pp so perfectly with his shirt.

@zingermack, I can see it now! I'm sure your redacted photo also shows fall foliage Love the brown gingam and the emphasizing "yay fall", that made me smile! scrappyrabbit - I can spot one of your layouts easily in the gallery! PP background; 2+ photos, unifying piece or layers of pp, a cluster or 2, and interesting intersections and angles! This one is really charming, your fall clusters are really pretty and love the tags/title.

@zingermack, your photos on you page are wonderful. I love the way they pop against your background patterned paper. Thanks for posting it again so we could see it. scrappyrabbit, that's a lovely layout. I left you love in the gallery. azcrafty, I left some love on Instagram. I don't really do Instagram, but my DD signed me up and it allows me to see things she posts. Looks like with a link I can see other things too.

Hi Divas I'm mostly a card maker. I make cards to sell (mostly one of a kind cards, partly because I'm always experimenting and have trouble repeating myself) and also cards to donate to Bring Smiles to Seniors. The donation cards are where I get to play without worrying about keeping track of inventory or second-guessing what people will like. I like to use up an entire 6x6 pad and all the die cuts when I make donation cards so I can make 20-40 in a weekend if I'm in the right mood. I use a lot of patterned paper and die cuts, lots of Doodlebug puns, and bold stamped florals. This card has some of my favorite things - bumblebees and blossoms, a background that looks like ink blending but is actually patterned paper (Ella & Viv, it's the best), and a big bold design that fills all of the space. I can't do those little Lawn Fawn scenes. March sharing by jo.blackford, on Flickr

Hey team. I love stepping into the team thread to find it filled with pretty projects! I'll be back to leave some praise for everyone, but for now I'm doing a drive by check in before I make dinner. This is a page I haven't shared online before but I love, and I think is fairly typical of my style: travel photos, softer colours, layered up clusters. I'm leaning slightly more towards patterned paper backgrounds at the moment but I think that's driven by participating in Shimelle's half and half class, and my need to actually use some of my paper stash (which goes down very slowly when you only use a narrow strip of paper across a double page spread).

Chinagirl828 WOW your pages are stunning. Your photos make such an impact with the embellishments as an enhancement to the pages and not acting as the focus.

Okay team leader kitbop my first newbie question (and I guarantee it will not be the last). For the Card Making challenge it says 10 extra points for masculine themed cards this month. So let me see if I get this straight. If I make a card I get 1 point for making the card, 1 point if I share the card, and if the card is a masculine themed card I would get an additional 10 points? Also, if I used items on the card that will be shown after tonight at 9PM then I would count up those points as well? I will catch on quick, but I do tend to question everything when it comes to counting points. I am one of these annoying rule followers and I never want to break a rule. Thanks for your help.

I am one of these annoying rule followers and I never want to break a rule. I think a lot of us worry that we are "taking advantage" of points and apply them sparingly! Your interpretation you wrote is correct. However - and maybe grammadee can help me out here - I believe that if you make a "batch" of cards that are the same pattern/design, you are supposed to claim the 10 bonus points once/design, but if you are making individually designed cards it would be 10 points/card. I haven't posted my own challenges yet , but will do so in the next couple of hours. I hope all of you have posted a few of your own???!!!

Your challenges are great, MARIBETHR. Will check with the originator of the card challenge about the bonus points technicality. Otherwise, your analysis of how to score sounds right on!
