So my husband and I are finally planning our DL trip this October and Boogie Bash tickets go on sale today. My total first world problem is which day do I try to get tickets for. We can go to the party in the middle of our trip or our last day. The party runs from 6-11 pm. Which would you chose and why? This is just a total fluff question to occupy my time while I wait for the virtual queue to open. Please, no Disney hate or “this is why I hate Disney, everything is just so damned complicated “ or “I can think of 12 million places I would rather go then Disneyland “ or “I would rather eat glass then sit in a virtual queue to get tickets for a party filled with grown ass adults dressed up like supposedly scary cartoon characters.” Please don’t yuck my yum. Thankyouverymuch.

Disney Halloween is my absolute favorite!
I would go in the middle of my trip, personally, because by the end I am usually too tired to fully enjoy an extra event.

I am excited, traditionally we do WDW Halloween and DL Christmas, this year and next we are flipping. I am so excited to see the DL Halloween since they have a Coco Day of the Dead celebration, Cars Land will be decorated and of course, the reason for the switch is the Boogie Bash. Hmm, I didn’t think of that, I will be fine the last day, but my husband might be done (he doesn’t have my Disney stamina), maybe middle of the trip would be best for him.

This sounds so fun! I would pick middle of the trip. I always like to leave my last day of a trip really flexible so I can do stuff we didn't get to earlier in the trip, rest if we need it, relax, pack, etc.

I won't rain on your parade - in fact, with yesterday's announcement of Disney's Very Merriest After Hours at Disney World in December, we're trying to figure out which day to go, too.
I would actually pick the last day of the trip, especially if you are rope-droppers. I would be too tired after a late night event mid-week to then fully enjoy the rest of the week. I would make the late night my last hurrah and then sleep on the way home. Granted, the Boogie Bash ends at 11 p.m.; the After Hours event is later, ending at 1 a.m., so it's not entirely an apples to apples comparison.

So many good observations, I am a morning till night person. My husband is a different story, he is more likely to meet me at the park at 10 am, that is a good point about the middle of the trip. He would be wiped out on Wednesday or have leave the party early. So much food for thought!

I suck up every spare minute, they have to sweep me out of the park each night and I am there first thing the next morning. My husband might like the day to relax though. 2 hours to go! Uggghhhhhh….

Whatever you choose will be totally AWESOME! We have been twice to “Mickey’s Halloween Treat” and both were so much fun! Do you know what you are going to wear yet? Is it at DL or CA?

I will wear one of my Jack Skellington shirts, we are not ones to dress up, as much as we love Halloween. If we were to dress up it would be as Sweeney Todd and Mrs. Lovett, but I don’t like people looking at me, so just normal clothes for us! I am so excited, in case you couldn’t tell! I have had to cancel two Disney trips so i will likely burst into tears when I finally see the Disney gates!

The sound of the music and seeing the gates or walking through one of the two tunnels always makes me a little emotional. Disneyland is a very special place. You are going to have the best time!

Just reading your posts and how excited you are makes me want to go. I haven't been to Disneyland as a guest in 25 years and I'm under 2 hours away. I did construction work there and worked on the Cars ride and the Winnie the Pooh ride. We dismantled the Country Bear Jamboree to build the Winnie the Pooh ride. We had to strip down the bears to their animatronic parts and the slightest movement would cause them to move. We could only work at night and they were massively freaking all of us out.
I have never been to California Adventure, but built in there too, to include the giant Sorcerer's hat.

No Disney hate here, its one of my favorite places to be! We are going to WDW in September and I was on hold for 3 hours to get tickets for the Boo Bash event that is replacing Mickey's Not So Scary Halloween Party this year. We are going on our first day because I know later on in the week I will be EXHAUSTED. If not then, I would say middle of the week because the events tend not to be as busy if you go on a Wednesday vs. a Friday or Saturday.

How many days are you going to be there? I would do middle or toward beginning of trip. 5 days. I am leaning towards the last day because the crowd calendar (which I know are not 100%, but still) are predicting the middle of the trip day to be a “ghost town”. I think my husband would have a better time at the parks on a ghost town day, so I kind of hate to have that be a day we are doing the party. The last day of the trip is a Thursday, so I know it won’t be as crowded as the weekend party will be.

