I had a mammogram and ultrasound the same day, then got a call 4 days later telling me I had cancer (yes, over the phone). Looking at my mammogram report, it says it was completely normal because I had dense breast tissue. Always question the mammogram is my mantra--ask if you have dense breast tissue, and if so I'd advocate for having routing ultrasounds or breast MRIs done instead.
Also, 5+ years after I had bilateral mastectomies I had a lump on my breast. They did an ultrasound and mammogram and it's a calcification caused by trauma--my then-6 month old was a prolific pincher and shed grab the (totally numb) boob and pinch the crap out of it when she was drinking a bottle. All that pinching irritated the capsule where my implant is and made a big disc of calcification. It's visible and gets slowly bigger over time. Looking forward to getting my implants switched out in 2 years so they can address that.

Mine never showed up on a mammogram, even after being diagnosed via biopsy, and it wasn’t a small tumor. But I just wanted to say they never seemed to be in a big rush between steps. I did have an aggressive form of breast cancer. But their calmness about it helped calm me down, too. I know, it’s awful waiting to hear. Try not to panic. It doesn’t help! And now I have a new lump near my mastectomy scar, so maybe I’m starting all over again. Lucy, how was your appointment?

I’ll let you know when I hear something. I’ve never had an U/S before, so I don’t know how long it takes to get answers. I’m sure someone else can fill me in on that? ETA my doctor thought it felt like a cyst.

I have an ultrasound with every mammogram, I think they call that a diagnostic mammogram (?) and I usually schedule my follow-up doctor’s appointment a few business days after. Due to severe health anxiety I can’t read this thread right now I just saw it and checked last message posted so all of you waiting on results including mom and Lucy I will be thinking of you and hoping for the very best outcome! (((Hugs)))

Thanks, dewryce . You don’t have to read the thread if it’s going to upset you! I didn’t, not even the OP I just saw the title and wanted to come offer support to mom…so I checked the last post (yours) to see if I could get an idea if the mentioned update in the title was good or bad. Have definitely learned my limits and what sets me off when I’m not handling things as well! And I should clarify, I schedule the appointment for a few days after the mammogram/ultrasound, not wait until a few days after to call and schedule it. I think I probably mention when the appointment is to the tech and maybe when I check in, it is also possible they have my chart noted for the anxiety . Anyway, I call the day before my appointment to make sure the results will be there in time, and to confirm thattheynwere received, and I don’t think I have ever had an issue. Don’t want to waste the doctor’s time or mine if the results won’t be available. And I’ve had many, many cysts that my doctor has been able to appreciate, even one that felt fairly worrisome, and they’ve all been clear. I will keep you in my thoughts and hope you get the same good results! It seems to me they probably feel a lot of boobs and have a good idea what they’re dealing with!

The radiologist says it’s nothing. I will discuss further with my doctor when I see her again in a couple of weeks. I’m delighted if it’s nothing, but I want to remind them that the last time I was diagnosed, three different doctors thought it was nothing (four if you count the one who read my mammogram) … right up until the path report came back and it was ugly.

Missed this earlier, but the time from my recall to my appointment was days. Very few days. I tried to rationalize that maybe they did magically have an opening.
Appointments are definitely triaged from highest risk to lowest risk,

Sending you love, mom and hoping that the delayed appointment is indeed a good indicator that it's nothing too bad.

Deep breaths.
If it's any consolation I just saw my older sister for the first time since COVID started last year and she was diagnosed with breast cancer. She has gone through surgery and radiation and shingles to boot. Her scans last week show no signs of cancer and she looks absolutely FABULOUS.
However this turns out you can and will get through it all.

mom - I'm so sorry you got an unsettling result from your testing. I can imagine how very stressful the next 3 weeks will be, as waiting is so hard. i hope you'll be able to squeeze every bit of fun out of your trip to fuel you for the road you may have ahead, and until your NEXT trip to Hawaii. xox

I'm sorry. I know waiting 3 weeks will seem like forever but I hope you can enjoy your vacation and get the best possible news once they do more testing.

I'm truly sorry that you received concerning news. You're in my thoughts that if it is cancer it has been caught very very early. Meanwhile, enjoy your trip to Hawaii and try and just have fun.

Hugs to you. FWIW, I would make the same decision as you have about the timing of your biopsy.

Try to relax and regroup a bit in Hawaii. I would have made a similar decision to go on the trip, especially since you need to be off meds for a week to do the procedure.

Damn. Just what I didn't want to see. But... I'm going through chemo at the moment for BC, so please PM me if there is anything, ANYTHING I can help with. We need to stick together through this kind of rubbish. OK, sweet pea?
