Even FOX called out Pence for saying 'one day in January' 'Absolutely false': Fox News brutally fact checks Mike Pence after he whitewashes Jan. 6 attackDavid Edwards October 10, 2021 A Fox News segment criticized former Vice President Mike Pence on Sunday after he referred to the January 6 attack on the U.S. Capitol as simply "one day in January." *** Saying 'one day in January' is kind of like calling 9/11 one day in September," Fox News host Howard Kurtz noted on Sunday. "It was a pretty tragic day!" Kurtz went on to ask Fox News contributor Mara Liasson if she agreed with Pence's assertion that the media is focusing on Jan. 6 to distract from President Joe Biden's challenges. "No!" Liasson replied. "I think there has been tremendous coverage of Joe Biden's considerable woes. I think the media has been like a dog with a bone on that." "The other thing that Mike Pence said which I think it's absolutely false is to say that by focusing on January 6, the most violent insurrection against the Capitol in over 100 years, somehow is denigrating the 74 million people who voted for Donald Trump," she added. "That's just completely false." youtu.be/g1jYWNMswYAwww.rawstory.com/fox-news-mike-pence/

We've got a problem.... Official transcripts released by the Democrat-led committee on Thursday reveal that DOJ lawyer Bradley Weinsheimer made "a dozen" attempts to curtail the investigation, even when the Biden administration has promised heightened transparency for the proceeding. In one exchange, Weinsheimer effectively pulled the plug on multiple lines of inquiry with Byung Pak, the former U.S. attorney for the Northern District of Georgia. Pak abruptly resigned from his post back in January, later telling the Senate Judiciary Committee in August that he would have been fired by Trump for failing to back Trump's claims of election fraud in Georgia. In the transcript, Democratic investigators ask Pak if his office came up with any evidence for Trump's now-debunked claim that 2,560 felons had voted in the Peach State. But Weinsheimer stopped the line of questioning in its tracks, arguing that it was outside the scope of the committee's inquiry, according to POLITICO. www.rawstory.com/doj-trump-election-fraud/

Look out... The US Marshalls may go get the first four .. Meadows, Patel, Bannon and Scavino if they don't show up!!!! A member of the U.S. House select committee explained how Donald Trump's allies might be rounded up and arrested if they continued to defy congressional subpoenas in the Jan. 6 investigation. Rep. Stephanie Murphy (D-FL) appeared on MSNBC's "Morning Joe," where she called for fines or jail time for former Trump advisers who flout orders for their testimony and documents related to the insurrection, and she revealed what questions the committee had for former White House chief of staff Mark Meadows and others served with the subpoenas. "I want to know how much planning was involved, who was involved in the planning, who funded it, how they -- what their intent was when they came into that day, and then what they knew as that day unfolded and the safety and security of people like the vice president and members of Congress were at risk, [and] what they did, either to respond or not respond on that occasion," Murphy said. If those individuals don't show up for their scheduled testimony, Murphy said they could be taken into custody by the U.S. Marshals Service. "We have engaged with a wide variety of law enforcement offices, including the U.S. Marshals, in order to issue the subpoenas," Murphy said. "We will use everything, as you said, with all due respect, we will use all of the agencies and all of the tools at our disposal to issue the subpoenas and enforce them." www.rawstory.com/subpeona-jan-6/

they absolutely need to haul those peoples' asses into court, arrest them, whatever... no 'civil penalties' or making them pay fines, or waiting for court cases to be heard. NO.
They need to be hauled in to Congress, either after or before being hauled off to jail for not complying. (after or before, whichever is the correct order in a case like this.)

