Happy July schroema, angel97701, natscraps, grammadee, jeremysgirl, joblackford, kellyr21, azcrafty, @zingermack! Welcome to this months challenges and may the odds be ever in your favor lol. After a couple of very very low/no mojo months I hope to be productive and around here more often for July. We'll see if my job cooperates with my intentions lol. After reading the page kits thread I'll be making up some kits for the month. My stash is overflowing and possibly part of the lack of mojo. I hope working with smaller bites of it will get the creativity flowing again. Plus I've seen some awesome challenges I want to try this month as well! No big plans here for the long weekend, I'm going to be laying low and tending to things here and just relaxing. I'll be scrapping online with my mom and niece who are the only IRL scrappers I know lol. Does anyone have scrappy plans for the weekend, or will you be busy making memories to scrap at a later date? I hope you have a fun, creative month!

Hi, thanks for the welcome to July. A brand new crochet pattern just dropped so I plan to spend my weekend working on that. I will scrapbook next weekend I think. I really hope your mojo comes back joyfulnana! I'd like to see how your page kit experiment works for you. it works amazing for me. Have a good weekend, guys!

Happy July, Joyfuls! Hoping this will be a great month for everyone, making or preserving memories. We have an informal outdoor birthday party at our nephew’s today, and tomorrow we are meeting our dd & family out at the lake for their anniversary. Have some photos printed from my visit with ds & family last weekend. Hoping to scrap some of those this. Upcoming week. I don’t have much luck with DIY kits, but might be scrapping a few hours away from home on Wednesday while my vehicle is being serviced. Will have to take a peak at that thread, joyfulnana . A heads up: Please pop some challenges into the July list. I am planning to close it off this evening, but it is looking pretty spare right now.

I've been thinking about what challenges I need to get me going this month. I'll take a closer look at what we have and see what I can add.

Here's a link to that thread if anyone is interested - it really inspired me to take on my stash in smaller bites. It may well have been what fanned the sparks of mojo for me.

Hello team. We have a waterfront gathering tomorrow with some relatives and friends. Hopefully FIL's neighbors will hire a professional pyro team like usual - I prefer watching *other people* blow up thousands of dollars. Already sick of the people blowing up mortars in the middle of the day, and the fire danger this year... ugh.
I just added a challenge to watch process/class videos because I'm working my way through the card maker summit videos. I paid for early access so I want to make sure I watch them and use the ideas. I just added an extra part to the challenge to encourage us to make something as well... I don't want all my points to be for YT binges. lol.
I've been puttering a lot lately. I'd like to find some focus. I got a new-to-me rolling stool for my desk that's much more ergonomic than my old chair so I'm hoping that helps a little bit. Being in pain doesn't help when you're distractible and unmotivated.

Well the good news is . . . the garden is mostly in, just wish what ever is eating my green bean sprouts would stop! The heat has also caused my corn to really grow, but the tomatoes aren't flowering much . . . hum?
Scrapping, card making, craft organizing, yes these are all on my list. Maybe a little more time sorting the shoes, including DH's! He has about 15 pairs of New Balance, all of various ages and stages of wear. He needs to throw a few away! They are his every day shoe, and when ever I find 8EEEE I buy them on sale so it's partially my fault.
May the odds be in my favor for sure! Depends on DS15's attitude and mood. Hopefully we will have more hours with the Direct Support Professional, and maybe I can craft or go stand up paddle boarding!
Tomorrow I'm smoking ribs, and making a broccoli salad, MIL is bringing the rest. We've been told to have a moratorium on home fireworks until July 9th. We've been having record highs, most of last week in the high 100's, now a few days just below 100. Nights at 60. We usually have nights that go to at least 50 so we can cool our homes over night. SOOOOOOOOO VERY THANKFUL for the installed and functioning AC. We try not to use it, except when we have fires nearby and smokey nights.

I thought about you both and that heat wave angel97701 and joblackford. Broccoli salad sounds sooo yummy! joblackford I love the challenge to watch videos and make something - that will play well with my challenge to use the classes we buy. Making time for videos is something that never happens here and I really want to do these classes I've paid for. And I'm with you on watching someone else's money being blown up! lol. Today my goal is to batch plan some page kits for the month. Hopefully that will light a fire and I will actually make pages this month lol. That, along with laundry. Tomorrow will be focusing on cleaning up my WFH office. It's become a dumping ground and driving me crazy.

