I hate it when threads go sideways like this. My wee pea heart breaks.
This thread should be spreading joy!

I didn’t do the big swap last year (but had in previous years) because of the nastiness from Leo. I didn’t really care about my name being out there (many peas know me and are friends on FB). But I detested the nastiness that was being dumped. So if did the smaller swap and had a fabulous time. This year I plan on doing both (assuming the nastiness left with Leo). She is running it off the board according to a post here.

I was thinking if lisacharlotte hosted, I would join.

The 2nd swap has a limited participation cap. If anyone is interested in doing the large swap again this year I’ll volunteer to set up the list if nobody else is set on organizing it. It’s my major crafty event of the year making Christmas cards, so I prefer the unlimited participant option. Thank you for volunteering to organize it! I look forward to the swap every year!

Poor kittens . She's going to eventually come back to this thread and think "I just asked a simple question!" I pictured her reading it all and thinking “Uh oh!! 😯” Lol! You are both right! I was just reading the posts and said "oh my!" I didn't mean to cause such trouble! I just wanted to be sure I didn't miss signing up ! I enjoy making cards and look forward to exchanging with you all! I'm so sorry my question "stirred the pot!" It definitely wasn't intentional!

Yes, LEO plans to run an off board exchange, but that only works for those that participated last year. So, in the spirit of the more the merrier and MORE is MORE!!! I will organize the UNLIMITED sign ups exchange. All are welcome, no rules, not one. We're all adults (I think) and we can decide if we want to spread the spirit of whatever holiday you want to celebrate this winter or be a bah humbugger ( sleepingbooty, TWO Gs!). I'll set up a gmail for the address submissions. I'm going old school with regular ol' mail me your name (I don't care what name you use) address (PO Boxes are fine) and I'll create a spreadsheet and send both in spreadsheet form and label form. Also, postage went up on August 29th. A first class stamp is $0.58 (additional ounce or non-machinable is still $0.20) and global forever stamp is $1.30. For our international peas, if you are uncomfortable signing up because your postage costs are too high to send to a lot of peas, I hope you will sign up anyway. I would love to use up my global stamps this year. I'm sure I speak for the majority of peas that participate, we would love to send you cards. It's the giving, not the receiving. I'll start a new thread tomorrow for the Unlimited Card Exchange with a gmail to send your info. First week of October I'll send out the spreadsheet for participants to check that their information is correct and catch anyone who didn't sign up that wants to. Merry Happy Holidays!

lisacharlotte yay! Thanks so much ! I am looking forward to this! And I do hope the international peas sign up too! I already have my stamps! I got them just before the prices went up!

Thank you to those hosting both of the no rules exchanges. I’ve never participated but always wanted to and last year I finally got myself a PO Box just in time to find out I had to use my real name so I didn’t sign up. All that drama was so disappointing but I’m going to sign up this year!

Hi Girls Regarding the second card exchange, I am planning on organizing it again this year. gemini_jen and I peamailed a week or two ago and she is still planning on doing the spreadsheet collecting and sharing of info (thank you so much). I'm looking forward to it...I hope you are too! As a FYI: this is the "no-rule" swap. Aka: rules were made by the participants, not me. All Jen and I are responsible for is getting the details together. I think we had 55-ish participants last year. For those who participated in this smaller card exchange last year, check the email that you used to sign up last year in a couple of weeks. We'll send something out to give you all first crack at joining in again. Once we know how many want to continue again this year, we'll then open it up for others to sign up and fill in any remaining spots. The exchange will be capped at 60 Peas total. So, if you know you're going to participate in the smaller exchange again....plan on less than 60 participants and start getting your supplies and stamps together! More detailed info in the next couple of weeks. HO HO HO! Yay! For those who did not participate one thing we did differently was you didn't have to put your real name. You could use just your pea name if that made you feel more comfortable. P.O boxes were also allowed. *forgive me if I am wrong that it wasn't with the other swap* I have a PO BOX because I am rural and that's what they give us for those living in town. I have done the big swap before using my PO BOX and putting the street address in with no problem (local post office wants us to use both). I don't know all that went down last year in the big group but I find it odd if PO BOX numbers suddenly became a problem. Some people don't have a choice in the matter.

I just want to thank those who are going to organize both swaps. I like the option for the limited swap because I was able to send a card to everyone last year. I couldn't do that in the bigger one and even though it wasn't expected, it just made me feel sad I couldn't. I know, I'm weird. I've got ideas for this years already!

