Welcome to SKETCHtember! Here is our first sketch, which I picked up from the ScrapHappy site. This was their August sketch.
And the TWIST is: In the Beginning. To meet this twist, do a first page in an album, the first of a series of cards, the first of something. OR, scrap about a beginning: first day of school, a new baby, first steps, a wedding, first job, or first day back at work in person...
For my sample, I put together the first page of my fall 2021 album.
You do not need to be on a team to play, but if you ARE looking for points... Take TWO points for using the sketch. Take ONE point for taking on the "beginning" twist. Take a BONUS of FIVE points for doing BOTH on one project.
Okay, we are off and running. Have fun! Oh, and take a look at the SKETCHtember Challenge thread to find out about the possibility of winning PRIZES!
ETA points: one page created & shared (2). SKETCHtember sketch + twist+ bonus (8), R-3 one photo (1) and one page (5) for Donna challenge, P-3 five pp's (5), P-4 sunflowers (1), P-6 six scraps (6), P-7 papers are a couple of years old (1), S/I-2 rectangular photo (1), T-1 diecut circle (1), T-6 inked, torn edges (2), W/T-7 strip journaling (2), Th-4 outdoors (1), Th-5 love my garden (1). Total: 37

grammadee - love the sketch! Your layout is so pretty, orange is my go to color for scrapping and this is just perfect! AussieMeg - the colors you chose just make the photo pop! Love the little sprinkling of those circle embellishments, it adds the perfect touch.

My sketch. The first day back after a 14 month hiatus. Usually I try to photograph outside, but it is Ida-ing down out there. I might type the text words and re-do them. I might add a journal block of personal details.

Yay sketchtember! Picture is kind of wonky since it’s wood grain paper on my wooden desk 😂probably a stretch to count the twist. This was after the tennis season awards, but it was her first varsity letter.

schroema First varsity letters totally count! I LOVE that the banner says "tennis", and the large g and the shooting star and the message to shine like a star ... love!

Really cool page, schroema! First varsity letter definitely counts! Love how you made the circle smaller and added the clusters. And the dramatic colour scheme makes the whole LO pop.

probably a stretch to count the twist. This was after the tennis season awards, but it was her first varsity letter. I like the way you think!! I was so excited about the first sketch of the month that I didn't give much thought to the twist. My LO is about my son's first (and only!!) individual cricket trophy, the "Coach's Award". This particular award is usually given to kids who are great team members but not good enough players to win the B&F (MVP) awards hahaha. And when they handed out the award to my son they made mention that he was always first to training (practice), and never missed training. Well the only reason for that is because DSO is always early and would help out every week, so my son had no choice but to be there early and every week hahaha! Maybe I should include that on some hidden journaling.

AussieMeg I've left love in the gallery. jjpeapea I love all the soft tones with that pop of colour in the photo mat. Great take on the sketch. schroema congrats to your daughter! That tennis paper is perfect for the banner, and I love all the positive messages in your embellishments. Linda great job scaling this down for the smaller page size. I love that pink and green combo and how perfect that gnome is for this story.

claiming the twist for the beginning of my tomato garden... I am hoping to soon see the END of mine! Tons of tomatoes out there that need to be picked. Then I will need to DO something with them as they ripen...
But this is an awesome take on the sketch in the different format. Great colour combo and a nice balance between large and small patterns. And you knew I would love that little garden gnome!

Here's my version. It's not a great scan as the button on top of the bow is pretty chunky and my scanner does not cope well with random bulky things.

Everyone is knocking this one out of the park! I'm loving them all. Each one is so different - I'm always amazed that we can do such different things with the same layout! For mine, I wanted to scrap the twins first day of school (for the twist too). Since there are TWO, I did two layouts. (Doing a scrapbook for each grandchild) I liked that I could use the same papers (PhotoPlay Real Genius) and just turn them over and use both sides. I think I only used two sheets of patterned paper altogether. On to the next challenge!

Love how you flipped the sketch, Chinagirl828, and used those soft colours. Very elegant: perfect for the queen in the portrait. And WOW, MDscrapaholic! That is efficient use of paper! And what beautiful results! You should be running a series like Sheetload of Cards, except for pages...

Sketchtember #1 by scrappy rabbit, on Flickr Does “first thing I do in the morning” count for the twist? 😜 It was also the first day of a weekend getaway.

Love the sketch, and stretched a bit to make a two pager:
All the patterned paper is busy, so I decided that embellies would distract from the design.

MDscrapaholic I love how you swapped the vertical strip for the school themed embellishments on your DGS's page, and I definitely want to try layering the banners like you did on your DGD's page. Great takes on the sketch. I've left love for everyone else in the gallery.

That two pager you created with this sketch is AWESOME, angel97701. I like the way you converted the one photo for the sketch into a photo block of three. Great colours. And speaking of colours and adaptations, your grad page is beautiful, nylene. Thanks for playing along with this sketch. I hope to get to Flickr in the next few days to look at these pages in more detail