I'd like to find some focus. If you find some, and there is enough to share, may I please borrow some? Not used to this going places, seeing people. It is interfering with my scrapping time! Sorry to hear that you are in pain. Hoping your new chair helps. Good to hear your garden is producing, angel97701 . Ours has been struggling. Unfortunately, the weeds are thriving. After dh has been agressively watering the last few days I was able to get out there and pull a bunch out. The pile of weeds I raked up afterward looked like a swath ready for baling! Some plants are behind and looking sad. Others are ahead of schedule. I actually picked some lettuce and cherry tomatoes from our garden this morning, along with the radishes and onions I have been using for awhile, so that felt good. Have been doing a little kitting. Need to look at your challenge, joyfulnana . Have two sets of photos, each in its own bag, and am adding papers and supplies to scrap them. I really like having printed photos to work with. Have been having trouble printing from my phone at WalMart, but when I went to Calgary, I took my camera, snapped lots of pic's and printed them on the way home. Took it with me to the lake yesterday, too, so now I will have more photos ready to play with after Wednesday when I am at WalMart again.

joyfulnana I'm glad your mojo is starting to come back! joblackford I've been doing my fair share of YT watching. I need to clean off my desk and put all the scraps and leftover bits away. I'm hoping a clean slate helps translate watching into doing. angel97701 Glad you got your garden in! grammadee Ive gotten behind on printing photos again. I need to work on that. My DH and DS are at camp this week so it should be a productive scrap week for me. I'm hoping to hit up a few scrap stores later in the week. THere's an Ohio Paper Craft Shop Hop going on July1-Aug 15; I'm hoping to hit all 10 stores but we'll see how that goes.

grammadee 😂 I put a stack of LO in albums last night. I am out of 12x12 page protectors! And my kids’ albums are full. Ugh I was looking forward to spending $$ on fun supplies, not albums and page protectors.

I WISH I had 10 LSS near me! There is one here pretty locally but she is geared more to Kiwi Lane kits and card making so I don't visit often. She is also practically next door to a TM which is Another reason I don't visit often lol. I haven't been to TM since the stores opened back up. I've read the TM thread and it sounds like the days of great finds and deals may be gone. Which is good for my wallet and for my space. I'm out of room! That's the sad thing - no mojo means no scrapping, but it doesn't mean I don't shop!

Well, the 10 shops are spread throughout the state - 3 are around 3 hrs drive away, 4 are 1-2 hrs away and 3 are about a half hr drive away. All in different directions. Lol. I try to put mine away every month after I tally my challenge points.

My scrapbooks are chronological, but I often don't scrap that way. I scrap what I fancy . . . so I have layouts that range from 2011 to now done, and in iris boxes waiting to be put in chronological order. But I do have the events written in a notebook so I don't scrap the same event more than once. I have the finishing touches to put on DS22's wrestling album, and few more from our engagement that I just decided needed to be scrapped, as the photos were already printed. But I've been working on the same layout for two weeks. On Saturday during the virtual crop I did JUST the title, but it was 7 words, and layered. Now the journaling and it will be done.
DH is traveling, so I'm on 24-7 for DS15. We have his Direct Support Professional coming tomorrow for 8 hours, so I will have some free time to get a few things done hopefully. Need to go check on him now.

angel97701 i don’t scrap chronologically either but it does go in albums chronologically. I do print or try to print photos by month. Most of what I have printed is from 2018 and 2020 so that’s what I’ve been working on. I ended up not getting as much scrapping done this week as I hoped, too many random errands kept popping up. 🙄 I did do a vinyl project I’ve been putting off and also a “varsity jacket” canvas project for my DD. Yesterday we hit up 4 scrapbook stores. I was tired from the week and not feeling it but my dd encouraged me to go and I’m glad I did. I found some of my “maintenance” items. Lol that’s what my dd called adhesive, trimmer blades and page protectors. So it was nice to get a 10% discount on that. I also found Boy Scout supples which I’ve been looking for for a while. One of the stores was jam packed with OLD supplies. Some of the stuff I got has copyright 2008-2011!

I made it to Legacy Paper Arts last week as we travelled through from Cleveland to Indy but didn't have time for any of the Dayton area ones. Unfortunately they are all closed on Mondays when we came back through. My "local" store is Embellished Scrapbook Boutique but it's at least an hour drive if I don't hit any traffic.

Happy new week, Joyfuls! Loving your shopping stories, schroema. I did some shopping last Wednesday while I was in town to get my vehicle serviced. I tend to spend when I get a chance to get in there. And my vehicle is schedualed for an all day appointment on Thursday this week, so I plan to spend the time at the LSS at one of their crop tables. Will take the kits I put together and some extra photos. Will run a tab for anything I use from the store that day. Probably a good thing the LSS is over an hour from me or I would be a homeless lady with bags of scrap crap piled around me in the alley. Played with the new Mason Jar kit from ECD this weekend. Finished a few pages for the mini book and started a couple more. Made a bd card using the dies. And managed to finish a couple of 12 x12 double pagers. Need to start adding up my points soon before I get behind. Haven't heard from you in awhile, angel97701. Missed you on the virtual crops this past weekend, too. Hope you are okay.

