How do places check it?
In the US our card is too big to fit in a wallet.
Is it a card, a qr or bar code that pulls up the face and status?
Just wondering how it might work

In the US, but I carry the cards in my wallet for the five people in my household.
There’s supposed to be a website in our state (Utah) that shows all vaccinations (not just COVID), but it wasn’t super successful for us. It didn’t pull any vaccines for me, and my two minor children only show their first COVID shots, not the second (which they got in June), but it does show all of their other vaccines. (I can’t access my husband or over-18 kids, so I don’t know if theirs are accurate.)

I’m a California pea with a QR code proof of vaccination and I didn’t have to submit anything. I assume it was handled by the place that did my vaccines, I have a screenshot in my phone.

@sunnycamom okay, I followed the link, and very easily got my QR code. Thank you.
Now for the part where I show how tech deficient I am. I had it sent to my phone, so do I need to take a screen shot of it, or is there something else that allows me to pull it up?

I screen shot mine but also saved the website and have my code memorized.

In this case it is a choice to have papers or not and IF businesses started to require them the person could go elsewhere.

Germany here. We have vaccine booklets, where all vaccines, not just COVID, are recorded. After my second covid shot, I was also given a printout with a QR code, that says it is an EU Covid-19 certificate. I could then scan that code into our ‘Corona-Warn’ app, and from there I can get it at any time, just by opening the app - no screenshot needed. I can use any of these as proof of vaccination. We are currently on vacation in Austria, and our hotel required either proof of vaccination or negative tests every 48 hours - we just brought our certificates with us, and that was fine.

We can download our «coronapass» ( corona passport) from the website where test results and vaccinations are registered. Our national «passport» and the EU one, are currently the only ones accepted as proof (or, at least it was two weeks ago when I checked). The US documentation is currently not accepted, since it is deemed as too easy to counterfeit, so Norwegians returning from the US will have to be quarantined.

UK - via the NHS and we can pull that up on our phones, get a QR code etc.
On a side note - the UK has just decided that EU and US travellers can come here without quarantining if they are double jabbed and I am VERY curious to see how an American's genuine vax status will be qualified, as you have no national system. Currently that seems wide open to abuse if some just have pieces of paper/card!

Yeah, I know I sound like a dork.

Just wondering how it might work What do you mean by your card is too big in the US? My card is wallet sized and so is everyone else's I've seen. Yours must be the exception rather than the rule. Mine is just hand-written info on a standard paper card, anyone could have forged it. My daughter's is fancier and she got a phone thing too (she's in CO).

It seems, although it's a bit early to tell for certain just yet, having only opened up on the 19th July, that the number of infections are decreasing here. Yet, it seems that they are increasing in the US which is understandable as the Delta arrived there later than it did here. I don't understand their way of thinking. Bowing to pressure from the airlines maybe?.

I’m in Oregon and the cards we have (issued by many health agencies through the CDC) are all larger (3” x 4”) than a wallet-sized photo (2.5” x3.5”). We’d have to fold them to fit in a wallet. I have Kaiser health insurance, and proof of my vaccination can also be found in my health app with them.

Interesting, since the German system was hacked last week. They are currently not inputting any CDC vaccination verifications into the system.

Currently that seems wide open to abuse if some just have pieces of paper/card! The reality is that all systems can be faked. I know the German system was hacked last week. For those returning to Belgium from the UK, we still have to quarantine when we get back. We had planned Scotland last September, then tentatively for this September. Now we are thinking next May. Someday it will happen! We are US citizens living in Belgium. We were vaccinated through the US military system and had the US CDC cards. Just this week, they announced a plan for us to get it put into the CovidSafe app by taking our CDC cards and a ton of paperwork to a pharmacy to input the info. There’s a pharmacy in La Louviere that is generously offering their site and they speak English. We’ve been to France a few times this month and our CDC cards have been accepted without question at the Louvre and the Catacombs. I’ve heard that sometimes they also ask for a passport and other times they do not. We were asked for passports at the Catacombs but not at the Louvre (but it was pouring rain and the checkpoint is outside.) I know they are also requiring them at other museums, the Eiffel Tower and for hotel check in. But we’ve never been asked on the train or the metro, but I think checks are coming for the trains in August.

Just wondering how it might work It fits nicely in a 3x4 stamp storage pouch if you happen to have any of those lying around. My DS took his in one if my 3x4 clear stamp pouches when he traveled. However, so far, the only 2 places who have asked for it ( domestically not for travel ) have accepted a photo if it front & back.

Yeh, you're best to leave it for a while. Up until this coming Monday the rules were the same here too for Belgium as it was on the amber list so you would have to quarantine for 10 days unless you were a UK citizens that had been vaccinated under the UK vaccine programme. From Monday though for EU countries, if you are fully vaccinated. with the exception of France who still have to abide by the testing and quarantine rules.
