Hello and welcome to September and SKETCHTEMBER cycworker, Chinagirl828, Linda, katiekaty, nylene, kellyr21, angel97701, psiluvu, Ryann, craftymom101, scrappymeg, jediannie! My favorite month around here! I see some new team players yay! If you have any questions, don't hesitate to ask, and tell us a little about yourself as well! This is our spot to chat this month, and see what everyone is up to. I've got a 3 day in person crop next weekend. I'm excited and also feeling a little trepidation about it given the rise in covid cases here. But I'm going and keeping my fingers crossed. I've got all of those pages planned and I'm excited to try and keep up with Sketchtember as best I can. I'm a mom to two boys, nana to one boy and fur mom to my cat Abby (I had to get a girl somehow lol) I'm coming off a long stretch of no mojo due to how busy my job has been. But that's getting better and I'm looking forward to scrapping this month! Anyone going to try and do every sketch? Are you going to be using the sketches for a particular album, or to tell random stories that spark your interest? I will be telling random stories and I love the prompt that grammadee included with today's sketch. I have two stories I want to tell about beginnings. Here's to a fun, creative month!

yay - it's Sketchtember again!!! I plan to do every sketch - we'll see if I manage. Currrently working on May-August layouts from this year but I'm not against grabbing different photos if they fit a sketch better. joyfulnana - enjoy your crop! I'm glad that your creativity is back. For those who don't know me - I'm Linda, a married, stay at home mum. I have three kids - one in the Navy, one doing college online from home and moving out in a few months to live with her brother, and one in high school. I also have six cats - two of whom are recently acquired kittens, the other 4 are senior cats.

Glad to see some "newbies" playing this month! Tell us a little about yourself. I am a wife of 53 years, a mom of 4 adult "kids", gramma to eleven dgk's who have become the focus of most of my scrapbooking. I live on a farm in NE Alberta, and when I am not scrapbooking, or spending time with the dgk's taking pic's and collecting stories to scrap, this time of the year I am harvesting and preserving garden veggies. It is now zucchini cake season... Good to hear you will be playing tomorrow, katiekaty . I hope to have a bit of time to play with paper in the morning. Hope everyone has a fun and productive SKETCHtember!
ETA like the bumbling old woman that I am, I came stumbling in here by mistake... Nice to meet you all, and definitely hope you have a good month, but I am on the other team! Sorry, joyfulnana. Won't come back to spy, I promise...

Hello team! I am just crazy enough to want to complete all of the sketches. So far, the first year is the only year I've successfully done them all, but I've been scrapping more lately and I'm hoping that will get me over the line.
A little about me: I'm married to a DH who has taken well to my love of traveling which is mostly what I scrap about, and have one furbaby (cat) who is the centre of our household and knows it.
I can see the first two sketches are up already so I'm off to see what I create.

Hello to everyone and welcome to Sketchtember too! Don't forget to check out the organization thread.
I am hoping to give a go at every sketch, but you know me . . . I might stretch it to a double page layout like the first sketch that is in progress on my desk. It was the only one that could also be a "beginnings" story. I am getting caught up on all the chores with the repairs that are being done on our home. With DS starting school next week I "hope" to have more time to craft!
I am married to an incredibly smart and supportive husband for almost 17 years. He has a daughter who is 25, living in her own home and is an ICU nurse in the Seattle area. We have two adopted sons from Russia. Sadly our older son is off track. Our younger son has FASD. Covid was very hard on our family due to the extra stressors and the childhood PTSD that both our boys deal with daily. We live on 6 acres in the High Desert of Central Oregon. I have a huge garden, and am waiting for tomatoes to ripen. I've harvested spinach, peas, lettuce, kale, and a little bit of corn. Beans didn't make it this year due to the varmits and heat. The spaghetti squash isn't happy either. Oh well, it's hit and miss with our weather. We can have very late frosts (not this season) and early frosts. I had ice on my irrigation line this morning and a few of my tomato leaves were damaged. The cucumbers outside didn't fair well either. I have a greenhouse (new last year) and have new starts in there for the fall. Potatoes and carrots round out the garden space along with a few misc. herbs. We also have two Black Angus steer pastured until their Oct. butcher date. Add to that 4 German Shepherds, two with old dog syndrome, Sable girl is 13 today, Charlie is 11, Athena (the pillow eater with a huge vet bill this summer) is 9, and Artemis is 4. One indoor kitty, Coconut. She is white and would be coyote or hawk food if she went outside.
I am a substitute teacher usually high school, but have not worked a great deal during Covid due to the supervision needs of my son. He is high functioning, but we have issues with contraband. Just better for me to be around. Plus I will only take jobs where I know the kids will be decent. I'm too old and don't need the aggravation of challenging students at this point in my life. I also keep up the bookkeeping for my husband, who does private consulting for the aerospace industry.

