I am in a studio apt.
When I downsized, I got rid of stuff I HAD TO HAVE because it was cute. But, the truth is I rarely or never used it on a scrapbook page >> bottles and bottles and bottles of prima flowers, rolls of ribbon, the $1.00 mini stamps from Michaels(studio g??, I think), etc...
I got rid of stuff I used when I started scrapbooking (1996), and haven't used since that first year or so >> deco scissors, miss grossman stickers, hot off the press booklets full of scenic papers--cut out tags--punch out die cuts, etc....
I switched to rolling carts, that can be pushed out of the way, pushed into a corner, put into the closet, etc.... then pulled out when I am actively scrapbooking.
I am fortunate, in addition to my walk in clothes closet, I also have three general storage closets.

I did, thank you! Before I saw that, I did drop a big box off at our local nature center. They do summer camps for kids and I was talking to someone who works there last week and they said they are always looking for craft donations, so yay!!! They got a ton of paper and stickers and die cuts, and then I gave a bunch of other stuff to a friend who recently got into card making and is willing to attempt the shaker cards. I told her no backsies!! If she hates the shaker cards too, she has to pass that stuff on or donate it, lol! My 2nd go around will be looking at the other donation thread. I will add that this feels really good...it can add a lot of stress to have all this stuff around that you don't use, cluttering up the space. Don't get me wrong, I still want lots of stuff to use and I am very glad that I have lots of product and choices, but this is stuff I got for ( ?) whatever reason and it is never getting used-and what is the point of forcing yourself to use something? That's just not fun!

kmage I hope you'll keep us in the loop and let us know how the move is going. I'd love to hear about your thoughts and decisions in real time(-ish) if you have the time and mind space to share (if not, that's totally ok). Best of luck!

I have a nook, at the top of the stairs. Been that way since 2005. Before that it was a card table.
I don't have a closet. I don't have a door. So I have to be mindful of what I bring in to my space.
I do have 3 wall shelves. Top holds my cameras. Middle my Peanuts Funko Pops, washi tape holder, and container of letter stickers.
I have a main table with 2 connecting drawer units. Right side has 4 small square drawers and 2 larger drawers. Left side has 1 open cube space where I have 4 Iris containers for paper, and 2 large pull out drawers.
If my Iris containers are full, I use up what I have first.
I have one for dd, one for ds, one for fall/Halloween, and one for Christmas. I side are the photo containers for embellishments.
Behind that desk in my office desk with all in one, photo printer, and main printer/scanner. As of now no scrapbook items are kept in that. It is used for medical paper work.
I have a smaller cube system next to my craft desk/cubes for my scrapbooks.
My advice having always had a small space, purge and keep what you will use. Use your space wisely. Dont bring in what you can't house.

kmage I hope you'll keep us in the loop and let us know how the move is going. I'd love to hear about your thoughts and decisions in real time(-ish) if you have the time and mind space to share (if not, that's totally ok). Best of luck! I will try! Over the 4th of July weekend (I had Monday the 5th off) I did what I considered the "easy" part. I pared off anything that I was "ehhhhh" about, and some furniture that never really worked for me. This meant filling a box with paper and other things that I picked up because they were cheap (looking at you, K and Company clearance sale) that I was trying to force myself to use, and also weeding out card making supplies, (love the look of shaker cards, but hate making them, too fussy) to give to a friend that seems to like spending 4 hrs on a card. It was a small start, but going from 12 stacking cubes to 8 was helpful, as well as just giving away an entire box of stuff. That happened over the weekend, and then on the 5th, DS and DH moved the furniture I pretty much knew I was keeping. They moved it empty. For frame of reference, old room was 15x12 with a closet. New room is 9x9, very tiny closet. What I am really struggling right now is with storing things like empty albums, photos ready to scrap, completed pages not yet in albums, cardmaking supplies like envelopes/card bases, etc...these take up valuable space but aren't my beloved supplies...lol.

So envious... I second the wow! We have zero general storage closets in my house. Each bedroom has a small closet, and then there is a small space in the bathroom for towels and linens, and the kitchen has cabinets, but other than that nada. Zip. We made an entryway "storage" with a storage bench and wall hooks for coats, etc. So yeah, no where to hide stuff lol.

I recently went to having an entire loft to about 1/3 the space. It has been a bit of a struggle. I have purged so much, I've gotten to about as low as I can go.
My best advice, is find a storage system that works for you. I need to keep things in front of my face, so I don't forget to use them. So everything is either in open containers, wire baskets or Iris boxes. That's what works for me.
