“You said some things in that video like 'We know who you are' and 'You’ll never be allowed in public again,' would you categorize that as a threat to that person?" News4’s Marissa Sulek asked Lunn in an exclusive interview with News4. “That is in no way a threat,” Lunn responded. “How would you explain your behavior in that video?” Sulek asked. “The reality is, it looks bad and I understand,” Lunn says. “But we aren’t being listened to. We’re just being told what to do.” Lunn says he got angry because parents who oppose the mask mandate weren’t being heard at the meeting. “Do you have kids in the school district at all?” News4 asked. “I don’t,” Lunn said. “I actually don’t have kids.” www.wsmv.com/news/only-on-4-williamson-county-schools-meeting-agitator-answers-questions-about-his-behavior/article_ffa44178-0144-11ec-ae85-3ff93b0fb119.htmlI'm guessing they're the same ilk who turned up at Tea Party rallies, Planned Parenthood clinics, etc. Agitators and bullies who "don't want to be told what to do" but want to tell everybody else what to do. You know what, in society, we are ALL told what to do in certain situations: how fast to drive, where to park, when we can drink in bars, how late we can be in a public park, which clothes we have to wear to get service in a safe and healthy way, etc. GROW THE F(#*$#($ UP!

I see the “they aren’t listening to us” comments all of the time from locals regarding masks, vaccine mandates for employers, and our recent equity audit. The thing is, they can’t seem to understand that just because they are loud, that there aren’t other people speaking besides them. And also, just because they didn’t get their way it doesn’t mean that people weren’t listening.

The 'Let Them Breathe' campaign, Informed Parents groups, and Liberty Coalitions pushes for anyone and everyone to show up.
We had them at my districts board meeting.
They lie, spread disinformation, and rile each other up. Disgusting humans.

“They aren’t listening to us” really means “We aren’t getting our way.”

“They aren’t listening to us” really means “We aren’t getting our way.” A bunch of man- and women-children. They remind me of the lies and insanities of the "death panels" from the Obamacare hearings and Town Halls. They think whoever yells loudest, wins. They live and breath ignorance, fear and lies.

As someone with no kids, this epic douchebag has no dog in this fight. He seriously needs to just STFU. I think the only people whose voices really matter in this situation are those people who are being directly impacted by the decisions of the school board, and in this case with kids and staff wearing masks, that would be limited to the families of students in that district, the teachers and other staff members (including bus drivers) who would be potentially be affected if there is an outbreak. This isn’t even an issue that affects taxpayers in any way.

crazy4scraps you are correct. In my area/state our property taxes go toward the schools, so all of us do have an interest in school issues. However that does not mean anyone should be allowed to disrupt the meeting, make threats and all the other stuff they are doing.

“They aren’t listening to us” really means “We aren’t getting our way.” This is spot-on. I am so sorry for all of you who are dealing with people like this specifically and school districts that can't/won't require masks.

Our board is supportive of our safety and equity policies, but the same several crazies keep showing up. They are 8 people, and we have 8000 families in our district. They do not speak for everyone.

We have had people who don't even live in the district and thus don't pay property taxes come to our meetings to complain about critical race theory and masks.

They are 8 people, and we have 8000 families in our district. Exactly. Just because they have a handful of yellers, they think their insanity trumps the reasoned information of the quieter families and the experts brought in to speak to the boards as well (docs, public health, etc.)

These poor school boards. I’ve seen the “Remember, they work for you” advice given to unhappy parents on this forum about teachers/principals. As a teacher, I bristled. Increasingly, we’re seeing an even more disturbing taxpayer entitlement at play (that, as with this poor wounded jamoke, seemingly isn’t extended to taxpayers with opposing views).
Just like the president or a city bus driver or a Supreme Court justice or a postal worker, school boards and staffs don’t have to give in to demands, however loud, just because their salaries are paid with tax money. And even the listening part doesn’t have to happen on demand or absent rules or civility.
Get off our damn lawns.

They had to be escorted by police to their cars after the last one. This is fucking ridiculous. I wish I could show up to their jobs and scream about how shitty they are at doing them.

We are having very much the opposite problem in my district right now. Parents are worried that masking won’t be enough and are concerned about the impossibility of distancing with full classes. They’re also upset that we’re not offering a campus teacher-led virtual option (virtual is very limited and will be done by central office staff).
Lots of schools in the district are so under-enrolled (due to parents withdrawing their kids over Covid concerns) that teachers are being pulled from them to teach in schools with vacancies. That sometimes results in a first grade teacher being reassigned to a fourth grade class in a school halfway across town. Nightmare time.

We have a man who turns up at nearly every meeting to rant about traditional values, CRT, rewriting of history etc etc... His child did graduate in the district..... about 20 years ago.

Our superintendent had a brief back to school call last week. The school board is voting on masks this week. They are holding the meeting by zoom. A lot of people said they wanted the meeting in person but they're doing it by zoom for a couple of reasons: our county has a lot of COVID right now, they're not going to put up with people screaming in other people's faces and they'll let people talk but for 3 min each but if they start screaming or threatening, they will be muted. Should be interesting to say the least.