I’m looking forward to creating with you this month after a few weeks of having no mojo!
A little about me… I’ve been scrapbooking for 5 years and made cards for about 9 years prior. I’m a stay-at-home wife with two cats living in California.

Hi all! I'm a newbie to challenges (and to scrapbooking as well, I started just before the pandemic hit). My name is Megan, and I'm a stay-at-home mom of three boys (7, 4, and 18 months). I also have steady contract-based work that I do as an independent contractor to bring in extra income. With my 7 year old now back in school full-time (yeah!) and my four year old starting preschool, I'm looking forward to getting some quiet time to craft. In addition to scrapbooking, I've recently started dabbling with cardmaking and art journaling. To get the most out of my cutting machines, I've also fallen down the heat transfer vinyl/sublimation craft rabbit holes as well. I don't think I can realistically do a sketch every day, but my personal challenge is to do *something* crafty every day and to do the one page sketches since that's my personal preference. I definitely plan on sharing my layouts, but my camera phone is busted so until I can get it replaced, I'll have to figure out another way to upload pictures, so I'll probably just do a bunch at one time. Looking forward to a fun and crafty month!

Welcome newbies! My name is Kelly and I live in Southern California. I am married to my dear hubby, Ron. I love making cards, scrapbook pages, art and lots of other creative things. Look forward to seeing you here. It was nice to get to know you other peas better. I have known many of you for a while but didn't know some things. Very cool!

Well I'm having a good start to the month so far, I've finished the first two sketches and nearly done with the third. Typically I'm on top of the sketches at the start of the month and eagerly waiting for the next one to get posted but by about mid month the wheels have well and truly fallen off. Is anyone else planning some scrappy time this weekend?

I'll definitely get some scrappy time this weekend but how much depends on DH's plans and he hasn't shared yet.

Hi Ladies.
My apologies I had planned to pop on here and start scrapping on Friday. Unfortunately my dd who is moving broke her foot, is in a cast-and she needs way more of my help than I planned. I will be back here on Monday and hoping to scrap full speed ahead.
Enjoy the long weekend all

Oh no @psisluvu! I hope she heals fast!
I've had some scrappy time, not as much as I would like that's for sure. DGS weekend with his dad, and DGS has been here quite a bit lol. I have zero sketches finished, but they are all printed and ideas are coming to me.
I'm opening up a crop this afternoon - 2-6 EST if anyone wants to join in! Maybe I'll get something finished today!

Thanks for doing the crop joyfulnana - sorry I couldn't stay on the whole time but there were brownies to bake and laundry to wash... I did get quite a few layouts done during the three crops this weekend. Hopefully someone will do some weekday crops because weekends are usually a bit busier and it's harder to snag craftroom time. I was caught up on sketches until tomorrow's posted...I have an idea but that's tomorrow's project. Hope everyone had a good weekend

Linda thank you for stopping in for awhile! You have gotten so many pages done! I'm usually working during the weekdays, or I would totally be organizing daytime crops. I wonder if grammadee or nylene would be interested? They are two people off the top of my head that I know are ladies of leisure now. LOL - j/k lol. I know all three of you keep very busy! I'm packing up last minute stuff for the crop this weekend. I keep printing off each new sketch and putting in my bag to take with me. Sketchtember sketches are going to be priority number one lol. If I come home with the first 8 or 9 days done I'll probably pass out lol. But here's hoping! How's everyone doing with keeping up if that's your intention? I know I won't get them all, but I do try to do one from each host. So right now I have everyone's first sketch to play with. I hope you all area having a good week!

Hi, Joyful chatters! I have been scrapping today instead of doing so many things that need to be done around here. It has been fun to scrap a bunch though. Linda , once in a while I could be available for a weekday Crop, but I am often driving DH to appts or to get repair items, etc. I try to keep my schedule pretty clear so that I can drop and run when he needs something. Once winter really hits I can schedule things better because he won't be working. I'll chat with you about it. joyfulnana , I hope you have a wonderful time at your crop. I expect to see some great layouts when you return. Have a relaxing trip. psiluvu , I hope your DD got moved and that she heals quickly. kellyr21 , I hope the opening night of your art show goes wonderfully. I can't wait to hear and see photos. Chinagirl828 , I have been loving your layouts posted in the sketch threads. I just love your style...so delicate and elegant. I need to run. Will jump back on later if possible.

