I'm still open to organizing a no limit exchange. I personally don't care if you use your real name or peaname or a PO Box. I don't care if you sign up and never send one card. I don't care if you send the cheapest Dollar General cards you can find. I do care if you send hate mail to participants, but that's not controllable by anyone here and an unfortunate possibility on the www. I'm looking for homes for the cards I make and reason to make them. I know Leowife has left the board and if there is no other pea that is just dying to organize it, I will.

The original Christmas Card “Swap” didn’t care if you sent homemade or store bought. You also were not required to send to everyone on the list. Just have a good time. One particular person didn’t like the idea of giving your real name or maybe is was a real address vs a PO Box; i really don’t remember. She started her own Christmas Card “Exchange”. Not true mnmloveli . What’s not true christine58 ? You were even planning on being in the swap and stood-up for leowife. Then you did change your mind and went with the exchange.  Maybe it was the addition of the no political cards?  Sorry christine58, I don’t remember. |

I have done the Christmas card swap for at least the last 15 or so years both here and on the old board. Last year was the first year there was any exceptions to the requirements and a second swap started. I have kep all the cards from all the swaps and have over 1500 cards! If Leowife does not come back to do it this year, I will happily do it!

I have really enjoyed past years exchange. Last year was the hardest. I lost my husband to covid that September, so your cards helped.

When did it change to not include PO Boxes? I did the card exchange for quite a few years (stopped a couple of years ago, I think) and I only have a PO Box.
Not everyone lives in an area where the post office will deliver mail.

Leowife would NOT budge when someone asked if they could use their peaname. That person had some good points and I changed my position on it to be honest. Like who cares if you don't give your real name??? Leowife insinuated that she got some nasty cards about cops and also said that there were some peas who 'kept track' of the cards they got. They then compared notes and said that there were a couple peas who got cards and never sent one out. Not sure how they determined that...those peas were not allowed to join in future years. That's when I decided I was out of that group. Something simple done to bring some joy turned into people being upset. A couple peas offered to start a different card exchange and MichyM stepped up to gather the names etc. Oh and I kept the messages Leowife sent me when I asked why people could not just use their peaname. I'd gladly share them.. |

I seem to recall that there was some discussion about PO boxes, but then they were deemed acceptable. And really, how would anyone know if you made up a “real” name?I could have joined as Michelle Smith and no one would have known it wasn’t my real name. But then the second swap was started and I liked the inclusive tone of it, so I joined that one. |

OMFG! I thought this was dead and buried. I believe I started this controversy because I could not see how asking to use my Peaname and P.O. Box could lead to the apocalypse. leowife decided to ignore my inquiries and insisted on rules that made no sense to me and made me feel uneasy, so I did the one drama thread in my 2Peas history. MichyM kindly stepped up to organize the less rigid swap, I sent out crappily executed cards, and received amazingly professionally-done cards from other Peas, we all had a great time…and the world is still turning. The End. Not sure if I will do it this year-I am intimidated by everyone’s mad skillz. 😊

I did ones years ago on 2peas more than 10 years ago. I think you could send as many as you wanted but only had to send at least 10 or something like that but could send more if you wanted. In the smaller group did you send to all? Thinking it would be fun but I don’t want to commit to 60. Also are these handmade cards? Assuming so but want to confirm. Since I'm the one who offered to organize the card exchange last year, I assume you've directed this at me? If so, you are sadly mistaken. I don't believe I've ever said a peep about how the original card swap was run. If I'm wrong, would you kindly link what I posted? Thanks. And actually, another pea got the ball rolling about starting a second, card exchange. I just rolled with it when she decided she didn't want to organize it after all. ETA: thinking back, I did not agree with how politicized the original swap became. And that was 2000% on the head of that organizer. No one else. Other people expressed frustration about her rules about no pea names and no PO boxes. I most definitely was not the cause of the newer card exchange. In my 21 years a pea, I don’t think I’ve ever been the “target” of another pea. So, I suppose it was time <shrug>. I don’t tit-for-tat. I made a rule a long time ago to avoid arguing online. I’ll state what I have to say and move along.
Mmmloveli, thank you for posting my concerns about how LEO was running her (and yes, it was clearly HER) card swap. I asked if she’d consider dropping a rule that I believed to be wholly unnecessary. She refused. I dropped out, and publicly shared why. I was very disappointed. As for many of us, last year was a horrendous year, and I had been looking forward to the swap in a big way. I’m not sure what you seem to think that you’ve proven by sharing 2 posts of mine from over year ago. I stand behind my feelings, reactions, and what I’ve posted in the past (whether it be about a card swap or another topic) 100%.
As to how the new and smaller card exchange was set up, another pea started a thread about starting a second swap that would be far more laid back. The thread (surprise surprise) got filled with negativity, and via peamail she shared that she decided she didn’t need the headache and would not organize it after all (that thread should be included in that page of card swap threads I linked upthread). So, I stepped in. That is the sum of all parts.
Second. You seem to have issue in how I quoted you earlier in the thread. I often quote only the relevant part of a post when replying without giving it a thought. There is nothing nefarious there, no matter how hard you want to believe otherwise. And in fact, another pea upthread also quoted part of what you said, and you have no issue with her doing so.
Lastly, and I’m going to attempt to say this kindly, but I doubt you’ll feel that it is. As far as I can recall, you and I have never interacted with one another. If we have, I’ve totally forgotten (my apologies). Based on your posts to this thread, it appears to me that you’ve harbored ill-will towards me for over a year, and that you’ve been waiting patiently for the moment to “pounce.” Meanwhile, sometime last fall I put your account on mute when I realize how in lock-step with LEO you were. I only see a post of yours occasionally, and only when I am curious enough to know what a blocked pea (you could be one of a half dozen blocked peas) has to say. I don’t get notifications from you (or anyone I’ve blocked) so if you’ve tagged or quoted me before, or spoken ill of me, I have not seen it/them.
Anyhow, my point is (again, said in the nicest way possible), I haven’t given you a thought in about a year. Meanwhile in tht tiime, you’ve apparently allowed the ill-will you harbor to form into full-on resentment directed at me, and have been waiting to “put me in my place.” It is not a good look. Full stop.
Thank you to those of you who have “had my back” regarding these ridiculous posts. It’s a shame that it came to that, but appreciate your posts more than you know.
