Happy new week. Today I'm gonna run to the mall for a quick trip to one store w/ds. Other than that it'll be light chores and rest. Dinner is pork loin and rice with a veggie.
What's on your menu?
I just finished reading yesterday's thread. It was fun to read about your collections.
@sunnycamom , have you been to the Charles Shulz museum? It's really fun and of course, there's a big Peanuts store.
jeremysgirl , you nailed it. Humor, wearing bright colors and fun watches is a coping mechanism. So, I choose to have fun where I can get it, because I don't get it very often. Illness isn't a choice, but the way we react to it is a choice. You only get one life. There is no do-over.
Plurker, I love your hoodies. I would totally wear 'em.
So, let's continue the fun. Who else would like to share their fun collection? Now that we're having this discussion I think I'll try to find the Where's Waldo Vans that I didn't buy a couple months ago.
Enjoy your week, my lovely tribe. Make the most of each day and choose to be kind to yourselves.

You said it better than me scrapmaven and I agree with you 100%. It's amazing what happens in your life when you focus on gratitude for little pleasures. Being playful in life is uplifting. Laughing each day (I'm lucky to have a partner as goofy as me) us important. Tonight I think I'm going to focus my efforts on making a banana cake. So I think I will have Jeremy grill some sausages and throw together a bagged Caesar salad. I have been reading so much about that 100 day dress challenge. In the Facebook group mostly. I'm starting to feel like maybe I don't need quite as much stuff as I've got. Maybe my world is a bunch too cluttered. Maybe a cluttered life/home makes for a cluttered mind. In that spirit I've decided to start with my craft room decluttering. **GypsyGirl** I might join your thread finally. I'm conscious of the way we may be a bit wasteful with our fashions. And the environmental and economic costs of doing so. I ordered one of those dresses and I may just try the challenge. For the sake of simplicity.

jeremysgirl , I think one way that we really connect is that we both focus on the good stuff. We don't dwell on our illness. We dwell on making life a good one. That's what I admire most about you. You have a great philosophy about life no matter what is thrown at you. I preach it here, because it's essential in this world that we find those small ways of growing and finding our bliss.

I was up early again today, despite having no real plans. I went out for my walk, and just after I got home, I received a phone call from the clinic where I was trying to get an endoscopy appointment. We have it all sorted now - it’s a bit later than it could have been, as we are on vacation when the first available appointment was. I’ll get info in the mail later this week, have a video appointment on the Tuesday after we get back and then the procedure on the Wednesday. I’m just glad to finally have it scheduled.
Dinner here tonight I’d chicken marinated in bbq sauce, with coleslaw.

One thing to keep in mind with fashion/wardrobes; the average person wears 20% of their wardrobe 80% of the time. Keep only what you love and what looks good on your body, buy the best quality you can afford and you will be amazed at what you can do with what you have. Absolutely no clue as to dinner. Heading out to the grocery store & Costco soon. Perhaps divine inspiration will strike in one of those places! Have a good Monday everyone.

sueg , you can come w/me next Monday and we can have our endoscopies together. Though mine is going to entail a medical procedure and yours is diagnostic. We'll be recovery buddies. I don't remember if you've ever had one, but it's a very easy procedure. You'll be napping and won't feel a thing. It's a very fast wakeup and you'll be relaxed.
**GypsyGirl**, my mother was poor growing up, but her mother believed in buying one dress from a good department store rather than 3 at Sears. One good dress lasted a long time.

Oooh jeremysgirl a banana cake sounds so yummy. I have been craving nilla wafer banana pudding lately. scrapmaven any place you can find some happy is a great thing. Your watch collection sounds so neat, share a pic some day if you can. I collect books and movies.. Books and movies have always been my safe haven, escape, or just a place to let my imagination run wild. Being an only child and one who was always a bit peculiar and out of place, books and movies were where I could find my people. I can't tell you how many times I rode the luck dragon Falkor with Bastian, or made it through the Labyrinth and defeated the Goblin King with Sarah as a kid. Oh and let's not forget the time I helped John McLain take down Hans and save the people in the Nakatomi Towers. Just sayin... Dinner tonight is a fave that I haven't made for a bit. Drip beef sandwiches on pretzel rolls with sharp white cheddar and au jous. Some elote corn and sweet potato fries on the side.

Your grandmother was a wise woman! The fashion industry and fast fashion have convinced our generation of consumers that 'more is better', but it isn't really. Compare the closets in homes mid-century to today's closets. When my dad saw the master closet in our first house his comment was "I found your 4th bedroom". Look at the closets of Europeans. Much smaller in general than the average American closet. Sorry, I could go on for days on this subject!

I have a busy day today ... I bought new cowboy boots yesterday but decided that I didn't really like them so I exchanged them for some different ones this morning ... my new ones are brown and pink! Pink is my fav colour I'm going to the Evening Show at the Calgary Stampede tonight with my dd's and dd#1's boyfriend ... I'll be sporting my new boots! We have "Clubhouse" seats which means indoor table seating so we'll be in air conditioning if it is hot and dry if it rains ... it's also a full restaurant so we'll be eating dinner there ... definitely worth the extra cost This afternoon I need to prepare my house for my mum and her cat to move in with me for the next week or so ... she is having knee surgery ... my old lady cats are not going to be happy having her young male cat here My biggest job is scrubbing my litter pans and refilling them ... gotta do three for three cats My mum and I get along really well but I don't know how this living with me thing is going to go Wish me luck!