Wow. I can't believe we are already a week into Sketchtember! I have the first 6 done and posted. I've been working on #7 for two days, about 10 minutes at a time, LOL! I have my ideas for #8 and found some VERY OLD stickers that will work for the layout. I can't believe I remembered that I had Pooh bear stickers. They are birthday related, and why I bought them? I had nieces and nephews that "might" have a Pooh themed birthday maybe? I've had them more than 20 years!
The smoke here has been a killer. AQI in the 200-400's. Today was better as it was in the mid 100's, still considered unhealthy, but at least you can see the sky! Lucky me, my body has decided to react with headaches and nausea, so I have felt literately under the weather since Saturday morning. I had acupuncture this morning, and that did help. Tummy feels better, but the headache is threatening.
DS's first day of school is tomorrow! Yippee! We survived the summer!

joyfulnana - I enjoyed the online chats even if I'm not very chatty. I'm an extreme introvert at the best of times and pandemic isolation hasn't improved my social skills. I do get a lot of pages done but they are all so simple compared to the works of art everyone is producing...and my area is set up so I can reach everything from my workspot - even the computer for journalling just requires me to move over a couple of feet in the rolling chair. Lots of time saved by not having to get up to grab stuff I think. I just finished day 8 and am about to start on day 9 - I was glad to see a two page, multi-photo sketch - I'm running out of 1-2 photo layouts for the current project. nylene - That makes complete sense that you have to stay available during the day. @angel997701 - I hope your air quality clears up soon - that's just miserable. I hope your DS had an excellent first day of school! I have some older supplies like that also - that I bought because maybe...

You know, the biggest problem I have with sketchtember is the pile of half done layouts on the side of my desk, because every day I get so excited by the new sketch I feel compelled to pull out papers and print photos and make a start, but then I run out of time to actually finish it, and then a new one comes along. So I'm putting it out there, this weekend I will catch up on some of those partially completed layouts, but I do not promise I won't start any more first

I've completed a whopping 1 layout thus far! I did get a bunch of organizing done last weekend though, so at least I will have some points for the month. I signed up to attend a Zoom crop this evening and I'm in the mood for card making, so we'll see how tonight goes. Have a great weekend everyone!

We finally have some rain to clear our smoke filled skies! DS had a good day at school yesterday, always a win. I am finally feeling a little better, then I didn't sleep last night, sigh!
But I did get #10 mostly done in the wee hours of the morning. We will see if I can photograph with the rain outside.
Must do chores, must do chores, before I craft!

I'm glad you're feeling a little better today angel97701. Hopefully with the smoke clearing you'll be able to get some good sleep as well. I've mowed the lawns this morning, and got all the washing done, and probably should be ticking more things off my to do list before the rain comes this afternoon. Then with a cool change coming through tonight I plan to scrap tomorrow.

Hope the air is continuing to improve and you're feeling much better angel97701We were out all day today but I did manage to pull together my samples for tomorrow's sketch and get them posted this evening. Hopefully tomorrow after I get caught back up on housework and paperwork (DD14 has found the perfect new Girl Scout troop but there is SO much paperwork to fill out, scan, and email) then I can catch up on the sketches I've missed this weekend.

Hello team! I'm so far behind on the sketches now. And didn't get any of them done at the crop. I didn't get much done. I need to admit and be ok with being a slow scrapper lol. But it was a lot of fun anyway! I hope you are continuing to feel better angel97701. Today I'll be printing out the sketches that are up since last Thursday and then hopefully work on some tonight. I can't believe this month is half over already. Time has seriously sped up this year, at least for me. It's crazy how fast it's going!

joyfulnana - nothing wrong with being a slow scrapper - just means you take your time and enjoy the process. Glad you had fun at the crop. And the sketches will be around for whenever you're ready to use them for inspiration whether it be this month or much later. I often go back to previous sketches again and again - they look different each time depending on the papers/embellishments and the tweaks I make anyway. This half of the year IS going fast - I think because DD is moving out at the end of the year so I'm very conscious of how quickly that is approaching. We took Paddington to the vet this morning for more shots - she's 5.5lbs now at 20 weeks. Her next appointment will be the last of the shots and her spaying. Hoping to schedule both her and Dusty at the same time for the surgery - might make it a little easier to keep them quiet during recovery if they are both recovering. They are getting so big! I sit in the screen room to watch for the school bus in the morning and the kitties join me - here are the kittens this morning
