I’ve recently been watching some YouTube videos about making page kits. It’s something I’ve thought about doing over the years, but I never have. If I am working on a vacation album, I will pull out a set of supplies, but not for pages in my regular album.
Do you make page kits? Do you think they save you time? Make you more creative?

Only if I am going on a weekend away to craft with friends or to craft with friends at their house. Then I need to only pack what I think I will be using on a particular page (plus a few extras). If I am crafting at home I do not.

I am the same as misse336 , I make them for weekend retreats and will finish up unused ones when I get home. I feel like it's a push on time spent making a page but I do love having them at crops. I can basically sit down and get to work without sorting through all my things and I usually include a sketch of some sort which helps even more. It's also a different way to create when you don't have time to make a layout or when I don't feel like making a mess.

I have never made any page kits. However, several of my scrappy friends do, especially ahead of retreats. I just shop from my stash... and often buy new items from the retreat / crop vendor. I love to use what I have in a random fashion.

I do page kits all the time. I kit everything. And when I am ready to scrap, I just page through them and select one.

I always make page kits for retreats. It forces me to focus when I arrive rather than cull through my stuff and I have to work with what I brought so I use up more supplies. I find I'm super productive with that approach. When I'm home, I just pull from my stash as I work on a layout.

I keep lines together in their own 2 gallon bag for the most part. I also buy kits from Not Just for Boys and Hipkit. I have some left over from the old kit clubs that no longer do 12x12 paper.
But I don't usually mix brands in kits myself. I keep all of my alphabets, enamel dots, cardstock, wood pieces, metal pieces, etc. separate.
Usually when I'm making a page with one line and I feel like it needs something else I can usually remember where the other paper, sticker, etc. is. My brain is full of scrapbook inventory.
There is an exception when I go to crops, though. Sometimes I put a few kits together for that but it isn't often.

As above if I’m going somewhere then yes I make up kits ahead of time.
But I also make up kits when I do a super themed page and I have specific papers, memorabilia or embellishments but then it’s a big kit fir more than just a page. ( for example I did a kit for our Hershey park trip )
I used to make page kits when I did not have a dedicated scrap area I’d get all the stuff out and make several kits then take the kits out one by one when I snagged some scrapping time. But now that I have a dedicated scrapping area I do much less of that.

I made page kits for older photos that I wanted to scrap, I'm not a chronological scrapper so it made it easy to have these on hand. So easy in fact, that I've decided to change up the way I do things and go back through my older pictures and print the ones I want to scrap then make a page kit (paper + photos only, I don't want other supplies in with these) so they're easy to grab and scrap.

If I have a large photo order, I'll go through my papers and pull backgrounds, accents, and mats for each page. But my "kits" are rarely more than that. Just the paper.
Occasionally, if there's a specific sticker set or ephemera pack I want to use, I might throw it in. Sometimes I just write a note directing me to specific supplies.
I like being able to grab my kits to take to crops. I like to start my pages there and finish them at home. That way I don't have to bring everything with me.

Sort of.
If I just got a photo order I'll go through and match papers to photos, and might throw in a sticker or stamp set or something.
Then I'll forget I put something in a kit and search my entire stash looking for it... or I have all this stuff gathered...might as well scrap the page right away.
I'm weird...

I tried to for crops but it never worked out. I would just bring a bunch of papers and see where I went with the layout.
I guess that is why it doesnt work for me. I change my mind sometimes with my paper choices or embellishment choices.

I’ve never made page kits but I’m starting to like the idea. Usually I look at my pictures and look through my stash for what will work with them. But I can see how a kit could be inspiring. Maybe I’ll try it.

Yes, I make page kits down to the title and stickers, ephemera that I might use, and most times photos. I do it on those days I don't feel very scrapping but still wanna play with paper. Then when I have a minute or 400 I can just pull out a kit and start working.
And of course I do it for crops, and even retreats! I just couldn't take hauling all my stuff with me anymore so I did page kits.
I love watching nicolejoles911 on YouTube do her page kits, she's awesome!
I also subscribe to RTS and Janet is a prolific kit maker. The other day she said it's okay if you make kits and then don't use them, your still going thru your stuff and knowing what you have. That in itself may inspire you. Ok, maybe those weren't her exact words, but that was the jist of it! And for me, she's so right!! It's still time well spent getting my mind of things and onto my favorite escape, pretty paper and stuff. Works great for those periods of time when your mojo is nowhere to be found.

For big projects like trips I will usually just pull all of my relevant stash together and work from that, picking and choosing which lines work best for each layout. So it's not really a kit, but also not just a free for all in my stash. When I go out and crop, I usually do so at my LSS, so I will bring the lines that I think I want to use with the pictures I am scrapping (usually bringing way too much stuff) and then will either use what I brought or buy something new and pretty. Try and guess which option usually wins out there Lately though, I have been trying to be much better about how much paper I buy. Awhile back I was watching a ton of RTS videos and Janet inspired me to organize some of my supplies by colour, so I have taken a bunch of odds and ends of paper and sorted them in a rainbow. Now, instead of just blindly buying a collection, I try to only buy my favourite pieces of paper, the embellishments that I like and then just supplement the "collection kit" with more basic b-side papers from my stash. I will never be organized enough to be one of those scrappers who has a kit for every photo with exactly the papers and embellishments I want to use. I just don't think it fits my process, but I do love adding old stash to my recent purchases. It's a fun creative exercise and it gives me a chance to pet all of my lovely supplies and come up with some fun combos.