Sometimes I think Greg Sargent can be a bit dramatic with his gloom & doom. But in this case he’s right. Either we are a country of laws or we aren’t. And it’s past time we start holding people accountable for their actions. IMO.
“Opinion: Trump cronies who defy subpoenas may be prosecuted. Here’s why that matters.”
Opinion by Greg Sargent Columnist Today at 11:41 a.m. EDT
“The right wing in this country, particularly under Donald Trump, has pulled off a spectacular trick. It has persuaded many neutral observers that its chronic anti-democratic bad acting is a natural and inevitable background feature of our politics that is properly seen as beyond accountability, and that forbearance in response is the price for future democratic stability.
This is why the coming battle over Trump cronies who are likely to defy the Jan. 6 select committee’s subpoenas is so important. At stake is not just whether we’ll achieve basic accountability for a sustained effort to overturn U.S. democracy.
Also at stake is whether our system can uphold the rule of law in the face of a concerted campaign to cow good faith actors into accepting that the price of peace is special treatment that places bad actors above the law.”

So...$150,000 + $300,000 for "stop the steal" rally and March to the Capitol...... Should she be a witness?!?!? According to a report from the Washington Post, the daughter of the founder of the Publix grocery store chain who helped finance the Jan 6th rally that turned into a riot at the Capitol, also spread more of her money to the nonprofit arm of the Republican Attorneys General Association to be used to promote the rally.
The report goes on to state that Julie Jenkins Fancelli's $150,000 contribution was " intended in part to promote the rally. The nonprofit organization paid for a robocall touting a march that afternoon to the U.S. Capitol to 'call on Congress to stop the steal.'" *** According to the new report, the wealthy Trump donor, "gave the previously undisclosed contribution to RAGA's nonprofit Rule of Law Defense Fund, or RLDF, records reviewed by The Washington Post show. On the same day, the records show that Fancelli gave $300,000 to Women for America First, the 'Stop the Steal' group that obtained a permit for the rally featuring former president Donald Trump."*** "We have many questions about coordination and funding, and we are actively seeking records and testimony that will answer those questions," said committee spokesman Tim Mulvey. "Many witnesses are already engaging with the committee, and we expect cooperation to help us get the answers we're seeking." The Post notes that inquiries to Fancelli -- who is reportedly not involved in the family's business -- went unanswered and it is not known if she was aware exactly how the money would be spent. www.rawstory.com/capitol-riot-julie-jenkins-fancelli/

Former was not even present when these conversations occured, therefore not even remotely executive privilege. President Donald Trump is attempting to assert executive privilege for a man who wasn't even working for the White House and for conversations that didn't include the ex-president. That's what NBC News reporter Scott MacFarlane tweeted on Monday evening as Steve Bannon prepared to refuse a Congressional subpoena and risk being held in criminal contempt of Congress. One of the pieces of information that the Jan. 6 House Select Committee is requesting is information about a meeting that Bannon reportedly had at Trump Tower with members of Congress on Jan. 5. The Committee specified in their release of the documents that the information being sought doesn't necessarily concern executive privilege. Thus, Trump can't block Bannon from answering questions about any members of Congress he worked with around Jan. 6. "Anyone with whom he communicated by any means with respect to any aspect of the planning, objectives, conduct, or participation in the January 6, 2021 rally, including but not limited to Boris Epshteyn, Kashyap Patel, and Ezra Cohen Watnick," quoted MacFarlane from the Congressional documents. "the financing or fundraising to assist any individual's or organization's travel to or accommodation in Washington, D.C., to attend or participate in the January 5, 2021 rally," the documents continue. It also cites "The 'War Room' podcast, insofar as at any time he communicated through it statements referring or relating to the January 6, 2021 rally, including all statements concerning its planning, objectives, purpose, organization, message, or sponsorship." Those citations prompted former U.S. Attorney Joyce White Vance to note that none of these questions are protected by executive privilege and that Trump has no hope of blocking testimony on them. www.rawstory.com/trump-executive-privilege-steve-bannon/

Maybe they should call the closet-hiders during the insurrection!!! They surely knew they were not tourists!! On Tuesday, The Washington Post reported that Sen. Tommy Tuberville (R-AL) hid in a closet with roughly a dozen other Republican senators while the Capitol attack took place on January 6.According to the report, during that time many of the lawmakers huddled there questioned whether they would still go through with a plan to object to the counting of electors in closely divided states won by President Joe Biden — which the rioters were attempting to influence. Some did change their minds, but Tuberville, a former college football coach newly elected to the Senate, did not. www.rawstory.com/tommy-tuberville-capitol-riot/

Republicans.... they are causing themselves problems in the future!! But, in the future it won't matter how they voted now. They'll change their vote to benefit themselves just like they did with Supreme Court nominations. One set of rules and votes for when they're in charge, another for when they're in the minority.

