I always have a book list going! I enjoy telling students it was sent by a "friend" of mine. I'm looping with my first graders to second grade so I need to add a bunch of new reads! Thanks for considering! Book List

I'm still diversifying my library, but I've only got a handful of books on my wishlist. I am taking a class through our state association on diversifying our libraries and I'm hoping to get more ideas from the class. I have a huge list! Most of my stuff is pretty pricey because it’s for a grant but I’ll share it here too. Last year so many peas helped me out with games for my Brain Gym class. I FINALLY get to run the class this year and I’m soooooo excited! Thank you peas for all the love and support for teachers! www.amazon.com/hz/wishlist/ls/7A1N4YEYPA9H?ref_=wl_share

Is it me or are none of the links working? They worked for me. Maybe it was just a momentary hiccup. I have a question about these wish lists.... if someone buys a book from the list (or anything) does that book/item disappear off the list so the recipient doesn't receive multiple copies of one book and none of others?

I am surprised that teachers are not getting increased funding this school year. I work in education grants and it seems like with all the added Covid funding our school districts are not spending all their money. Please talk to your administration about this. I know there are caveats to spending and then state legislatures are also putting conditions on funds. But for the past school year and the upcoming school year the money is out there. On a federal level.

On a federal level. We just got the breakdown of how our district is planning to use our ESSER funds, and it’s macro-level stuff. New programs, additional teachers, etc. They want the monies to impact as many students as possible. We’re even getting a raise! All good stuff, but it doesn’t put money in classrooms for supplies and books. I’m extremely fortunate to be in a school where the PTO funds us generously, so I don’t participate in these threads as a recipient. But I imagine other districts are much the same and individual teachers can still use help getting supplies that will help the students in their specific classroom.

I'm not trying to discourage Merge . I have participated in helping the teachers here too and I will again. I've just seen school districts struggling to utilize all the funding. We are definitely going to lapse funds which really stinks. If you've got it, spend it. Who knows when they will fund education to this level again. And again, our legislatures are putting restrictions on what the funds can be used for, so I get that too. Thanks for your input. And good on you for getting a raise. That's pretty awesome. ETA: a lot of our school districts are shifting funding. Putting more general fund dollars into classrooms. And shifting other expenses to ESSER funds this year. Anyway, that's where I was coming from with this.

So many schools could use even more than they’re getting.

I absolutely love the Peas that participate in this! Last year my family was amazed at all the “complete strangers” that bought things for my classroom and kids! This year I’m making a huge (slightly scary) move. I’ve spent all of my 22 years of teaching doing 4-6 mostly math. This year I’m moving to a Title 1 campus to be their Intervention Specialist. I will be doing reading and math intervention in grades k-4. I’ve never taught younger kids before, but I’m so excited for this new opportunity. I will be mostly working with small groups of kids in math and reading. I will also have 3 aides in my room that will have their own small groups. Here is my Amazon list Amazon Wish ListThankfully the person that had the position before me is my best friend, so she’s given me tons of feedback on the things I may need. Thank you to anyone that is donating to a teacher on this thread!

I'm on the board of our district's Education Foundation and we only received requests for HALF of the annual funding last year - we funded everything and begged for more proposals, but just did not receive them. It's usually a competitive process for grants between $200 and $2,000 with those that impact the most students given preference, but last year we funded anyone who made a proposal.

I love these threads and love supporting teachers everywhere! Thanks very much leeny! I spent hundreds and hundreds of hours volunteering in classrooms and have a deep respect for most teachers I've ever encountered. There has been the odd "burned out" one but the vast majority are incredibly loving and generous with their time. totally undervalued in our society... peasquared , I worked as an aide for two years back when dd was in 6th and 7th grades. Long ago...

One of my kinder teacher friends ( Coach Ben was featured in the NY Times last year) wraps up books that have been sent from his Amazon wishlist and records opening them up- unwraps them little by little asking students to predict and use clues as to what those books might be about.

Yes, I am having hiccups today. Something strange with our internet. Hmmm? Anyway, thank you so much for starting this thread and for helping teachers. I am shocked at the things my daughter has to pay for. It's nuts! She has been with a Title 1 school for 1 1/2 years but they closed it in June so she has to move to another school and a different type of classroom on August 9 when the teachers start back. My daughter is a special education teacher. This year she will teach kiddos with moderate disabilities. She is so excited but nervous. It will be a completely new classroom in this school. She told me it is fine to share her list. Thank you all for helping our teachers! www.amazon.com/hz/wishlist/ls/2CATKWDSC6VIN?ref_=wl_share