The first card swap I participated in was in 2001. Rules were fairly simple. We emailed our pea name (required) and real name (optional). We had to be in good standing with the board(no periods of being banned by the administrators) in the past, a member of the board for at least 12 months, and at least 25 posts, although there were some who wanted 50 posts. There were some who wanted participants to have partipated in at least one swap on the swap board but every felt that was voted out. It didn’t matter if it was a PO Box or regular address, some peas used their work address. You could use either hand made or bought cards. You needed to indicate whether you would mail out of the country or not. Postcards were not allowed. It was asked that you share cards received on the board. It was also asked but not required that you sign the cards with your real name and pea name. There was a deadline to mail by the 15th of December but it didn’t matter if you missed the deadline, no one got pissed it they got a late card. We got cards wishing us a happy New Years from late senders! You could send as many cards as you wanted, one or two or fifty or for everyone. It was pretty thrilling to receive so many cards. The first year I received over 250 cards! I sent around 270, some hand made, some bought, started sending after thanksgiving and right up through Christmas.no drama. This was pretty much drama free thru last year. As it should be!

To the peas who participated in last year's smaller card exchange, please check the email you used for sign up as there is a question that needs your reply. Thank you ETA: And check your spam folder per Tracy's post below. The email was sent from a yahoo acccount, and I think some filters don't like group emails coming from Yahoo!

Not sure if I will do it this year-I am intimidated by everyone’s mad skillz. 😊 Please participate! Some of us like to do elaborate cards but still appreciate the cards that are simple(y) beautiful. Sometimes less is more. Don't be intimidated.

She must be here reading the posts. Without looking I seem to remember she said she received an email asking if the exchange was on again this year. She had said at the beginning of the year she planned on doing the exchange this year. I’m glad she is, I stopped posting last year because I was tired of the large amount of negative posts. A friend mentioned that they prefer to not include negative people in her social activities so they don’t bring the group down. I thought about it and have had less stress doing the same. I have to say, I look forward to swapping cards with you each year and truly appreciate that you also enjoy the card exchange and you do not bring politics into it. Thank you!

Oh my freaking gosh I am losing count. How many card swaps or card exhanges will that make this year? What group is which? I am so confused!
Look, I've been participating in the original card exchange from the Two Peas board for at least the past 8 or so years. We never had a problem until last year when all of this ruckus started (I'm not getting into who did what) and one person from the board decided to start their own card exchange which didn't require your real name or a P.O. Box number. I decided to stay with the original one since that's what I started with and had been with for years.
Leowife emailed my yesterday and said she was going to head up the original card exchange this year-which by the way, is what she said last year when she left the board.
So as far as I know there are now 2 card exchanges for this year
1. The first, original card exchange hosted by Leowife again this year. (Let's call these folks group A)
2. The same group who started their own card exchange last year and said their rules were you didn't have to use your real name and you could use a P.O. box number. (Let's call this group B).
Anyone else?

As for Leowife running one off this board of only members from last years with all her rules etc…. Weird that you’d host one when you left here. Just saying.

birukitty I offered to coordinate the original unlimited sign ups card exchange this year. Yes, Leowife is continuing the list from last year, but that doesn't give peas on this board a chance to participate if they didn't participate in either exchange last year. So, technically, there are two exchanges being hosted by the 2peas board, the unlimited one and the scaled down 60 cap. I have started a thread on NSBR for the Unlimited Exchange and the email to sign up is 2peasholiday@gmail.com If you also continue with the list from last year that Leowife is hosting, there will probably be a lot of overlap between this one and that one.

I forgot about that being a problem with the old list. Let's call yours Group C. What I was hoping for was to allow anyone who was new to be able to join whatever group they wanted. This means for now only groups B and C provide that. What I was also hoping was to avoid overlapping groups and confusion. I'm sure we will figure out what is best for everyone within the next few days. I was also hoping to avoid hurt feelings, name calling and people calling each other out with the "she said" vs "she said" business. This is about organizing a Christmas card exchange my goodness! Please remember that folks. I've been part of the first, original card exchange for at least the past 7-8 years and I have loved every single year that I've participated. I felt so loyalty about continuing with the original one because of that. But I also want to be part of an exchange that will allow new members to participate too.

It’s not wrong to participate in that swap of that’s what you want to do. But I think there are only two “official” Pea swaps—group B and group C, by your labels.

Since Leo isn’t a pea anymore - by her own choosing- then it isn’t possible that she is hosting a Pea card exchange. A more appropriate name would be ‘card swap hosted by a former Pea who decided she didn’t like the board anymore’. And FWIW - I think it’s weird that someone who is no longer a Pea is contacting members off the board. But that’s just me.

I was part of that original group but when I got leowife's email last week I replied and asked her to remove me from the list. I'm not even considering that a valid holiday card exchange on this board any longer. If there are those who want to continue doing it then so be it but to me there's only two valid groups.

birukitty the peas have spoken and want multiple options for their exchange/swap. The only thing I can control, is to give the peas an unlimited option to sign up for, here, on the board. Since Leowife is no longer on this board, the swap she is continuing is not going to be arranged in this space. Also, the smaller exchange meets the needs of those who do not want to participate in a unlimited version. You'll have to decide how you want to proceed. We are doing our best to give the peas options that work for them.