Time for AG Garland to move, quickly!! On Thursday, multiple legal experts weighed in on the criminal referral of former Trump adviser Steve Bannon for contempt of Congress — and urged the Justice Department to act on it as quickly as possible. And former Harvard Law professor Laurence Tribe took it a step further, suggesting that if Garland does not prosecute Bannon, he should be replaced at the Justice Department. www.rawstory.com/steve-bannon-doj-prosecution/

Jan 6th rioters to testify... Vitural.. Jan. 6 Committee expands reach – now interviewing rioters who stormed the Capitol David Badash, The New Civil Rights Movement October 29, 2021 The U.S. House Committee on the January 6 Attack is expanding the reach of its investigation to include interviewing rioters who were among the thousands who breached the Capitol during that deadly day. On Friday afternoon the Committee will interview remotely one of the 650 charged in the January 6 attack. Politico describes the interview as "part of an attempt to collect evidence about the rioters' motivations, contacts and travel arrangements." An attorney representing multiple Jan. 6 defendants also arranged for the Committee to interview another defendant, not one of her clients, "who claimed to have information related to associates of Alex Jones, the far right broadcaster who helped promote pro-Trump election conspiracy theories." That attorney, Heather Shaner, tells Politico another of her clients has already spoken to the Committee and still another has offered too. "The committee," Politico adds, "was set to hold closed-door interviews Friday with Amy and Kylie Kremer, a mother-daughter duo whom committee investigators believed were part of organizing Trump's rally at the Ellipse. But a committee aide confirmed the depositions were postponed amid ongoing talks." www.rawstory.com/also-this-jan-6-committee-expands-reach-now-interviewing-rioters-who-stormed-the-capitol/

We have another pre-rally contributed... can't use executive privilege for campaign activities. Former approved the Campaign payments!!! REVEALED: Fox's Judge Jeanine orchestrated payments for ‘command centers’ that could blow up Trump’s defense Travis Gettys November 03, 2021 Fox News host Jeanine Pirro orchestrated campaign payments for 'command centers' at DC hotels that could blow up Donald Trump's executive privilege claims.Former New York City mayor Rudy Giuliani and the city's former police chief Bernie Kerik had been paying for hotel rooms and travel related to their efforts to overturn Trump's election loss, but the pair grew concerned by early December as the bills piled up, reported the Washington Post. How do I know I'm gonna get my money back?" Kerik thought at the time, as he recently told the newspaper. Kerik knew that Giuliani hadn't been reimbursed for his expenses or paid for his services, but their friend Jeanine Pirro, a Fox News host beloved by the twice-impeached one-term president, called Republican National Committee chairwoman Ronna McDaniel and asked her to help them out.McDaniel spoke to Kerik by phone but refused to give him money, and instead recommended that he ask the Trump campaign to reimburse his expenses, according to the former police chief and a GOP official. The campaign cut its first check to Kerik in mid-December with Trump's approval, according to a former senior campaign official, and eventually paid more than $225,000 for hotel rooms and suites at the Willard Hotel in Washington, D.C., that served as a "command center" for efforts to overturn the election results ahead of Jan. 6 riots. Those payments, according to legal experts, could undermine Trump's claims of executive privilege over documents and testimony related to the U.S. Capitol riots sought by the House select committee investigating the insurrection. www.rawstory.com/jeanine-pirro-donald-trump/
