Hi, I just got a Silhouette and wondered if anyone could suggest or offer up places or sites to look at to help me. I do not know one thing yet! Thank you, Mary

Hi Mary! Silhouette School is a really great resource! She has tons of free content (blog posts, YouTube videos) and also offers ebooks. I haven't ever bought her paid content (by the time I discovered her website, I knew most of the basics), but possibly other Peas can chime in about whether it's worth it. I will say that in this day and age, I think it's possible to learn most things for free on the internet, but sometimes it's worth paying some money to have a step-by-step process and all your resources in one place, so if you're someone who prefers that, some sort of paid course might be better for you. Completely depends on what you want and your budget! And of course, feel free to ask questions here!

Definitely Silhouette School. Melissa is great! Quick and to the point. I like that when I’m trying to remember how to do a specific task and just need to remember step 3. A lot of her tutorials have both a blog post and a video, so I can chose what works best for me.
I really recommend just picking a project and do it. Don’t make it something that has to be done in 15 minutes or that you are doing for someone else. But actually doing a project will walk you through the common steps. Also, don’t pick a Print and Cut or a tracing project for your first. Both are fairly simple to do, but you will be lost in the weeds if it’s your first project.
For paper projects, the cardstock that you use matters a lot. I use either American Crafts or the Recollection brand from Michael’s. Bazzil has some rag in their paper that can mess up a cut. I use it if I want textured paper or a certain color, but it isn’t my first choice.

Silhouette School is definitely a great resource. Sign up for their emails. Sometimes they offer free cutting files.
Silhouette America also has some pretty basic tutorials. They also offer a free file every Tuesday, and it is available for a week.
YouTube is a good resource, too.
You can also always ask questions here.

I was also going to suggest silhouette school 👍🏻 I find them to be easy to understand and thourough with the tutorials

Another vote for Silhouette school, that website has saved me so many times. Youtube is another great resource, I have learnt a lot from tutorials especially stuff to do with vinyl.

I agree on Silhouette School. I’ve done one of her classes (years ago) and I thought it was a good value. I have one of her e-books as well.
