Ladurée Paris has locations in the US and they ship within the Continental US! As long as your sister doesn't live in Hawaii or Alaska you should be good. Laduree Paris - US Shipping

Go to goldbelly.com and look there. They have foods from all over that ship out directly from each place.

I agree with checking goldbelly in case there is someone local you can go to.

My stepfather orders them from somewhere, so I’ll see if I can find out where.

I will be watching this thread as my niece’s 11th birthday is coming up and she has “always” wanted to try a macaron. 😀. I see that Costco has a box of them and wondered how good they were? Has anyone tried them?
I have been trying to find a place locally (Burlington area of Vermont) that has them but am willing to have some shipped. Gesine Bullock Prado always shows beautiful pictures of ones she makes on her Instagram and she use to sell them in the bakery that she had. I’ve wanted to try hers every since but as that is not possible I am looking for other options if anyone has suggestions. 😀

Depends on the Baker, the flavor, and filling. Macarons are an egg white cookie. They are partly crunchy and chewy at the same time. If the batter is not flavored, then the cookies taste like egg white meringue. Obviously if they flavor their batter then they taste like whatever flavor they are. The fillings range from butter creams, ganache, jams, fruit purée, peanut butter and marshmallow. Depending on the fillings, these cookies are/can be naturally gluten free. They’re usually 1-1/2” up to 3” in diameter (2-3 bite cookies). Most need to be refrigerated and they do freeze great. I buy a dozen every 2 weeks because it’s one cookie that I can actually eat! Lol

I must be the odd one. I thought they were just okay. No, you aren't the only one. I've eaten many of the best brands in Paris while living there so it hasn't anything to do with not having a good one. I don't dislike them, they are just meh to me. Some flavors are better than others, but even those don't make my heart sing!

I’m not a huge meringue fan, so I just don’t like them much. The fillings are better than the cookie/meringue part, but I can happily live without them. And, let me add that one of my pet peeves is when people call them macaroons - which is a whole very different type of cookie (that I like). The pronunciation is like the store someone linked above : ma-ka-ROHN

I took a macaron baking class a few years ago. Sadly, I don't deliver. What a thoughtful gift for your sister. Yummy.
