What an awful tale. I'm so sorry.

I am so sorry and always wonder what makes a child kill their mom when there was no abuse or neglect. I had a coworker and neighbor who would come to my office and complain about his wife who left him because he was broke. He had 4 children with her. She lived just around the corner from his home as well. The day after Christmas the kids were spending the day with him. He walked over to his ex wife's house, shot and killed her, then killed himself all at the front door. His hatred for his wife far exceeded his love for his children.

That's awful. The chap who cut our trees murdered his wife and then tried to jump under a train. He is now serving life. I had been working with him and his mate in our garden only a few months before. He always seemed one of the most laid-back and calm people. It's a strange kind of shock when someone you know commits a crime, isn't it? You feel almost guilty for not recognising the signs.

I can't help but think about them all the time. Are they staying in the family home? That is where the mom was shot. How are they even getting out of bed in the morning? Can you still love your son no matter what they have done? I wish there was something I could do to help them, all I know to do is to pray.

I'm just posting this as sort of answer to your question about the father. A similiar story happened not far from me a few years back. The last I heard, the dad and the daughter were still living in the home but it has been a couple of years since I have heard anything so not sure if they are still there. The father in the case I mentioned seems to be a pretty strong man, from what I read and heard from people who know him. From the article: "The first thing I want to do is hug him. I want to hug him and tell him that I do love him, and just to have courage, to have faith that he can get through this," Jacques Gobin said. "As much as I'm going through hell, he's also going through hell, and I have to be a father to him that way and support him as he goes through these steps."

Living with the fear of a family member with untreated addiction and mental health issues, I find this type of story hits too close to home. I'm so sorry for the loss of your neighbors. My prayers are with the surviving family.

How sad. That must have been such a shock to read a story like that about people you know. How does the rest of the family even begin to heal.
