"More than 200 University of Virginia students who didn’t comply with the school’s COVID-19 vaccine requirement have been disenrolled ahead of the fall semester. The Virginian-Pilot reports that the school disenrolled 238 students, including 49 who were enrolled in fall courses. University spokesperson Brian Coy says that may mean that “a good number” of the remaining students “may not have been planning to return to the University this fall at all.” Coy says the students were disenrolled after “receiving multiple reminders via email, text, phone calls, calls to parents that they were out of compliance.” They can re-enroll if they comply with the vaccine requirement or file an exemption by Wednesday." www.nbc12.com/2021/08/20/uva-students-who-didnt-meet-vaccine-mandate-disenrolled/That means about 97% of the students are vaxxed. So unvaccinated students can’t attend school period but unvaccinated faculty and staff are only required to wear a mask and be tested weekly. If it’s mandatory it should apply to everyone on campus, not just students.

Great! Would love to see more vaccine requirements on college campuses. I am so grateful my DD's university is requiring the vax. They are also requring masks indoors, no matter the status. I'm still worried/anxious, but hoping she has a more normal year. |

I'm still worried/anxious, but hoping she has a more normal year. Ds' university is mandating masks, but not the vaccine. He isnt on campus this semester due to his final fieldwork before graduation- which is at a large umiversity hospital. |

DS's school isn’t requiring vaccinations, because of state law. However everyone has to wear masks and students who don’t produce proof of vaccination are subject to more stringent testing than those who are.

Go UVA! I love this! They really care about their students and want a normal year.
My daughter's university is strict about vaccines too. They are mandatory and the students had to receive their second dose by Aug. 2nd. I am so happy she will be in college as she will be so much safer there than her stupid high school that isn't even requiring vaccines or masks (because the school board agreed with parents that masks don't work and that you can't breathe with a mask on).

many of our universities are requiring it, one by one. DD's university has said it is required, or proof of a negative test if refusing to disclose vaccination status. i assume (hope) that is daily??
i saw one university has concerns about international students and what vaccine they have had... not sure how that is gonna play out.
city of toronto just announced it is required for all their employees last week and right after that toronto transit commission announced the same (although union is "concerned" and opposes the mandate). more and more banks and private companies are each day. i think everyone was hoping to avoid this - but now their hand is being forced.
