My School Board Meeting

What was the reason he police were there if they weren't going to do anything?  Wasn't their job to assist in keeping order?  Someone was assaulted and they did nothing? Fucking useless cops.

 This is so true!  What he unleashed is going to be near impossible to put back in the bottle.

I'm so very sorry you were subjected to that type of abuse as were your fellow group members.

As a grandparent of toddlers who can't get the vaccine, if my grandchildren get covid due to the selfish behaviors of vocal anti-maskers/antivaxxers, they have no idea what they will have unleashed. Grammie Bear will flip out on them. I suspect there will be many family members who will feel the same way I do.

There's a whole big chunk of humanity that I hate right now, and your story confirms that. 

I'm so sorry you had to experience this, but damn, big respect to you for standing up and speaking. It reminds me of something I read long ago that I try to live by: "Speak your truth, even if your voice shakes."  When I get angry my voice shakes and I sometimes end up crying, and I'm doing a whole lot more of that these days. But I won't be silenced, and I'm glad you won't either.  

Why the hell are they allowed to get away with that crap? Lock them up for public threats. Keep doing it! Good grief. I'm so sorry you had to experience that level of crazy.

Since last spring our school board has had security/police escort when at district events. They’ve been threatened and stalked. They’ve had people sit outside their homes protesting and following them. They’ve been told how to handle a gun shot by medical friends who are afraid for the boards safety. The threats keep escalating. But seems like as long as they are just threats nothing can be done.  

The anti everything side (because that’s what they’ve become) used to get all the speaking spots because they were willing to go in public when the safety concerned didn’t want to bc of Covid. This last meeting they turned the tables and managed to grab 12 of the 20 spots to speak. The anti side is screaming that it was rigged. There will be more lawsuits, I’m sure, bc the board voted to mask k-12. The anti side sued a number of times last spring. People are awful.

^^^ THIS.  I have heard story after story about this on the news, all over the country.  This is important to pay attention to, and so SCARY to think about.

I am so sorry that you had such a horrible experience, and that the police department did nothing when they acted the way they did.

This is some of what we are up against. Do you want this in charge of your school board, your town, your county-or, well, anything?

Thanks for standing up for the safety of young children. My district board meets tonight to address mask mandates. While I don’t think things will be this bad, I have my doubts about them instituting a mask mandate. What trump has done to this country is mind-boggling.

This makes me so angry!  Some people will always try the bully tactics because they are not capable of having an intelligent conversation.  Instead of voicing their concerns and reporting on statistics to try to sway the opposing side to their viewpoint, they make the whole thing so unpleasant in the hopes they win by volume and force.  

It is like a childish tantrum and should not be allowed.  Why is the Board permitting this behavior?  When our children acted like that, did we let them get away with it?  Of course not.  And we shouldn't allow the adults to either.  Anyone who yells out, causes a disruption, or threatens others needs to be escorted out of the room by the police.  If they refuse or escalate, arrest them for public disturbance.  If this is done each and every time, the childish behavior will eventually stop.  A Board meeting should have a respectful decorum.  You cannot conduct business in such an out of control environment.

I am proud of you for speaking, especially with such negative conditions.  If both sides yelled out and tried to drown out their opposition, what would ever be accomplished?  I am curious, did anyone from the safety side display any of this behavior?

I hate people right now.  I have never felt such hostility toward others.  I am normally so peaceful with a live-and-let-live attitude, but witnessing so many bullies pushing their way just evokes a burst of anger in me that I am so not comfortable with.  If I were attending your board meeting and was surrounded by these rabid people coughing on me, I would be pulling out my pepper spray and stun gun to keep them at a distance.  And sadly, their children are witnessing this behavior and will repeat it for generations to come. When will it ever end?

Maybe it is time to split the states into two separate countries so we can all live in peace.  I predict the "anti everything" masks, vaccines, and science, people will eventually die out from the delta strain before too long.  Until then, they can do away with all of the societal safety measures.  No seatbelts in their cars.  They can shop shirtless and shoeless.  Talk on their cell phones while driving.  No vaccines of any type - bring back polio, mumps, measles and all the harmful diseases.  They can be as free as they want to be until they are struck down by disease or fly through the windshield. Looks like we will be needing a big wall to separate the states from each other.

I have a feeling that once they are told they have no right or access to vaccines of any kind, or any of the safety or science-based items and information, they would riot over that too.

This is all so out of control and does not make sense to me.  And predominantly over a few inches of fabric worn as a courtesy to others as well as for self protection. 

Is it any wonder that I'm still on a self-enforced stay at home policy?

When DH and I were watching our local county commission discussing a masking order last week, I commented to him that it was interesting how all the anti-mask Quidiots were there to do their screaming in person (though they were kept in an anteroom from the commission and were effectively on a video feed), while nearly all of the pro-masking, pro-science public health advocates made their statements via zoom - many likely due to safety concerns. I'm thankful they still allow public comment by zoom and wish all other local governing bodies did as well.
