Hon, you and Gary are in my thoughts. I don't know how you do it, except I know that it's amazing what we can do when we don't really have a choice. I'm on FB often if you need to chat. Will be flying home redeye tomorrow night finally, but other than that I'm usually online. Wish I could give you the big IRL hug you must need.

I'm so sorry to hear this. This all sounds so overwhelming. Please take time for yourself, even if it's just 5 minutes doing deep breathing exercises to de-stress. Are there any supports available to you? Like volunteer programs? Where I am, there are programs available to help with driving people to appointments etc.Maybe churches in your area (help with getting groceries delivered?) You just have so much on your shoulders. {{{HUGS}}} Thank you. I consider my sleep at night with my kitty my "self care", really. I shut the door and get great sleep and relax with him.
No support groups that I have found. This is considered a "rural" area (despite the constant building of houses and apartment complexes!). Last year the Social Worker at Moffitt tried her best but came up with nothing as far as transportation. They said that we were "too close"; only a few miles too close! They don't consider my vision and limitations. Last night was a nightmare for me. My windshield had all sticky stuff on it (sap?) and it was like driving without my glasses coming home from the hospital with DH at 2 am! I gripped the steering wheel and tried my best! I'm out of windshield wiper fluid. Figures. There are no full-serve carwashes here either, and I'm too short to finish the windows on my own. (Sorry, I'm venting again!!). I'll try to clean the windshield within 12 hours (our next venture to Moffitt for DH's bone biopsy).
I haven't checked with churches near here. My neighbor (who is moving) prays for Gary a lot, but she said they don't do more than that at her church. Honestly, I haven't had a minute to go to a church in years, and they do want you to be a parish member at our Catholic Church here (I called a few years ago). Not sure when that will happen.
DH came thisclose to joining the local Vet's Hall, but then had an ICU stay. We're always getting sidetracked with medical emergencies.....
I took DH to Moffitt urgent care yesterday morning. He couldn't stand up. His knee hurt (it was cellulitis--localized--no sepsis). We were there for almost 9 hours before he was seen. When he got a room (which was GORGEOUS), it felt like we were in a nice hotel room, so I breathed a sigh of relief......... Those are the breaks we get and I can't complain, ever. I see what other patients at Moffitt are dealing with.
Thank you for your suggestions. xo

Have you contacted your county's Office of the Aging??? They have a ton of services etc including transportation (volunteers in the community). www.pascocountyfl.net/366/Senior-Services

christine58 : Thank you so much for thinking of us and sharing that link. We've met with SHINE in the past and they've given us the Pasco info. In the 10 years we've been living here, DH has never been able to get meals delivered. Here's what they say: How long does it take to get meals? Because we must do a home visit and schedule you on a route, it may take two to three weeks from the time you make the initial call to apply for meals to your first day of delivery. There is currently a waiting list for the meals program. To have your name added to the list contact us at (727) 834-3340 or send us a question via our online Customer Service Center. (THERE IS **ALWAYS** A "WAITING LIST"). I did email them. I'll see what happens. Thank you so much, and thanks to all the Peas who sent beautiful handmade cards and gifts to us. I promise to get back to everyone as soon as I can! DH (Gary) had his bone biopsy yesterday and it went well, thanks to the pain meds he's on for his knee infection! I'm super-busy watching over him this weekend, but I'll be back on asap. xo Chris