PolarGreen12 , I was the bullied kid, by almost the entire school. So, books were my way of escaping, too. I would be hurt at school, but at night I would tour a magical chocolate factory. Books were always safe. I completely get it. **GypsyGirl** , we're a very materialistic society, myself included. I'd rather have an adventure than a new outfit.
leannec, I see lots of Scrabble and Netflix in your future. Make her recovery easy on you by pre-planning it.

Happy Monday Ladies!
I haven't read the weekend threads, I purposely kept myself off of the computer so that I could get something accomplished and it worked. :-) I'll have to catch up. with the collection chatter. I am not a collector, but do seem to acquire fabric and craft items. I've had a couple of deep dive purges over the years but it always seems to re-accumulate.
IT's funny the talk is about wardrobes and fast fashion. I spent a good part of yesterday listening to the Prime Show L.A. Frock Stars. It's an older show about a Vintage shop and it's owner in LA. I found it very very interesting. There are only 2 season I think, and I've never been into Vintage Clothing, but I found the show fascinating!
DH is still at the ranch, so dinner will be the last of the quiche that's left in the fridge with a small salad. I'm meeting a sewing friend at a Cajun place for lunch.
Wishing everyone a great day!!

Whew, just got back from running errands. I'm meeting up with 3 friends to play some Crazy Rummy before our official games start up again with my Newcomer's group. I used to collect elephants. My sister would buy me beautiful things: signed and numbered art, crystal elephants, beautiful jewelry but then people started giving me cheapy figurines. I know that sounds terrible but it ruined my collection. I still have the pieces my sister gave me though. Dinner will be air fried pork chops with the usual sides.

I'm still up in the air about dinner. We will have a green salad, though.

Some of my Peanuts collection. These ones came with items for Halloween - costumes and props. I set them out with items in the fall. And my Funko Pops. I hope they make Schroeder one day: I also forgot about my Disney Dept 56 items. Only 2 so far but would like to grow my collection - Pluto's Bone and Mickey, Minnie, and Santa decorating a tree.

scrapmaven no I haven't been to the Charles Shulz museum. Ds and I are going to go swimming in a bit then I am going to Albertson's as Stater Bros no longer carries Simply Heinz ketchup. It is corn and soy free. Regular 57 has corn. 👎🏻 Tonight I am using the left over chicken for salads. I also saved the juice from the IP and will freeze that today. I like to chill it first then freeze. Will use some for dh's rice and dd's cauliflower rice. Hoping to scrapbook today too. Also need to clean the downstairs bathroom.

Not sure for dinner yet. My sister and dad are coming out, I will see my sister tomorrow night and will have dinner with her. Then on Wednesday we will be with dad. They are all here until the next week, so lots of fun just hanging out. No real big plans other than daughter's 16th birthday on the 15th and her party with family on Saturday. I used to collect anything with grapes. I had everything. Since the divorce, I really don't collect anything...I love lots of stuff, but I don't specifically collect anything anymore. Anything purple! Love the boots leannec!!

Tacos tonight. Need something quick and simple because dh and I are going to a pickleball clinic tonight to learn to play. It’s all because of the thread here a couple weeks ago. There’s a group here in our new town and they have tournaments and stuff. Dh and I are both decent at sports and competitive so we think it sounds like a fun new thing to do!

leannec and @sunnycamom, love the picture shares today (and loved the pet pictures over the weekend!). It's fun reading about everyone's collections and I'm feeling like the most boring person ever when I say I don't collect anything. I'm a minimalist through and through; less is more for me! It's probably best that I'm that way because DH has great difficulty in parting with anything. Here in our home office there is a wooden castle DH made in 11th grade shop and a ceramic owl he painted at summer camp! It pains him to throw things out. I'm an avid reader, but I don't collect books. However I am compulsive about keeping a list of every book I read in a year. My lists go back for YEARS! That's an easy collection to maintain. I took a nice long walk this morning and then took the cat to the vet. She is ok, but as an older cat (12 years) she needed some blood work and other tests. Not even thinking about how much I've spent at the vet this summer. Dinner will be vegetable fried rice and a side TBD. I have lots of veggies that need to used up today and they'll all go in the rice.

I never have a ridiculous amount of clothing. But right now, I do need to purge my closet due to size differences. a banana cake sounds so yummy I'll just tell you a little secret. Tomorrow is that annual celebratory day where I am turning 46 years old. Banana cake is my favorite and I have to make my own, if I want. Since it's my day tomorrow, I'm making the cake today so I can eat it for breakfast! I bought new cowboy boots yesterday but decided that I didn't really like them so I exchanged them for some different ones this morning ... my new ones are brown and pink! These are gorgeous! I'm so glad you exchanged for them! This is them at Halloween: This is super cute!

Posting before I finish reading (gasp!) , will catch up later.
I grabbed a (perfectly good) foosball table from the neighbors before the large stuff garbage came at got it. I am driving it up to Madison. It's new home will be the Youth Services my eldest works for. Hopefully kids will have some fun with it.
So I'll probably grab something on road or with DNB depending if they can break for lunch. So, surprise, surprise, dinner is TBD.
Have a great day, peaps, and I will read and catch up later.