My BFF was an AP holder in the mid 90’s when they had AP parties and we got to go to one where we got to go on stage of the CBJ and touch the bears and take their ears off so we could see how they changed clothes and parts. It was so stinking cool, I can’t imagine working on that stuff. That is so very cool!!! Did the bears spontaneously bust out into “Blood on the Saddle” when you were working on them? Did you pocket any parts? I am trying to groom my nephews to become imagineers. The oldest one is the biggest Disney fan but seems to think I am ridiculous. My younger nephew definitely has the creative and engineering brain to do it, just need his parents to expose him more to Disney parks.

I would do the least crowded day. I went to their Halloween bash a few years ago. It was fun. The crowds/line were not bad too. And yes, we got candy too! lol!

If they had burst into song we probably all would have run! 😂 Even stripped down they were really big and there were so so many moving parts. Just walking past them would cause them to move all about and make a jangly noise. After a couple of nights we asked them to move them because it was making us too jumpy. We think they are in storage somewhere as they were very careful and protective of them.
😇 nope, I didn't nick anything. I loved my job too much.
My Ds, from the moment he could talk, swore he was not going to DL. We still don't know why and he is 20. He went to Knott's Berry Farm, Legoland, Sea World, all with no problem, but drew the line at DL. I've never ridden the Cars ride or the Winnie the Pooh ride. He's a butthead! 😈

We are not brave enough to go to DL on a Saturday! I would go for a Tuesday instead of a Thursday, the later the week is the more busy it gets. Usually event days are quieter in the parks because the parks close early for regular guests, so regular guests that are not attending the event will skip being in the park that day. Because of that, a quiet day at the park doesn't mean a quiet night at the event.

The middle, we have done the Halloween party at Disney World and loved it. Have fun!
I think the planning is half the fun of a Disney trip, so no hate on the obsessing on first world problems.

I would pick the middle of the trip. The excitement has ebbed a bit from when you first arrive and at the end you may be exhausted. I haven't been to Disneyland since Oct '09...we had a miserable time (long story). However, since my daughter loves Disney so much, I am taking her for 2 days to Disneyland Paris when we go to London in March. I figured this is my first time on a plane, first time out of California (except Reno) so I might as well visit France too! We will be celebrating her 21st birthday which is in May, so it's all about her. I am excited about the trip, the Paris park looks nice. Have a wonderful time!!!

We got our tickets! It was actually very quick for is, I have just been arguing with my printer the last 30 minutes! I wanted to print my confirmation page since the email was taking so long.
I was in a queue on my phone and my iPad. My iPad one is still waiting and says it will be an hour. I kind of want to see how long it takes, but I will shut it down so I am not wasting anyone else's time. I actually checked out 15 minutes after they went for sale. I feel VERY lucky!

Oh, I should say my husband wanted the last day, so I did that. I have no idea why, normally he doesn't care, but since he chose that day that is what we went with. I am not worried about it being more crowded, I imagine all dates will sell out so they should all be the same crowded, right?
I am so super duper happy right now! I am also worried since it was so easy something bad will happen and the trip will be cancelled again.
Thank you for all your input!

I'm inclined to do it early or in the middle of the trip. I wouldn't want to feel like we have to leave early because we need to get a good night's sleep before leaving.
I'm not a Disney go-er as I absolutely hate crowds. However, if crowds weren't an issue, I'd be all over Disney Halloween.

It is a Thursday we are going, they offer the party on Sunday, Tuesday and Thursday and maybe Saturday too.

I will obviously enjoy it more when he is with me, but if it is too peopley I prefer him to go relax and decompress. Our flight is only 2 hours and no jet lag, so I am not worried about that part of it. The man can fall asleep anywhere within 5 seconds of sitting down if he likes. Drives me bonkers.

The little details in the Pooh ride almost make up for missing the CBJ. And the Cars ride is just perfect. Did you take the fur off the bears, so they looked like Fembots? I don’t scare easily but that would have pfreaked me right the hell out.
