Changed the name again. I like this one better.
Changed the name of the thread because this seems to be the new norm.
Country’s response 🤷🏻♀️

His daughter would have graduated from high school this month if she hadn’t been gunned down in Parkland.

Well this is certainly going to stop future mass shootings.,,
No I’m not blaming Biden because his hands are tied.

Still waiting for that good guy with a gun to save the day(s), especially Texas where many seem so gun-ho. They should have it down pat by now.
Odd that they don't. Hmmm...

Things will only change if we’re all willing to vote for elected officials willing to make changes. Too many people prioritize other things.

(😡 🤬 😡) The “good guy with the gun” has the damn things left at home locked in a gun safe. So tired of shooting after shooting and nothing being done to stop it. The “well regulated militia” needs to be regulated (enforced laws).

Not sure of the number, but I think around 75% of the people are for more gun safety regulations, background checks etc! It just the old white men(of course the white GOP women too) in Congress who collect the gun lobby monies who do not agree with the people!!

This is all so heartbreaking and scary. I told my husband it's like we're gearing up to for the Wild Wild West Part II and we are determined to live up the "crazy Americans" title.

When I lived overseas, SO many people asked me, "What's up with the guns?" I had to answer, "No idea." The rest of the world thinks we're insane.
I know a couple of gun nuts and they can't be reasoned with. It's alarming and infuriating the way they parrot NRA nonsense. I hope Biden and a Democratic Congress can get something done, but with a conservative Supreme Court, it doesn't look likely. Domestic abusers? Mentally ill? Threat to themselves or others? Anything? Please?

And that great governor (eye roll) of Texas Greg Abbott pushed through "everyone have a gun with no license, no training." Signed it just last week, in time for the weekend shootings.
Turns out the Austin shootings were 2 teenagers who were angry with one another. One was in school when he was arrested.
I am so very disgusted with what is going on in Texas and America regarding guns.

I wonder how much fear politicians have of being for gun control. I can't help but think it would make you feel vulnerable from attack by upset and angry gun owners trying to kill you. Seems like if we could address that it might help.
I would not run for office myself but if I felt drawn to I would fear for my safety and my family's safety. Whereas the more of a gun nut you are the less likely you are to face home invasion by armed "anti violence" activists is what it seems to me.

Sadly not enough people care about the collateral damage from shootings to make any real changes. As long as it’s not happening to them it’s oh well.

There isn't a single adult I know who isn't saddened and disgusted by the gun violence, yet enough elected officials are opposed to doing anything about it so that nothing changes. Things will only change if we’re all willing to vote for elected officials willing to make changes. Too many people prioritize other things. I agree with this but I also think things will never change until we get the money out of politics. Groups like the NRA shouldn't be allowed to give money to politicians to sway their votes one way-politicians are supposed to be voting to represent their citizens-but they don't. They vote depending on who pays the highest bribes. I'm not saying all of them do-but I believe many do, and it's completely unethical not to mention the complete opposite way the country is supposed to make laws. I'm sorry-I'm having trouble coming up with what I want to say-the correct words-I had a migraine the last two days, but not today and it's on recovery day that my brain doesn't work 100%. The words don't come out like I want them to. We have got to get the greed (money) out of our political system. Our elected officials should vote (and make laws) depending on what platforms they ran on and what their constituents (is that the right word?) want. The gun manufactures just want to sell more guns. Again greed. I read a statistic that said that 90% of adults in the USA want stricter gun laws. 90%! I can't remember where I read that-I wish I could. So the American people want this but of course with the NRA and the gun manufactures bribing the politicians to vote one way (against stricter gun laws) we'll never get any better in this country. One thing that would help would be to overturn the decision made by the Supreme Court in 2010 regarding Citizens United. That would at least be a beginning.
