Consuming media that specializes in whataboutism - from any political ideology - that is presented either without context or without truth will result in getting more of that type of media from an internet search. We all have a hand in our own forum reputations. Even if you’re honestly unaware that what you post is frequently objectively false, it still contributes to your reputation. |

My daughter moved into her dorm last week. On the same day she moved in, it was announced that all students involved in sports, living on campus, or working on campus had to be vaccinated. All workers must be vaccinated. They have until Sept 8 to show their vaccination status. If they aren't vaccinated they will be tested weekly. Masks are required for everyone on campus. It'll be interesting to see if eventually all students will need to be vaccinated. This is a very positive step. I've been worrying about her getting a breakthrough case while living in the dorm.
They had an on campus vaccination event over the weekend that was held during the activities fair. My daughter overheard a worker telling a student they only had 6 vaccinations left, so it would appear that students are taking care of it.

For my one son going back in September, all students, faculty, and staff have to provide proof of two shots or they aren’t allowed on campus. There are exemptions but those exempt will have to be tested before being allowed access to campus.
My other son’s university requires a “self-declaration” which is next to useless but he’s starting a co-op work term so he won’t be back on campus until January.

All the people I know - and some of them are right-wing FOX watchers - support this decision by UVA 100%.
And even though these friends have MANY political views I abhor, and I hate the FOX news bites they repeat at times, all of them have gotten the vaccines, had all their family members get the vaccines, and have no patience for anti-vax idiots and their nonsense.

Good! The entire University of Maryland system (which is pretty large) has mandated vaccines for all students and staff. If you get an exemption (which apparently isn't easy to get) then you have to be tested twice a week. If you miss a testing, bye-bye! No recourse.

My oldest attends University of Toronto and they have mandated it as well I believe. She's been online for her entire first year of this Masters, so heading to the city for her final year will be a new thing, but she's glad for the mandate.
Haven't heard from my son's college in Niagara yet, but he's been in the brew lab 2-3 days a week already anyway in small groups. And he's done in December.
The University of Guelph here has mandated it as well, and some people are losing their shit over it.
I'm done with selfish people.
