Does anyone know if there is going to be a card swap this year? I don't want to miss out on signing up!

After the drama last year, the organizer of the card swap left the peas. I don’t remember if an active pea stepped in to facilitate or not.

The 2nd swap has a limited participation cap. If anyone is interested in doing the large swap again this year I’ll volunteer to set up the list if nobody else is set on organizing it.
It’s my major crafty event of the year making Christmas cards, so I prefer the unlimited participant option.

I was in the second swap. I liked the capped number because it was more manageable for me.

(Maybe it was that you did t have to include your real name?) Last year was my first year at it and I loved every card I received.

The last email “leowife” sent in early January, she mentioned she would be keeping the card swap email list going and remind us as we got closer to sign-up time for Christmas 2021. I just emailed her. 115 Days until Christmas !!!!!

Hi Girls Regarding the second card exchange, I am planning on organizing it again this year. gemini_jen and I peamailed a week or two ago and she is still planning on doing the spreadsheet collecting and sharing of info (thank you so much). I'm looking forward to it...I hope you are too! As a FYI: this is the "no-rule" swap. Aka: rules were made by the participants, not me. All Jen and I are responsible for is getting the details together. I think we had 55-ish participants last year. For those who participated in this smaller card exchange last year, check the email that you used to sign up last year in a couple of weeks. We'll send something out to give you all first crack at joining in again. Once we know how many want to continue again this year, we'll then open it up for others to sign up and fill in any remaining spots. The exchange will be capped at 60 Peas total. So, if you know you're going to participate in the smaller exchange again....plan on less than 60 participants and start getting your supplies and stamps together! More detailed info in the next couple of weeks. HO HO HO!

Also, admin and/or grammadee, would you consider pinning this thread until actual card exchange info is posted? That way if any other early birds are looking for info, it'll be easy to find. Thank you!

You could use just your pea name if that made you feel more comfortable. P.O boxes were also allowed. *forgive me if I am wrong that it wasn't with the other swap*

Last year's thread should have the specific info if you feel like poking into that. I used the words "card exchange" (rather than card swap) in the title so that it would be easy-ish to search for. It will essentially be a copy/paste of what we did last year since it worked so well.

I did ones years ago on 2peas more than 10 years ago. I think you could send as many as you wanted but only had to send at least 10 or something like that but could send more if you wanted. In the smaller group did you send to all? Thinking it would be fun but I don’t want to commit to 60.
Also are these handmade cards? Assuming so but want to confirm.

Hey girls! This is the link to last year's HOLIDAY CARD EXCHANGE. It will answer any questions anyone can think of See my posts above about this year's exchange. Essentially, we're not there yet but will be later in the month/early next month. Remember: this is not the original big card swap.

You can send out as many or as few as you so desire.

It was a no rules swap after the kerfuffle with the big swap. Those who wanted more control participated in the big swap, those who wanted no rules participated in the second swap. Each group organizer set their own rules (or didn’t set any rules!)

The original Christmas Card “Swap” didn’t care if you sent homemade or store bought. You also were not required to send to everyone on the list. Just have a good time. One particular person didn’t like the idea of giving your real name or maybe is was a real address vs a PO Box; i really don’t remember. She started her own Christmas Card “Exchange”.

There were many of us. I was one of them who wasn't happy with the changes to the original exchange that I had previously participated in - needing to use real name, needing to use home address not P.O. box, etc. I also wasn't cool with being called out because I didn't send one year. If a person is afraid of their safety, others who participated in the past shouldn't have to change what they k ew and liked for 1 person. 🤷♀️

In fairness, more than one person indicated they would participate if peanames and PO Box could be used. And I don't think it was one of those that offered to coordinate an alternate exchange.

Since I'm the one who offered to organize the card exchange last year, I assume you've directed this at me? If so, you are sadly mistaken. I don't believe I've ever said a peep about how the original card swap was run. If I'm wrong, would you kindly link what I posted? Thanks. And actually, another pea got the ball rolling about starting a second, card exchange. I just rolled with it when she decided she didn't want to organize it after all. ETA: thinking back, I did not agree with how politicized the original swap became. And that was 2000% on the head of that organizer. No one else. Other people expressed frustration about her rules about no pea names and no PO boxes. I most definitely was not the cause of the newer card exchange. Don't come here to poop on a good thing yet AGAIN this year. Ok? ok.

To be fair that's not exactly how that happened. The Christmas card exchange (it was never a "Swap") was started many years ago on the old board. There were to be as few rules as possible. Somewhere down the line Leowife took over sending out the list. Each year she tried to add more rules. Like you had to send out a least 10 cards and other such stuff that went against the spirt of the way the original exchange was started. A lot of peas were "unhappy" about that.

This is NOT what went down. Leowife decided to make her own rules and lie about the reason for making such rules. Nice try on rewriting history.

One more thing, then I'm off this thread because I am annoyed. Love doing a nice thing and being pooped upon. This LINK should take anyone who is interested to all of the card swap threads over the last 13 months. Each thread with "deleted" as the OP, was created by LEO. The card exchage thread from last years is linked in one of my previous posts on this thread. This should clear up any revisions of pea history. And I'm owed an apology.
