Huh, interesting. I had no idea things like existed, looking more or less like houses, in residential neighborhoods. Looks like the house directly behind it is also something similar.

Okay.. not caring for the kitchen.. there is just no personality. No pics of the bathrooms? That tells me they are outdated. Maybe gross. The color scheme? Gotta go. To much white going on. And what is up with the ceilings? So cheap looking. Gotta get rid of that furniture.. doesn't go with the house at all. Otherwise.. good bones..

Can only be used as a Data House, no other use permitted. According to the listing there are other potential uses: I never thought of having an off-site storage house for my wine and art collection.

Take a look at the street view.. it is SO out of place... I was picturing it with similar houses to blend in. It's like a sore thumb. I can't imagine me living in the little house across the street and walking out everyday and seeing that house. How in the world did that get zoning approval?? Just random thoughts.

I never thought of having an off-site storage house for my wine and art collection. Well DUH.... You didn't. That's my biggest problem right now.. Where to store all my Boone's Farm Wine and Elvis velvet paintings I have been hoarding...

Shelves are sufficient in the craft room.

In most cities, there's not much to stop someone from building a huge house on a lot in a neighborhood of tiny houses. Setback requirements, footprint vs lot size, etc. but not usually prohibiting building a 10,000 sf home in a neighborhood of 1700 sf homes. It's just that no one wants to do that because it would hurt the value of the big house. And since that building was styled like a house and probably didn't have much in-and-out employee traffic, it could have fallen under mixed use zoning.

There’s a wonderful old neighborhood where we used to live that had McMansions wedged into tiny lots next to old, smaller homes. It destroyed the character of the neighborhood and looked awful. Where we live now a tear down/rebuild has to be approved by the design review board and wouldn’t allowed if it was too large or didn’t fit in architecturally. Not that every neighbor living next to a rebuild is 100% satisfied, but at the end it works.

I could see someone using this as an illegal grow house. The massive draw of electricity from the lamps could easily be explained by saying you're running a data center out of your house!

Every house, should come with a room with storage racks/shelving units.....like the room in this house.
Envisioning all the things a room like that could hold....Christmas and other holiday decor, extra paper goods, sports equiptment, camping gear, folding tables/chairs, winter bedding, etc...

No doubt!!! Not the garage, not the basement.. just a big room for this kind of stuff... wouldn't that be the greatest. Should be a rule for every single house built. lol

If I move in my desk top computer and my laptop, does that count as data storage? Then use the rest of the space as an indoor garden/orchard (not into marijuana) and crafting area.

Do I get to keep all of the other things in the house? I'm TOTALLY in! Oh the potential that it COULD have. The outside isn't bad actually.

And the details say one half bath. So stool and sink and that’s it. Guess you’d have a hard time holding a mega-rave party in this place!

SO can have his dream gym and I can have my dream craft space. No showers though, at least it has a toilet. Buying the small house next to it would be perfect! Lol!
Can you even get a residential loan on that place? Commercial loans have to be paid back a lot quicker.

And since that building was styled like a house and probably didn't have much in-and-out employee traffic, it could have fallen under mixed use zoning. It’s pretty common in my small city to have newer, larger mcmansiony houses wedged onto tiny lots. I think people assume the neighborhood will evolve with time and support the updates. When it hasn’t happened yet, it doesn’t really work. I happened to stop by an open house a couple weekends ago. Really appealing modern craftsman style, 4bd/4ba, 5100sf, huge front porch, garage, but when I walked over to it I noticed how most of the houses around it were the original 1960s built 1200sf houses. Which are perfectly nice, but 350-400k lower in value than this particular house. In this crazy market where everything sells for over asking with multiple bids on the first day listed, this house (which is beautiful and well done) has been sitting for 3 weeks now. It is not priced wrong for the market, it’s just overdone for the neighborhood. It really sticks out in a bad way and illustrates your thought exactly.

I assumed it was in a neighborhood of similar sized houses. It looks like another big house just behind it. similar looking. Odd. I was told the other large house is the replacement for this one, and that is why this one is on the market.

I finally looked up the address for this place recognized the area immediately, as it's not too far from me. It is definitely NOT styled to match the neighborhood. That seems like it would be impossible to sell. It needs so much work and no one with the budget for it (or rebuilding) will want the location.
