Whatever happened to love thy neighbor? I saw a church sign recently that said "Love thy neigbor, wear a mask" and it made me so happy. I'm a Christian and I'm so angry and frustrated with what I see among so many churches throughout this pandemic. The ones I'm associated with are using this opportunity to serve the community- holding a food giveaway/vaccination clinic, using the empty building to house the homeless, etc. But then you see things like this in the news and I don't blame people for thinking Christians really don't know how to love at all. I wish I knew. Just yesterday my evangelical married to a pastor cousin posted a Facebook rant about not owing your neighbor anything (regarding vaccines and masks). It was really disheartening to say the least. |

That sign would make me happy to see too! I'm Christian also and I keep having to remind myself that the loudest ones always override the quieter ones. And some churches have moved very far away from the basic Christian values. It's sad to see it right up in my face all the time. But I do know there are plenty of neighbor loving churches out there. We just don't hear from them that often because it's not as dramatic and click worthy. You should be proud of the church you are affiliated with! |

We just don't hear from them that often because it's not as dramatic and click worthy I wish we would hear from them and that they would be dramatic and click-worthy by LOUDLY and PUBLICLY denouncing the "F they neighbor" brand of "Christian" churches/congregants. |

well..many from my church's denomination march with blm, and for the poor and for justice and for rights for everyone. put up signs support causes.
we are out there making noise.. just not sensational noise.
doing the hard work of caring for the poor, feeding the hungry, helping the oppressed.. you all know the verse.
