The wait period is a bitch mom Sending you calming healthy not cancer prayers vibes and good thoughts. Side note My mom went through the same process with about the same time frame of appts 2 years ago. Abnormal spot on mammo. Followed by ultrasound a few days later that didn’t confirm or negate cancer. Then a biopsy I think two weeks after that. Hers was just dense breast tissue. Biopsy confirmed no cancer. Hoping the same fluke situation for you.

Mine never showed up on a mammogram, even after being diagnosed via biopsy, and it wasn’t a small tumor. But I just wanted to say they never seemed to be in a big rush between steps. I did have an aggressive form of breast cancer. But their calmness about it helped calm me down, too. I know, it’s awful waiting to hear. Try not to panic. It doesn’t help! And now I have a new lump near my mastectomy scar, so maybe I’m starting all over again. Nope nope nope. It’s a calcification or scar tissue. Just nope.

Cancer-related, but not breast cancer: DH had bladder/prostate cancer. It was a month after Dx to begin chemo. That was almost 2 years ago. He was Dx'd with neuroendocrine cancer of the liver after a liver biopsy confirmed it. It's over a month between the diagnosis and his appt with the Oncology team specializing in this type of cancer. I'm always wondering why they can wait so long after the diagnosis, and I hope that it means it's slow-growing.
Prayers and good vibes to you that this will be diagnosed quickly for you. The waiting is very difficult. xo

Mine was days.
These are triaged by how suspicious they appear. If you are waiting weeks, the suspicion of cancer is not very high,
When I saw what they were looking at, I knew it was cancer. No question, (note that I am not just a physician but I did a beset surgery elective in residency so I had plenty of experience in looking at cancers on mammograms)

I am having to go in on Monday for a 3D and an ultrasound after my last mammogram. My GYN told me that the radiologist would let me know that day if all was well or if I would need a biopsy. I can’t imagine having to wait 20 more days. Prayers for you…

Hugs, mom. Hoping that the delay in the appointment means that "they" believe this is not a crisis. With mine, I had the mammogram and ultrasound the same day, and before I had left the diagnostics centre on a Friday afternoon, the dr there had arranged with a surgeon for a lumpectomy on the Monday.

I was called back for a second mammogram, then had my ultrasound done that day. I was told that it was highly suspicious for cancer at that time. Lumpectomy, radiation and I just started the Arimidex last week. It’s incredible how many peas have dealt with cancer. I would make a phone call, waiting 20 days is torture and unacceptable. We are here for you!

I think I am the exception here. I found a lump on a Monday--called the Breast Cancer place I have gone to for 20 years. Got an appointment 2 days later. Had a mammogram, then ultrasound the same day. Dr. came in to do the ultrasound and told me immediately it was either a bruise or most likely scar tissue from my reduction 10 years earlier. I would be upset mom to wait long.

Out of everything I've been through, all the unpleasantness, I can honestly say that the waiting for results was pretty much the worst part. This sounds nuts but even if the news is bad, once it's confirmed, the jitters, nightmares and inability to sleep or concentrate subside and you just get on with it. Not knowing the best is worse than knowing the worst.
I found lumps 19/12, saw the doctor 21/12, had the triple assessment (mammogram, ultrasound and biopsies, and scary words like "don't like the look of it, suspicious, abnormal, technically challenging" but refusal to commit) 9/1, was diagnosed 21/1. So it was almost a month from discovery to diagnosis. It does take a while for biopsy results to come back.
Hugs and prayers to everyone going through this. It's a beast.

mom sorry you are dealing with this. I was not diagnosed until after biopsy, which occurred about 10 days after my mammogram. After radiologist advised seeing a breast surgeon, I had an appointment the following week then she ordered the biopsy for the following week. It all moved pretty fast. I had diagnosis in about 15 days. Currently in chemo treatment. I am curious why they would schedule you this way and would def try to see if you can get a copy of the radiology report or more info from the radiologist. I'm praying for a benign result for you, but just to assure....breast cancer isn't considered an emergency and is a slow growing cancer. For reference, I first found my lump last October and not much changed by March. Sorry to see so many peas going thru this. It sucks!

Mine was found on my yearly mammogram. It was very, very small and couldn't be felt. In fact, I thought it was an entirely different area until I saw where the ultrasound was focused. I had my mammogram and later that day my doctor called, said there was an area that looked suspicious and I needed to have an ultrasound. I went the next week for the US and while I was there, the tech had the radiologist look at my scans and then told me I needed a needle biopsy. They said since the radiologist was there I could have it done then, or come back later. I had them go ahead and do it then. I found out a couple of days later that it was cancer.
I've had to have a couple of ultrasounds before and they turned out to be nothing; I thought this one would be the same so I went by myself and in fact, I was so busy at work that I almost didn't go at all. I really wish I had taken someone with me. I was a mess after they told me I needed a biopsy and being there alone was not fun.
Sending you good juju and prayers!

Thank you all for the good wishes. I have a doctor appt on Thursday. Good! I’m glad you are getting in this week. 😀 I’m hoping and praying that it is some non-cancerous-weirdness (official medical terminology). 🤞🏻 I’m not sure what I will do when I no longer have every-6-months appointments with my oncologist where my whole chest is palpated for lumps.

I asked around today and it seems like the wait here for everyone is about this long. I did call today and they have a 4 person wait list, so Im not hopeful of getting moved up. The receptionist said Covid has them working to get caught up. I leave tomorrow for a pre-planned trip to Nashville, so I am going to go with DH and have a good time. When I get back I am going to call again and see where we are. I have convinced myself its nothing probably.....since I am on HRT my risk is a little higher but most people get call backs for nothing so I am going with that til I know otherwise.

I'm going through this now but not fully dx'ed as cancer. Mammo/Ultrasound Dec, Mammo-assisted biopsy Jan, MRI Feb, Mammo July, now they want to do another biopsy. It's worrisome and "atypical". So it's a long time of testing and seeing and waiting. Sending you lots of hugs. Hope its nothing!

I'm sorry you're going through this. My breast cancer was found in a routine mammogram and then an ultrasound on December 27 (2019.) I had to wait till January 13 for a biopsy, and then finally got the results and the bad news on January 15. It was pretty torturous. I know they're probably very busy, but it is awful to have to wait for three weeks to find out if you have cancer. I'll hope and pray for peace and good news for all of you who are waiting and worrying. mom @zingermack lucyg

Same day they took one pic and said we need to take more pictures you have a bunch or large malignancies . Then had me go to US confirmed there were at least 7 tumors ( you could feel one ) they did biospy that same day and after looking realized there were 9 did biospies and knew it was cancer in less than 24 hrs had subtyping within 3 days . They looked back at my old mammograms and it had been there at least 16 months ( 2 Previous mammon’s for sure and maybe a 3rd) I am the 17th women in my maternal ../ maternal line to have BC it’s skipped no one , and we knew I had minimum three faulty genes so they’d been watching it , I’d been fighting trying to get a preventive mastectomy for about a year before I found mine .

I found my lump while breastfeeding my third baby. My doctor said she thought it was a clogged duct but ordered an ultrasound. During the ultrasound the radiologist kept saying "I'm so sorry, just know we have the best team here." I was confused. It was like they knew immediately it was cancer. I had a mammogram immediately after the ultrasound and a biopsy two days later. Four days later I was told it was cancer. One week later I began chemo.
I'm praying it is nothing. Cancer sucks.