If I am crafting at home I do not. This is what I do. I am going to a 5-day retreat at the end of July and am planning my kits & sketches now. Although I still take a lot of stuff with me (because I like options...LOL), I feel like this helps me somewhat be more focused when I am there. I don't use kits at home for the most part. I like watching people make kits on YouTube although I think it would be difficult for me to make a kit before I know what photos I want to use like some do.

I've never done it, but I love the idea of it. I'm a Hip Kit Club subscriber and really enjoy using kits, but I realize they often are only a mix of 1-3 lines, so not incredibly diverse in their offerings.
My scrapbook stash paper and embellishments are sorted by ROYGBIV, so I think it would be easy to put a kit together based on a color palette. I would like to try this some day!

No. Since I exclusively scrap at home in my dedicated craft room (& have never scrapped elsewhere - crop, retreat, convention, friend's house, etc.), I have no need to create page kits. Also, the thought of committing to use certain supplies & have unused items left over from kits doesn't appeal to my indecisive, super-organized, put-away-as-I-go personality.

I don't make the big kits many make on YT. I pick the pictures and write down the ones I want to use on a layout. Then I create a sketch or find one and go back and order pictures in the sizes I need for that sketch. Then I pick the card stock and patterned paper, embellishments, and titles. If I am scrapping at home, that is good enough to start. If I am taking my kits to scrap, I'll add more.

I've just started doing page kits for crops and retreats. It does keep me focused and I am more productive. Also got tired of overpacking and having to make 2 to 3 trips to the car.
I don't pack a lot of embellishments, just the basics. I figure when I get home and unpack them to put in my books...I can do the finishing touches.
A little nervous, I just 'kitted' my kids' Australia trip, hundreds of photos, for a 3 day crop at the end of the month... and yes, what if I do 'change my mind' when I get there.
(guess I'll bring a set of stamps to make some cards)

I make page kits. I’m a tiny bit different. I tend to make one each season. I’m a in the moment scrapbooker so now I am scrapbooking this summers photos and occasionally I scrapbook a summer photo from years past.
So I make a page kit usually based on something new I have and then build around that. I will use it to make all of my pages for the 2-3 month period.

I'm fascinated by how many of my fellow crafters put page kits together. My brain must work differently or maybe my process is different...
I don't put page kits together, and here is why... The thing that takes me the longest is deciding what I want to use on a page. By the time I finish putting a page kit together, all I need to do is glue everything down. When I have already spent so much time putting the kit together, my brain says, "Just take 2 minutes and glue it down and be done with it."
ETA It would drive me crazy to look for something in my stash and either accidentally re-purchase it or not be able to find it because I put it in a page kit.

Ryann Shimelle has a really cool series on YouTube called "Best of Both Worlds". She provides a link to the specific products she will be scrapping with each month in her videos, but when she reveals the kit, she walks you through WHY she chose those specific things (like a paper with circles on it or a certain color palette) if you want to pull similar items from your own stash, rather than buying anything. It's really interesting to see why she selects certain items.

no, not really. Sometimes for trip albums, I kind of do...I'll pull out any papers and embellishments I think will work with the photos in general but I'll still pull stuff from my general stash as I make pages.
When I did the Hawaii album recently - I had bought a collection kit and some papers and stickers with it in mind. I put those all together and pulled a couple of tropical PPs from my stash. And my in-progress Disney album has a 'kit' of Disney papers and embellishments I bought back in 2009 when we went to Disney...and I'm wanting to use those up as much as possible on the album.
But for day to day scrapping? No, not really. I might pop a specific embellishment or paper in with photos in a page protector if I bought it specifically for those photos but generally I just dig in my stash. It's pretty well organised and everything is within reach when I'm sitting at the scrapbook desk.
Now years ago when I would go to crops at the LSS? I would pull papers and embellishments and make page kits to complete at the crop. And before that? I would take my photos to the store and pick out the papers/stickers for them and bring them home to scrap...I didn't really have a stash early on.
But my brain doesn't work well with pulling together random items into a kit and then making them work with photos.

I don't do page kits, and I'm not sure I would actually enjoy having such a limited group of supplies to work with. As others have said, if I've gone to the trouble of pulling out all the things I will use on a single page, I might as well just glue all the things together and finish it.
I have made smaller kits, like a dozen patterned papers and a handful of embellishments, which I'll then use to scrap whatever photos I feel work with it, but I prefer to pull from my whole stash for every page.

ETA It would drive me crazy to look for something in my stash and either accidentally re-purchase it or not be able to find it because I put it in a page kit. I think that part of this might stem from the size of your stash. My stash is very small. When something new comes in the door, I immediately kit it in a plastic bag. When I get some photos, it takes me no time at all to look through my kits and pull one to scrap my pictures with. I cannot imagine having the size stashes that some have and then having to look through everything to find what I'm looking for to scrap with. That feels very overwhelming to me. As a small stash scrapper, I think, too, that I'm OK with working with just what's in my kit bag and not having to have all the things. I think that might just be a difference in sheer size of a stash to begin with, if that makes sense. And I also admit that I rarely just buy things. When I purchase something, it is usually with some kind of project in mind. I can only think of two Vicki Boutin lines (it helps that I also don't really know lines) that I purchased just because I like it with no purpose in mind. Anyway, I hope that makes sense and gives you a bit of insight into how and why I kit everything.

I've tried and tried and my brain does not work that way. I must have photos first. I also don't have a ton of embellishments and I'm a very slow scraper. So that washi I may love and can be used on multiple pages, is in a page kit somewhere, but what one?😆 Maybe if I went to a crop, I would, but photos would have to be included.