Hello all! Still very little crafting, only updating my blog for my Retro Rubber DT. With DS being a 24-7 supervision, I've had little time to myself. School is out, and we are not getting our DSP hours regularly. We did get 8 hours on Saturday, and we went to an actual birthday party! It was outdoors with kickball, 3 legged race, food, live music, and just a general great time actually socializing with people without masks. With our heat wave watering and keeping up with the garden is a hour or so chore every day. I'm putting in soaker hoses in my landscaped flower beds, so they will be watered with a timer. Still planting green beans as maybe earwigs have been eating this year? The heat doesn't help for some reason, other than the corn! We are going on an actual vacation! Headed to EAA Airventure in Oshkosh, WI 7/25-8/1. We will take a few side trips on the way to and from so may be gone up to 18-19 days. We drive and camp with over 50K of our "best airplane friends". So I am prepping for that as well. On the frustrating sad note, a Job Corps counselor drove 4 hours one way to try and help my DS22 who lives in a homeless shelter and is a drug addict. He basically refused her help. It really is up to him, we've done all we can, she went way out of her way to drive 8 hours and spend the night. It is out of our hands, So paper crafting and time in my room is very limited. Thanks for check grammadee .

Ahh, angel97701 that must be very frustrating and upsetting for you... and it sounds like you have more than enough on your hands just with the garden. Glad you get to take a vacation, hope that's lots of fun.

Oh angel97701 I'm so sorry to hear that. It's so HARD to let them do what they will do. I hope he comes back to you soon. Big hugs friend. schroema your LSS hop sounds so fun! I'm sure I have paper from 2011-2018. In fact I know I have a Tim Holtz paper pad from 2011. I've never used a single sheet. I have sooo much from FOMO buying in the past. I want to purge, and yet I don't. Cause "I might use that" lol. grammadee I think that's where I'm struggling too - I'm not used to being out and seeing people so often! It's definitely messed with my mojo and scrapping time! I have page kits made to last me through August (or longer ) . But that will keep me busy and then other kit planning can go toward getting ready for We Create. Putting those kits together has me really excited for one of the layouts I have planned so hopefully I'll get going on that tonight after work.

(((((HUGS))))) angel97701. I hope you can relax--or invigorate, whichever you prefer--during your vacation. Our garden is a washout--or whatever is the OPPOSITE of a washout. A dryout? We have been watering, but it is so dry that the surrounding soil seems to just soak up the moisture and leave our plants panting and sniveling. I swear we need to just start eating thistles and dandelions for greens and tiny bugs for protein. Those life forms don't need me to baby them, apparently. Although the bugs would miss my luscious veggies to chew on, I guess... Need to go out and pull weeds again this morning. Busy few days ahead. Today I am baking a birthday cake and wrapping her gift from her dh which he had shipped here. Tomorrow I am getting a meal ready to take out to the lake for dd's birthday. It will include potatoes with onions and green salad from our garden. Sometime in there I need to figure out how to pack up my kits and pic's and basic tools to take to the LSS on Thursday so I can scrap while my car is being repaired (recall replacement of some brake modules). Really hoping my mojo will show up then. When I have no time to scrap, my mind is FULL of ideas. When the time and opportunity are there, not so much... Hoping your mojo returns to you, joyfulnana, and that you have fun playing with your kit(s) this evening. I want to remember to snap pic's of my kits while in the LSS on Thursday, before I start cutting and gluing. I don't think you asked for that in your challenge, but it helps ME remember which pages I can claim the kit points on. Okay. Time to stop whining and head out to that wasteland...

My garden is actually loving this summer, even though I never set up the drip irrigation. The basil has never looked so good. I'm not growing much food this year though - berries, green/walking onions, and a few tomatoes. The dahlias and the lavender are mostly thriving.
We have a furry visitor for the rest of the month, a Brittany spaniel named Luna. Everyone her family knows is on vacation this month. We haven't had a dog since our pugs died so this is a nice trial to see if we might want one again in the future, and Luna is a sweetie.
I spent the last couple of afternoons building kits for a foster kid craft drive. I've gone through my stash a couple of times and found more and more to share each time. Hopefully kids will enjoy scraps and random die cuts and ribbon and the like. I'm thinking that the washi tape will go down well and some glitter glue will finish the kits off perfectly - that's the only thing I need to actually buy. Quite excited to pass on some older things to make space for new things (or maybe just to have a bit more space).

Hey, you guys! I actually did an entire travelers notebook this week from our camping trip last fall. Can someone give me an idea of how to count points for it? Each double page spread could count as a layout, or each side/page, depending on how you approached it/how detailed/hard it felt to make. If I just stick a photo on one side and a title and a few stickers on the other I would take that as one layout, but if it's lots of detailed work on both I might count each side as a small layout. Easy peasy would give you 15 points per spread, if I remember correctly - assuming it's a standard TN size. There may be other points you can stack on top of that. The other way I sometimes count stuff like that, esp if I'm not sharing the pages and it was quick design work but lots of pages, is to count it as hours of 'other crafts' - I do that with digital books that I'm basically just pulling photos into. 10 points per hour. In theory that should yield a similar number of points to counting the other way, but not always. Classic counting you would look at each page against the list of challenges and add up how many individual points you scored on each page, one by one

That seems easiest and probably fairest. I worked about 7 hours on it.
