Florida is getting 14 morgue trucks delivered. The novel coronavirus surge in Florida shows little sign of slowing down, and hospitals are continuing to struggle to keep up with the massive influx of patients. The Orlando Sentinel reports that 14 portable morgues are being driven into central Florida as hospitals have run out of room to store dead bodies. The number of deaths right now is unprecedented,", Lynne Drawdy, executive director of the Central Florida Disaster Medical Coalition, tells the Orlando Sentinel. "What we're hearing from the hospitals is that the death count right now is higher than it ever has been."Raul Pino, a health officer in Orange County, tells the Orlando Sentinel that the morgues are not just an ominous sign for the present, but for the weeks to come.www.rawstory.com/19-deaths-in-florida-2654819735/

We already know about his 10 million donor through his PAC, who bought the multimillions of RegeneRon stock!! Efforts at damage control by the administration of Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis is backfiring by drawing even more attention to the sources of his political funding. A new editorial published by the Sun-Sentinel newspaper on Friday chided DeSantis for his overly defensive reaction to a report about his largest donor. What's with Gov. Ron DeSantis and his spokeswoman, Christina Pushaw?" the Sun-Sentinel editorial board asked. "Their high-volume squawking over an Associated Press story about his biggest campaign contributor has been so over the top and out of proportion to the article itself that it calls to mind Shakespeare's phrase, 'The lady doth protest too much, methinks.' That has been a metaphor for suspicious insincerity ever since 'Hamlet.'" www.rawstory.com/desantis-christina-pushaw-regeneron/

Say it isn't so.. Except it is!! Florida doctor bounced from post for allegedly selling $50 notes to exempt kids from wearing masks NY Daily News BRIAN NIEMIETZ August 25, 2021, 2:54 PM A Florida emergency room physician has reportedly been removed from his post after selling $50 doctor notes to parents hoping to exempt their children from wearing masks in school. Dr. Brian Warden’s offer to provide such notes, written on signed stationery, were posted on social media, according to the Tallahassee Democrat. Citing Warden’s alleged inability to conduct himself in a fashion consistent with the “absolute integrity” of Capital Regional Medical Center, a spokeswoman for that organization said Tuesday the doctor would no longer provide care for patients at the facility where he’d been working. The Orlando Sentinel reports that Warden practices in Leon County, which is one 10 counties statewide to challenge Gov. Ron DeSantis’ order against mask mandates. Without a doctor’s note, all students up to the eighth grade must wear face coverings to contain the COVID pandemic, which is running rampant in Florida. COVID has killed a third-grader and a child under 5 years old in Leon County in the past month. The state recorded its highest daily death count during the pandemic with 228 new fatalities reported Wednesday morning. Warden has recently moved from Philadelphia to Tallahassee, Fla. www.aol.com/news/florida-doctor-bounced-post-allegedly-185418893.html

Another approach to states with bans on mask mandates www.npr.org/sections/back-to-school-live-updates/2021/08/30/1032520335/education-department-civil-rights-investigations-mask-mandatesThe U.S. Department of Education sent a warning to five states on Monday that their statewide bans on mask mandates, including in schools, could violate students' civil rights. Suzanne B. Goldberg, the department's acting assistant secretary for civil rights, sent letters to state education leaders in Iowa, Oklahoma, South Carolina, Tennessee and Utah, informing them that the department's Office for Civil Rights is investigating whether their bans are discriminatory. At the center of the department's concerns, according to Monday's letters, are students with disabilities who may be at heightened risk for severe illness from COVID-19. Goldberg's letters say these investigations will focus on whether the state bans are discriminatory by preventing students with disabilities from safely returning to in-person education.

DeSantis is ... Gov. Ron DeSantis's administration is taking his war on vaccine mandates to a new level. The Tampa Bay Times reports that a new Florida Department of Health rule will impose $5,000 fines on businesses, schools, and local governments that require proof of vaccination as a precondition for service.*** What's more, the rule states that businesses can be fined up to $5,000 for each violation, meaning that a concert venue that requires vaccination proof for 10,000 attendees could theoretically be on the hook for a $50 million fine."Violators will be issued a notice of their infraction, and they'll have a chance to appeal their fines, the rule says," reports the Tampa Bay Times. "Once the fine is finalized, entities will have 30 days to pay it. The rule will go into effect Sept. 16." www.rawstory.com/desantis-florida-vaccination-mandates/

I love that Dr Fauci called DeSantis on his latest bs www.npr.org/2021/09/07/1034794180/fauci-desantis-vaccineThe Miami Herald called him out, too Your ‘personal choice’ not to get COVID vaccine is putting our ‘healthcare heroes’ at risk Read more here: www.miamiherald.com/opinion/editorials/article253954748.html#storylink=cpya few excerpts: Doesn’t impact anyone else? Talk about a profile in selfishness. Almost 46,000 have died of COVID in his state since the pandemic began. Too bad we can’t ask the thousands who have died since vaccines became available if they wished everyone around them had gotten vaccinated. Imagine the emotional toll — the feelings of powerlessness and frustration — for healthcare workers who are seeing people die day after day knowing so many of the deaths could have been prevented with a free, widely available shot. Somehow, DeSantis still has a 83% approval rating with Republicans.
